Just got home from watching drummer Chris Slade's band "Timeline" performing this and Blinded by the Light. Absolutely brilliant experience. I've loved these songs since I was at secondary school, never in my life thought I'd get to hear live renditions.
My goodness, this does bring joy! Possibly because maybe Holst's Jupiter was used on the countdown clock to schools tv programmes in the 70's?! Am not sure at all, but this tune conjures up a wonderful warm glow for me! Thank you for posting.
Cool lineup, what a great, great band! I read that the widow of G. Holst was against Manfred using excerpts of "the planets" on the "solar fire"-album, so this song (and many ideas inspired by Holsts classic) didn't occure on it. So "Joybringer" was just a single-edition;-)
Excellent song, bringing a modern take on Holst's Jupiter Suite, great arrangement and vocals from Mick Rogers.
Love this song from times that were much happier than the times we live in 2023.
I was 14 in 1973 - when this song got airplay and German TV was a real adventure
2024 got alot worse
2 day smile

Possibly The Happiest, Nostalgic Song I Have Ever Heard. It Took Years Well Decades To Find A Vinyl Copy To Purchase!!
Always enjoyed Manfred Mann, when the new version came out with Joybringer loved it. Modern version of a classic!

Wonderful interpretation of Holst's Joybringer! Loved it since it was first released - still listen to this song - timeless!
Jupiter from Gustav Holst's 'Planets Suite'. Excellent variation on the theme, beautiful lyrical interpretation too. ❤

Is this a cover or a MME original? Whatever I love it!!!
it's an original, but uses themes from "Jupiter, the bringer of joy" from gustav Holt's Planets Suite (and they credit Holst as a co-writer)
What is the name of the lead singer on this?
Founding Member Mick Rogers. Is still in the band today.
Mick Rogers
Holst goes Progressive Rock.
