@@trulyunoriginal Yeah, I honestly don't get what Lars was aiming for by suggesting to lower the volume of everything but the drum n bass (which weren't doing much by themselves). I guess we'll never know, since there doesn't seem to be an extended version of this clip.
No, he wanted to turn the the volume down after Bob turned it up. So he wanted the original dynamics. It was Bob who thought that the mellow part should be louder.
Bob Rock is fucking legend
Good job Bob ! Put Lars in his place! Also further in the movie he pretty much told Kirk his solos suck and pushed him into somthing great. I wish Bob was Kirk’s solo coach on hardwired and 72
Lars always has a problem with having drums way to loud.. death magnetic, st anger and on hardwired I think they got it right , drums shouldnt be the lead instrument especially on slow songs
Especialy with crapy sounding drums like his.... Lets take Lombardo like an example, with the band not near the level of Metallica in terms of money, always had that huge, dinamic drum sound that Lars could only dream of.
Especially with such a mediocre c tier drummer like him.
@@shred9475 I never heard Lars was mediocre in that time line of 80's -90's.

DRUMMER OF METALLICA.

The Pro Sound engineer knows what's best
Oh man This is what happened with Justice… Lars tried to turn certain things down…. I love the sound of the black album but how trippy would it sound with the AJFA compressed tone… but with bass
Love Bob Rock.
this entire recording of the black album is hilarious, enjoyed watching it "365 1/2 days with Metallica"
Is Bob the real backbone of metallica?
If it wasn't for Bob Rock, there would have been no "Black Album".
this is why i never let drummers do anything else but play drums
A lot of drummers are better arranger than so called lead guitarist.
Ian Paice , Eric Carr, Ringo , Dave Holland , Les Binks , Bill Ward etc ...
Of course it took a Canuck to help make Metallica one of the best selling bands of the 20th Century 😊🤘🍷
need bob rock on the latest record, drums are so loud and lars symbols make it sound like a christmas song every song
Fucking James… “ no you’re not “😂😂😂
I agree with Bob. It would sound stupid the other way.
Rock looks like Rick Parfitt from Status Quo
It Sounds Stupid! That was awesome....So Fucking Happy Bob Stood his ground. Ive watched Year and a Half.... about a dozen times. Especially now. Cant Wait for Sept 10!!
Imagine if Bob was the producer for all...
I think James is a Monty Python fan...
He could be arguing in his spare time
The earliest reality show in Rock history
Well Said Bob
Even though Bob's idea made the song better, Lars' was fighting for what he wanted in HIS song. It proves how he cares more about how his music sounds than going mainstream and getting shit for selling out
Bruh, Lars pushed to get Bob so they could make a more "Dr Feel good" like sounding record so it could sell more maintining Mwetallica´s integrity, wich they did. All the "sell out bull crap" is that, bull crap, even Mayhem would kill for an album like the Black Album.
Do you really think that is "his song"? And Bob Rock is not doing it for being mainstream but push Lars to do his job correctly. One thing is "like your music" and another is having a big ego and mute your mates
Bob was like :
"Lars, just shut the fuck up!...I saw what you did to the AJFA album.."
@@antoniocenteno1483 people often want to put a sheen of 'integrity' on their favourite artists. I thought the same about 2 of my favourite artists in bob dylan and kurt cobain until I read about how contrived and ambitious they both actually were 😆
Yeah, but lars isn’t a producer or engineer, so his opinion isn’t worth anything
Hahaha John James Cleese Hetfield:
“No you’re not”
If only bob had mixed death magnetic :/
St. Anger sounded like crap dude, you people wanting him back are dumb
Bob fucking Rocks.
Lars: we need to have a thicker meatier sound
*gets new producer*
Lars: I want it sound shitty like ajfa tho
Bob always seemed to handle Lars ..lol
If Bob had produced Justice it would have been fucking ridiculous. I feel he came in an album too late.
This is why st anger happened. Lars can't help but argue his entitlement to know things he doesn't know
I love Bob ❤️
Had Lars doubled down on Bob Rock and INSISTED he do things Lars’ way, do you think Bob would have simply left the project?
I doubt he would have wanted his name on a crappy sounding album, especially after the smashing success of Dr. Feelgood.
i have respect for bob hes not a yes man those guys are not sound guys
0:18 you could start by taking... Bob says FULL STOP!
“Oooohm…but we did this Oooohm…on our last album and it worked….0ooohm right?” 🙄
I guess this is the reason why they included this scene because of Lars' stupidity on the AJFA album when he turned down the bass on that one! 😂

The Black Album was the last album of the classic sound Load through St. Anger lost me
Bob rock only really made one mistake with the black album, he took away Jason's rightful instrumental and that ruined his entire reputation for me
How? By turning the bass up?
@@paulbarlow2793
I think he's confusing "...And Justice For All" with "The Black Album".
@@supernauta81 yes, exactly
That was a great riff too
@@angelmendez9365 he’s referring to my friend of misery which was suppose to be an instrumental but bob rock insisted there be vocals
Lars tried to pull a “and justice for all” on the black album
" no you're not" lmfao 🤣
Maybe when you hire a real producer like Bob Rock you might want to shut your face and let him do his job.
If only Bob worked on Justice...
Despite Lars, it's hard to believe that Metallica has been so successful.
@@Salomon_G yeah dude thats exactly what i've been talkin bout
Not really.
