The worst part is Dog doesn't even do it that much except when he goes pirates or is trying to pull off some hard Khadgar shenanigans, meanwhile there are players that do the disconnect trick for no reason other than ''making sure'' or something like that. Its sad it has come to this, a gamemode about automatic combat where to be competitive you have to not see the combat itself.
Yea it's a big issue. I'm a relatively good BG player I'd say but I've never pulled the Khadgar/Brann Combo off properly because I've tried a few times and without skipping combat it's practically impossible to make an insane turn.. In conclusion, even when I potentially have the opportunity to do it, I don't because I know I'll just throw the game
They need to just start banning these people. It's an exploit. They've banned Toast for less!

It's almost like for a game to be competitive you need make things as even as possible so giving everyone different amounts of time to do actions is a bad idea.
@@klodd5328 I pull off Khadgar Brann without dcing. It's really not that impossible, especially if you play the turns conservatively and don't try and force the last 10 seconds of a turn more than you should. You're not gonna be 13k mmr levels of optimal but it works out for me at 10k just fine so I'd say 99% of the playerbase doesn't need to care about the dc exploit at all.

The fix for the firewall exploit seems really straight forward. You get 90 seconds to do your shit regardless of when your fight finishes. The other players just have to wait if their fight is done instantly. Worst case scenario you wait a minute after your turn is done.

And the battlecry animations for that matter. The animation on brann+ water droplet is bull.

@@NotHPotter It's not merely twice as slow, Rania's edits are seamlessly cutting out sizable chunks of down time. As a rule, and perhaps the reason why I play so much, I always do something else when I play battlegrounds. Read a novel, play d&d, shitpost on youtube, etc.
@@AnimeReference Oh, I notice that, I'm just talking about the combat. Even the between moments would be mostly bearable at normal speed because Kripp's banter is pretty entertaining, but my god the time it takes for combat to resolve is unreal. I occasionally flip to a video without setting the speed, and the whole thing feels like it's moving through molasses.
Kripp doesn't say Jesus in this video. Once again this new year delivers another evil video from my most prayed for content creator. Kripp cannot afford more of these or he will go into a dark, demonic path that will slowly destroy him. The holy number 7 has been corrupted by evil with this addition to the demonic streak.

How about they just freeze recruiting stage for when combat is actualy over, so it's the same time whether you disconnect or watch the combat.
getting a boat on turn 12 and killing someone in a 1 v 1 - that's fine. getting a boat on turn 7-8 and hitting someone for 34. less fine.

I ve been saying this for quite some time but Khadgar should be removed. He s not used in anything else besides cheating triples and that aint fun. Khadgar was one of the main issues with people playimg garbage decks then switching to divine poison triple into megasaur murlocs.
Blizzard has made more and more cards that encourage people to skip their turn. I would like if they removed khadgar and hoggar. Pirates would have to receive a major rework but I don't think you should be able to go infinite otherwise people will always do this. Triple brann with primalfins, murazonds and tavern tempests is borderline but that should be as close as you are able to get to needing 2 minutes and going pseudo infinite. They could also rework how long you get for turns so that it isn't based off of the length of each players combat. Similar to other auto battlers where your new turn starts once everyone is done with combat. Maybe then they could add a stopper for people who disconnect where if you reconnect after skipping combat you still have to wait a predetermined amount of time to start your turn.

I really hope they don't go through with this. They're two of the most interesting mechanics in the game, removing them because they couldn't figure out how to program a stop-gap for this would just be embarrassing. I think I'd rather just quit the mode if they're going to remove anything that is interesting because they can't be bothered to make it work properly.
Just don't automatically skip combat when people re-load, and fix animations taking forever. Don't have turn timer and combat timer be linked at all, just like how every other auto battler works.
If they were to rework the turn timer I would be more okay with keeping them around to at least see what it's like, especially hoggar. Khadgar has always been a weird one for me though. The triple stuff is cool, the interactions with reborn minions and deathrattles leads to complete scams which I won't ever be down with. Khadgar+sneeds/ghastcoiler is really dumb imo.

