    Not being insulated seems crazy for such a high priced bottle. Im baffled that no one has made a more reasonably priced, well executed version of a flat water bottle that isnt flimsy.

    • @TheUglyPrimadonna
      @TheUglyPrimadonna Год назад +2

      I don’t disagree, these are definitely pricey. However, here you’re paying for the really unique form factor and the fact that it’s really the only flat metal bottle that isn’t a flask. I’m not an expert, but I imagine insulation is tricky with non cylindrical bottles or mugs. plus it’d either make the bottle larger to add insulation and keep the amount of water it’d take, defeating the form factor purpose. Or it’d take away inside liquid volume capacity.

      @@TheUglyPrimadonna I guess it feels like this should be a more common thing people want so it shouldnt be such a unique form factor.

      @@TheUglyPrimadonna I nearly bought this bottle before realizing it isn't insulated. Corkcicle makes an actual insulated flat canteen. It definitely has a more functional appearance versus the more minimal look of the memobottle, but its $15 more expensive than the largest stainless steel memo bottle bringing it to $80. I ended up just grabbing a black 32oz owala free sip on sale.

    • @longstic13
      @longstic13 Год назад +2

      The reviews of the cockcicle has been mixed, its very heavy and does not insulate very well.

    Really excited to see these come to the market. I've had the plastic ones for a few years and love them. Its great that the current sleeves do fit on the new model.

  • @leighhaynes
    @leighhaynes Месяц назад +1

    Useful to see that the sleeve fits. The steel version is larger than the plastic and Memobottle say otherwise.

      I got the A6 steel version and the silicone sleeve. Whilst it does fit, it is quite a tight squeeze and is rather tricky to remove.

  • @errydm
    @errydm Год назад +14

    The main reason I guess for getting one of these is simply because of the flat design. Most water bottles are bulky and take space.

  • @MRetoastet
    @MRetoastet Год назад +15

    I got the stainless steel version because I read that the original plastic ones tend to break easily, even if only dropped from a small height.
    I don't mind it not being insulated. For me, the shape is good because it fits better into some pockets than a traditional cylindrical bottle.
    Also thanks for the hint that the silicone cover fits on the stainless steel one. Memobottle says on their website that none of the accessories available for the normal version fits the stainless steel version.

    A lot of peeps complaining about the lack of insulation in the comments. Whilst an insulated option would be a good additional offering to the range, I personally want a non-insulated bottle for everyday water carrying in my handbag. Insulated bottles are bulkier and heavier. For me, a flat water bottle design is about being as minimalist as possible, saving space and weight in my handbag (saving me from shoulder ache as I go about my day!)😊. I would love to see a titanium option. I would never drink out of plastic for health, taste, durability and environmental reasons, but stainless steel is still quite weighty...Of course with the amount they charge for the stainless steel option, I'd probably need to take out a mortgage to afford a titanium version 😂

      Ikr, I don't get why insulation is such a big deal, and also the shoulder and back pain is so real, why would anyone carry that much weight just to drink water 😔

  • @everyweekcarry

    I have the original plastic. I use it exclusively in my sling (Aer Day Sling 3, although it fits well in many others). I find if I have a backpack with me, then carrying a bigger bottle is much better. This is for on-the-go hydration when I’m running errands.

  • @Carrytraveledc

    Does the A6 stand on its own? Because, I own A6 (500 mL) and A7 (250 mL) in matte white and it doesn’t stand on its own yet the A7 does. The memobottle rep explained to me with this answer: “The stainless steel memobottle is not meant to stand up, we did not claim that they will stand on its own.
    The main function behind the flat design is to fit into bags for carry, etc. They are designed to fit stylishly into handbags, backpacks, laptop bags and even within your pocket; designed to fit where other bottles don’t.”
    Funny thing is my A7 does stand on its own but is tilting a bit. For a water bottle this pricey, it’s very disappointing.
    I waited for full 12 months backing this project on Indiegogo from last year.

    Nice, but needs to be insulated really then it would be perfect. I have the A6 + the silicone sleeve. The silicone sleeve does not insulate that well, condensates a lot & it makes stowing sticky, but it does offer better protection. If they make a Matt black insulated A6 I’m in.

    Too big to be a flask, too small to be useful for water so for anything that's not water it's sacrificing cleaning ability, filling ability, pour quality, temp retention for....aesthetics?
    I guess it fits in...some?....pockets? lol ok. The bag in the video 3:50 (Aer travel pack?) literally has a water bottle pocket that works fine.
    Can it even stand up on its own or is it falling over with every breeze. To each their own, I guess.
