Hi Daniel, I have a question?
I have some Indian head pennies
My son was trying to help me he soaked them in warm water and soap to clean them, lol
Do they lose their value after cleaning?

@@dgfan4114 I don't give advice on cleaning coins but you should never clean copper or mess with it using water or anything.

I tell ya.. I inherited so many coins sealed, and kept safe in binders, but I would never “mail” them in to be appraised. Hopefully in the future that changes where you can physically bring them in, but there is no way I’m mailing them in for them to say they were somehow lost. No thanks. More power to those who risk it, but I won’t.

Thank you Daniel, I need to get a cheap electronic scale. With the U.S. raising prices on numismatic products, checking circulating coins for collectable and valuable errors is fun and cheap.

Thanks Daniel ! I keep lookin but doubt I find these in my change. Makes me want to get a sealed US Mint bag of coins to look through...and then probably wouldnt find anything close to any of these after several hundred bags...lol. If I were to ever find something like these, you bet ya its going to get authenticated, graded. You're so right, no one is going to buy something like this with that kind of cash with out authentication.

The Sacajawea strike over Susan B Anthony is actually pretty cool considering I have seen quite a few light colored looking Sacajawea dollars. If I were to have actually seen that error, I would not think much of it. That’s crazy.

Where and how do you buy mint bags?

If memory serves, the last one was "clandestinely" made, and somehow involved a error-coin dealer who got into a bit of hot water over it. Likely those penny on larger denomination coins were "helped". Since modern coin presses feed coins vertically, there's zero way a large coin would fit into the collar die. They'd have to be fed on a horizontal press, with the collar die removed.

That is not underweight, those weights are still within mint specifications. I am Daniel not Mike by the way.

I got to beleive that most or all of these coins are not release to the public these are sneeked out of the mints with this purpose of making alot of money

Or found in bags or rolls bought directly from the mint.

You have to think some of those have to be fake or done by someone that was trying to make some extra money that worked at the mint!!!🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I have a nickel I can't see a year because the design goes blank and on the other side it's basically blank except for some faint design on some of the edges.

Wow you look for these in a lifetime and maybe maybe you hit the Holy Grail. But most time the fun is in the looking. Keep hunting ladies and gentlemen. You never know.