To be fair, his battles would be a couple giant cats crushing a couple 12/12s. Watching him go god mode is just as entertaining

hearthstone needs animation settings (also fix the slow ass animations like khadgar triples, some battlecries etc)
alternatively or additionally, battlegrounds could have players wait for every combat to resolve but that would need faster combat too
I agree that combat length shouldn't affect turn time.
An alternative to waiting for all combats to end would be to have a set timer that starts as soon as you return to the tavern after combat. Then when your timer ends the board gets locked (tavern closed) with a waiting for other players message. When the last players' timers end the next round of combat starts for everyone.
You could either frontload the wait (tavern closed until the longest combat ends), or backload the wait (as described above)
Either way the game flags you as 'ready' for the next tavern/combat when your combat/timer ends, and when all remaining players are flagged 'ready' the next tavern/combat starts.
Yes this would make players with faster combats have to wait for those with slower combats, but would remove the variability of combat length as a factor in how much time you get per turn. It would thus increase the influence of player skill and APM in winning, and not give unfair advantage to those who skip the combat compared to those who watch it.
I think I would prefer the wait to be after the tavern rather than after the combat, as if you are AFKing/other windowing while waiting for all players timers to finish, the sounds of the next combat starting would let you know that the next tavern is imminent. So if maximizing your turn length is important would have active feedback on how long until the turn starts.
You could maybe even do both, When your combat ends if there are still other combats ongoing you can select when to open your tavern, when the last combat finishes your tavern is forcibly opened, and when the last players tavern closes the next combat begins.
EDIT: With either last tavern closes option you could add an end turn button (manually closes tavern and flags you as ready for next combat) to potentially make the game faster if everyone uses it before their timers would complete normally.

Blizzard can let the HS server communicate with all players (clients) and just let you only reconnect (if you disconnected) after all other players have seen the end of battle.. it is kinda easy... just some waiting time on reconnects with a message:
"battle in progress please wait a moment we will connect you back as fast as possible"

Silvername played in several BG tournaments. He knows stuff like this does not help him. In a tourney he could not do it, so why even bother.
They should just speed up the combat, like you said 60 extra seconds sometimes more, just make the combat max 15sec.
Firewall exploit gives an unfair advantage using out of game mechanics, it's the same as a cheat tool and should be banned.

Solution to the firewall bs? Make it so that if a player disconnects during combat, they immediately lose and go 8th place to lose MMR. Want to see someone cheat like that
Problem with that is it punishes people on mobile or bad connection badly. When I play on mobile, except if I sit right next to a router there's always some point where I get disconnected because I've moved and blocked the signal somehow.
@@raznaak That is a fact I'm aware of, but it is something that is "a necessary evil"? No matter the solution, someone is gonna end up losing. Maybe allow a "grace" period before returning to the game? Or returning before combat ends? It's hard to know how long a combat phase will last I know, but we gotta punish these cheaters some way, somehow.

@@KiuhKobold Just give players set turn time, so even if they skip combat then they just get the same amount of time as everyone else... they just have to sit there and twiddle their thumbs whilst waiting for other players to finish combat. Your suggestion punishes anyone who doesn't have perfect internet 100% of the time when there is a much easier fix. Besides if it's just the top players doing it to compete then who cares other than their own little epeens, don't watch them! (they would still be the top players out there without it) Everyone who really need 15k mmr knows the trick to get it... it's not an unfair playing field. Not that I condone, I would never do it personally, but if everyone has the same access to it then it's hardly unfair whether tyou like it or not
kripp may hate playing against people of his level of skill who use an exploit against him, which is fair, but at the same time, I reaallllly hate playing against 12k MMR players at my 5k rank. I just have no chance to win

Thank you for a good video. I think you have a good point about how the players play the game. I admire your decision to play without glitching to gain advantage. Sorry I don't remember technical term. I don't play hearthstone. I just enjoy your strategies, and hearing a quality speaking voice.
Its sad what he talks about in the beginning of the video. I am currently dropping my MMR because honestly it doesn't even feel like I'm playing the game for what it is if I have to exploit it or just lose to people exploiting the game. Which is sad cause I have spent all year playing this game mode and felt somewhat rewarded for hitting a high MMR to only be outclassed by a mechanic that literally rips the soul from the game. Its not fun at high MMR at all.

