I'm a year into being a vendor at conventions. I started with my comic book collection and just recently decided to see if people would be interested in my cards from Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon. Turns out folks do like both still. I don't do it full-time, the revenue generated from it hasn't surpassed my FT job income. I recommend, test out the local shows in and around you. Try two day shows. For Collect-A-Cons... plenty of channels to watch to get a better understanding on that.
I sell at my local flea market and I’ve had really good luck all things considered. I have some high and low value cards that sell, and I receive a high amount of traffic despite the fact that it’s not specifically a collector or tcg event. I’ve met great people and I really see it as a good way to avoid the confusion and costs of shipping. I find the in-person to be way more rewarding and also I have sold way more at my flea market than I ever have in TCGplayer or eBay. Maybe it’s impulse buys but that’s the beauty of in-person vending. I have had such success but I’ve only gone once a year since 2022. I’m going this Sunday so wish me luck!
Glad you enjoyed it I always have fun when doing them too. Selling is always the fun part for me but sourcing and selling at a decent gain is the tough part
I vended my first card show last weekend and used your yellow table cloth idea and it worked great !! I was in the middle of a row and had many sports tables on both sides of me. I definitely think people walking by at the end of the rows would have kept walking by if my table wasn’t yellow .. thanks for the idea / tip
that twine trick is a very smart idea especially for shows in the mall. very susceptible to people that would snatch and run at the mall rather than a dedicated convention. Ill keep that trick in mind when i finally do my first show.
Great video! I am local to this area and went to this show in Feb, and did a decent amount of revenue as an attendee. I sold to (2) really cool vendors. I couldn't make the April show, but I am thinking about getting a table in June.
best thing is to get accustomed to all the shows that go on around you as a spectator/buyer first and ask dealers questions. I get a lot of good answers to my questions about setting up in shows ranging from a simple church show a mall or even convention centers and even make friendships. Once you start to frequent shows you start to see the same stores and vendors and they start to recognize you as well and when you finally bite the bullet and set up at one, they will likely be glad to help you out and even be your first sale. I wouldn't just jump in it without a lay of the land per se. Best advice is to always price stuff 1 of 2 ways, either already 10-15% off market or exactly at market that way when someone haggles you, you can still make them feel like they are getting a deal and you're not losing on the sale. Both ways work well sometimes one way works better than the other depending on the show. Also, if you are buying or trading leading with how much you pay and how much you give for trade value is a very important tool. Say 65-70% cash or 75-80% trade value.
Great content! Do you have a theory as to why slabs don't move as fast as raw cards? I've heard the same from several youtuber/convention venders and I'm really curious to know why that is the case.
Price! Not only that but Theres a HUGE community who dont want slabs. They want the raw card. The other factor is CGC is not as popular as others. PSA/BGS are the big names.
I think it’s because (in my experience) the average collector does not collect slabs. There certainly are a lot of slab collectors, but this is a big hobby and I do think they are the a smaller segment of the community.
most graded collectors are buying singles to grade themselves and the majority of them are in it to profit off 10s. Like others said the majority of collectors want to complete sets in a binder or want to add their favorite cards raw in their hit binders. I myself only will buy a 9 if it is less than a NM raw copy which alot of the time it isnt so I opt to just buy raw.
I was just down in charleston and collecters corner was the only place I saw online and it didnt look to interesting so I skipped going I wish I went because apparently this was going on
Does it ever feel weird taking money from a kid? Im vending for the first time soon and I would find it weird taking cash from a kid if their parents aren't around
I was one of the bigger Pokémon tables there and have been setting up at this show since last year. Never been disappointed
Great to know! I’ll probably do it again at some point!
Just got into collecting! You were the first channel I subbed to after picking up the hobby😌
That’s awesome! Thank you for your support. I really hope you’ve been enjoying the hobby!
Nice video, Luke! I'm gonna have to remember that twine tip for the binders. Pretty clever idea
Thanks brother!

It was good to see ya at the mall. I had no idea there were any other poketubers in the area. 😂 Looks like you did great for your first time vending
Oh nice!! Good meeting you too!
Crazy that this popped up in my suggested because this was my first ever card show to vend at as well! Big market for kids stuff there
That’s awesome. You’ll have to remind me, did we get a chance to meet?

I been to a card show once from last year!
I love pokemon cards and anything pokemon.
💯
Where can I buy your 5 for $4 selection
you do the dollar binder one online or naa? id be willing to pay for shipping XD. to make my own personal binder
Were your other binders ones that had prices on those cards or were all the binders $1 cards?
The other ones were not priced, but I did have them categorized by $10.
Zelle is a solid option too. No fees
Ok, I’ll look into that.
vending content would be really cool

definitely price out everyting or have a $1 binder,$2 page, etc.
Probably weird question, but what were you writing down in your notebook ?
Not a weird question. I was writing down each sale I made to keep track.
@@LegendofLuke ah I see
What kind profit were you looking in trades? Something like 10-30%?
I just did equal value trades - as a vendor, is it typical to trade at a higher value?
Legend of Luke I love your videos nice youtube channel
Appreciate it!
Hey do you know we're to check beckett slabs.?
Do you mean as far as checking the price?
Thank you for sharing 🙏
Thanks for watching!
Man for 60 bucks and you took home $800 in sales for somewhere that look like a ghost town. I think that's a hell of a return on your investment
Yeah I felt good about it!
I was just down in charleston and collecters corner was the only place I saw online and it didnt look to interesting so I skipped going I wish I went because apparently this was going on
Can you link us to the case you use?
Sure!: amzn.to/4g6tuYj

Yes! For the Celebrations Mew.
Man, that car needs a detailing haha.
Are you volunteering?…
@@LegendofLuke If someone pays for my flight LOL

It’s a local one in Charleston SC.
Does it ever feel weird taking money from a kid? Im vending for the first time soon and I would find it weird taking cash from a kid if their parents aren't around
🤘🤘🐠🐠
I think you're ready to vend at collectacon
Think so? 😬
Sweet dude
Gotta love cash and trades!
💯💯
It’s always a fun time talking nerd stuff with fellow nerds. Other people just don’t understand things of culture 🤌🏽
