These guys were my jam back in 2009. The Physics of Fire and Dichotomy absolutely shredded. I actually never caught their next few albums, but went back and listened to them after this single dropped. I definitely missed out. Their last two albums definitely were a bit more experimental, and kinda reminded me of Rivers of Nihil. Glad they're back again, pumping out quality music.
Hey man, if you have a moment, please check out our new single featuring Jason Wisdom from BTA! It's called Worry of Wages and you can find the lyric video for it on our RUclips page.
ahhhh you checked out Becoming the Archetype! i recommend you check out the Dichotomy album; it's one of my favorite albums of all time and their best album, imo! this song is a great comeback! also fun fact, the solo to this song is done by Daniel Gailey of Phinehas!
Dan was also with the band for two albums (Celestial Completion and I AM), I'm guessing the main reason he's not on this new album is due to how he's now with both Phinehas AND Fit for a King so having a third band would be pretty rough.

Jason Wisdom goes hard every time. Glad he came back to the band and their new album looks solid. There's even a track with Ryan Clark doing guest vocals.

If you've never heard it, the vocalist's other band Death Therapy is really good too! Lots of creativity and prog elements to that project. Also I believe Daniel Gailey of Phinehas does that solo, saw he was listed as a feature on this song on their tracklist for the album!
He did. Also, Daniel Gailey was with BTA for their first 2 albums, so it was a reunion of sorts, even though he’s not on this full album. Gailey is also in Fit For A King, so between that and Phinehas, I’m not surprised he couldn’t be on the whole album lol.
Dan joined BTA in 2010 and is on the albums Celestial Completion and I Am until they called it quits. He was actually in a local band before that called Thaddeus that I had the pleasure of playing with a few times. The vocalist of Thaddeus actually took over vocals once Jason left BTA. But yes, Dan is the solo on this track and it's obvious. Dan is good at putting his stamp on guitar solos.
BTA was one of my first bands that got me into death metal which is what they are primarily technical death metal with some metalcore elements. Listened to them a lot as a teen and was super happy to here them returning. My favorite of them might be Dichotomy which fun fact was produced by Devin Townsend himself and even did a guest vocal appearance in the song ""Mountain Of Souls" which is arguably the first Christian song the featured him as a guest. Also the lead vocalist/bassist, Jason Wisdom, has two other bands: Solamors: a supergroup he formed with Alex Kenis and Travis "Trav" Turner of Aletheian fame which is another amazing Christian tech death band and this band has even more heavy emphasis on tech death even more than BTA Death Therapy: His industrial prog metal project which features no guitars but his bass playing among drums and keyboard. This one is more lighter and while he does scream and growl in this project there is a lot more clean singing especially the latest album Melancholic Machines which is almost devoid of unclean vocals. Also this project has a lot of great collaborations from Andrew Schwab of Project 86, Dawn Michelle of Fireflight, Matt Baird of Spoken, Josh Kincheloe of Glasslands and Garrett Russell of Silent Planet

I'm psyched you've been introduced to these guys! They notably collaborated with Devin Townsend on their album Celestial Completion. Terminate Damnation their first may be their best so far but I've enjoyed all their albums with Jason as vocalist. I'm also picking up a strong Gojira influence on the me track.
One of my favorite bands all time. Nice feedback on this killer new song. Can’t wait for August 26th! I’d like to recommend a song by another one of my favorite bands: Trenches by Hope For The Dying. Or if you really like Jason’s vocals on this song, he briefly makes an appearance on Nemesis, the song before Trenches.

They also had devin townsend produce their dichotomy album and i think it was super impactful on their producing from there on out. I have a lot of respect for devin and so grateful for his impact on this band.
BTA is the band that got me into death metal and the stuff even heavier than metalcore. Killswitch Engage, Dayseeker and Mouth of the South (later Rival Choir) were the bands that got me into metalcore but BTA is the reason I listen to a lot of heavier stuff nowadays. I never imagined they'd make a comeback, especially not with their original vocalist, but I'm so glad they did! One of my favorite bands to this day! If you enjoy this kind of stuff but also love progressive kinds of things, definitely check out Hope for the Dying! Their lead guitarist is also one of the guitarists in War of Ages (not sure if you've heard them but check them out too if you haven't) and they're absolutely near the top of my list of best bands out there. Definitely listen to their song, Open Up the Sky, if you give them a listen. It's an almost 13-minute epic masterpiece!
You should check out And Hell Followed With, another band that just made a comeback after a long break. They released an album earlier and an EP in 2019.
Three of my fave songs - Epoch of War (first song I heard by them back in the day, so freaking good and groovy), Artificial Immortality, and Elemental Wrath
Progressive metal or prog metal. If you're having a conversation about it. I felt this before their return and I feel it more now: they're basically a less talented As I Lay Dying. There's no real variation to the vocals where the harsh and heavy vocals are pretty close together. Aside from the slight djent elements, there's not too much different from AILD. Which might be fine if they're just looking to fill that gap for those fans. In the end, there are softer bands like Nothing More, Allt, and heavier bands like Lorna Shore and Crystal Lake that come across as less derivative. I'd rather hear something less like An Ocean Between Us era AILD. Like, it's a solid track. As someone who grew up in that era of metalcore, this was more like Becoming the Typical for me.
I disagree. AILD is very generic to me. Nothing that wows me. I think its a disservice to compare BTA to AILD. I feel like a comparison to BTBAM would have been a better callout, and I'd respect your opinion if you said you liked BTBAM more.
