I’m glad someone has spoken up and said that. People try to say they have a mental health problem and use it as an excuse when half the time they don’t have any mental health issues and try to use it to get out of trouble. I’ve seen comment sections where the commenters might see a drunk woman and automatically say she’s an alcoholic and must have mental health problems, drives me bonkers.

It's that bipolar is widely different from person to person, yours might not be as extreme as others but there are some that cannot help what they do or feel during a bad bipolar episode. I doubt in her case that's what's going on with her however but I have met people who absolutely loose what makes them, them during an episode and completely do a 180 in thought and personality.

If she made all that effort already, what excuse does she have to go to a dumpster rather than a hospital or fire department? Also, abortion is a bodily autonomy issue. While the fetus is attached to the mother's body and using her resources, she gets to decide whether it uses her body for that purpose or not. Once the baby is born though, it's not using her body and so it's no longer her decision.

The footage of the father was also amazing to see, hearing him say, "What do I need to do, where do I need to go, what do I need to say?" with that urgency made me want to cry. He instantly stepped up and called his upset father back without a care in the world about if he was in 'trouble' or not, he was only thinking about his child. I was given up for adoption as an infant & even though it was done the right way, just growing up thinking my parents didn’t care enough about me to keep me had an impact on me. I’ve since learned that wasn’t the case at all & most parents who give up their children actually do it BECAUSE they care & know that they can’t give us the life we deserve, and they hope we will have a good life with loving families. I hope you’ve discovered that too. I can’t imagine the circumstances that would make a parent leave a baby on a train, but I suspect & hope that it was something far less callous than the way this woman behaved. I’ve met my father (unfortunately my mum died at 24 from a heart/lung disease) & learned that the decision haunted him his whole life too. I don’t know if you’ve ever found your birth parents, but hope that if you do, you get some closure & reassurance that you were actually loved by them. Some parents just go into denial, like if they believe hard enough that their daughter is just going through a phase then it'll turn out that's all it is. Deep down they know she's pregnant but they don't want to believe it, so they force themselves to believe it's something else.
Also to be totally fair, some women just don't have normal pregnancy symptoms. I saw someone post online some photos from like the day before she gave birth to a surprise baby and she did not look pregnant at all, at most she might've looked 4 months but she was full term.

You will not be arrested for abandonment, you don't even have to provide identifications. There are resources to help you. DO NOT abandon your baby anywhere else but the places I listed.

@@TheAnnoyingBoss Why exactly would it be a bad thing if these boxes were actually put to use? So many lives could be saved by implementing them and raising awareness about their existence in schools.
I'm not trying to gather sympathy for these women and girls, but many who leave their newborns to die or outright murder them do so after hiding the pregnancies, be it from abusive parents or partners, or just out of shame. Adoption isn't on their horizon since they want to take this secret into their graves, if they even accept that they're actually pregnant in the first place.
Others might be aware of the fact that they won't be able to provide a child with a safe, loving and nurturing home, for example if the baby is born to undocumented immigrants, is a result of sexual assault, or if the parents suffer from substance addiction, are homeless, etc.
Leaving the child in a safe haven box is obviously much safer than leaving it in a public place in hopes of it being found soon and taken in by a loving family, a notion that many naive women have in mind (I'm talking about those who at least wash the baby, put it into warm clothing and towels, not scum who throw them away like trash). Parental abandonment will always happen, especially if abortion is criminalised, and many people simply aren't fit to be parents.

The impact this terrible decision not only has on the person who did it but it does also stay with the child for life. I was also dumped after I was born and the fact that I was unwanted so badly I was discarded like trash, haunted me. It took me a long time to realize that I can still be a good person, deserve love, and am deserving of life. I hope whoever takes in this baby, constantly reenforces to them as they grow that they are loved, wanted, and are destined for great things as much as anyone else ❤. I think there’s something wrong where a woman becomes so scared and desperate that this is what they resort to. This is why it is important to have safe spaces and programs for children. Because no matter what, people will always make mistakes. How they handle them is based on the stigma around their decisions.