Streamers may have to do the firewall thing, but all I do to skip combat is disconnect my WiFi and reconnect when hearthstone freezes. Works every time.
I did my deathwing first place achievement the other day unfortunatly in a game i had invited a good friend to come play in and proceeded to tavern to 6 as fast as i could , got 2 boats and a baron and he was the first one to take 45 damage , then 5 more people took 40 damage in a row and i won , boat good

Honestly, no disrespect to Dog for his skill, but he is the most boring battlegrounds streamer to watch. Kripp is salty and Firebat is funny, but I literally just skip through Dog's videos to see what his endgame looks like and then move on.
Which is the same 3 builds every time. Triple Kalecgos dragons ft Amalgadon, apm Pirates, or Khadgar/Baron pirates.

Blizzard need to remove the disconnect recovery for BG. They need to ban anyone who have constant disconnect from BG. Its cheating and exploiting the system.

Blocking connection to a game with your firewall is also know under the names of Lag Hacking, Artificial Latency or a Lag Switch. All very established hacks in FPS games. But nah doing the same to exploit a mechanic in a card game is totally fine. Yup yup.

If the top level players all use a firewall glitch and have a ridiculous advantage.
Insist on playing fair, lose MMR, and then you should get matched against people who have roughly even matches against you again.

If it's because the meta at high MMR makes playing un-fun that's a different argument. Though that's difficult to separate from "it's more fun to win".
They should lock the amount of recruit time. Wait for all combats to resolve, then all players get 10 seconds per gold to play their turn. E.G. 30 seconds on turn 1 up to 100 seconds for all turns with 10 gold. The current system for deciding turn times makes no sense.
Edit: maybe 100 seconds is too much. Have it scale from 30 to 70 seconds.
So, I hear what you're saying Kripp, but theres the other side of the coin. How does it feel to get screwed against a dead opponent who was using some jank build that has a ton of crappy animations/deathrattles eating up all your time? I think the Skip Combat button is the fairest option. It lets advanced players take a peek at whats on offer and then extrapolate from there what could happen and how to circumvent it. And for those who want to watch the fights and don't care about MMR they can just not use the button.

Kripp, I play at 11k and I play primarily on an iPad. And EVEN I am using this reconnect thing by enabling and disabling airplane mode. And yes, khadgar token strategy is the best way to win
A solution is simple. Nobody can make any action until the last combat ends. Then everybody has the same time to buy and sell from/to Bob.
selling a 10/8 murloc to make room for khadgar resulting in 2 more triples was clearly worth it. I know the token shenanigans is a bit bothersome, but Kripp tunnels so hard on murlocs he forgets other stuff exists sometimes..
I wonder if they could have a mechanism that either forces you to watch the rest of the combat if you d/c or delays your ability to start playing/shopping for say 45 seconds or something roughly equivalent to how long the match would have taken. Something along those lines seems like a necessity to address the state of the game. It might penalise the people who legitimately have a disconnection but how much rarer are they than the scammers.
i once played a reno game, tripled into a zerus on 2 got boat, goldened it, killed the next guy i faced on turn 4 or 5ish? i forget when 3 dread admirals, a hogger, pagel and a swabby popped out it was great

about the exploit i simply don't understand why it can't work like in teamfight tactics, you might win sooner but you still need to wait for other players to finish their battles, that way everyone always has the same time
Could not allow reconnecting and just get dropped if you disconnect, but people wouldn't like it, especially people with potato-computer.
I play on mobile and legitimate disconnecting happens all the time.

That's senseless. If an exploit is so easy to abuse to the point where so many people use it as Kripp says, you are gonna kill your playerbase if you just ban everyone.

You don't need a firewall. You just disconnect your internet connection for one second when the rope burns out.
They can stop it by not predetermining the combat. If they roll in real time as they display it you couldn’t skip it. You just return to the current battle state.
Question, I had 3 tide hunters and the battle cry hero shudderwock, I got two triples over two rounds, and ended up with three golden 2/2 murlocs, why didn’t I get a third triple?
