"Death Empress." Or "I, The Devourer," basically anything off the Poetic Edda. That album marked a high water point for deathcore. It's a benchmark that future artists should judge themselves by. Deathcore as a whole felt fairly stagnant prior to that.
Murder8 is my song of the year, breakdown of the year, and callout. The raw emotion of how personal the song is to the drummer is what put it on top for me
my top 10: 1. Malphasian- Disembodied Tyrant 2. Watch Me Bleed- Defocus 3. Guilt- Split Iris 4. Over The Garden Wall- Like Moths to Flames 5. Scars on a Soul- Boundaries 6. THE SHOWS ABOUT TO START- Wage War 7. A Work of Art- ICE NINE KILLS 8. Infection- Memphis May Fire 9. Hands of Sin- Bleed From Within 10. Don't Reach For Me- Knocked Loose
It's a pity that Inertia-too far gone and Cane hill - The midnight sun were not in this top, I really hoped that they would be at least in the top 20, but apparently the author simply hasn't seen these songs and hasn't heard them, although who knows)
It’s because everyone in the band is a piece of shit so much to the point they’ve been completely blacklisted from performing in their own country by most venues
OOOH MA GAAAA… SMILEBOY keep your eyes on Brazil, AXTY released one of the most insane breakdowns of the genre, “dismay” not being mentioned here is a fucking crime.
Top 15 Breakdowns 1. A Visceral Wretch -Whitehchapel 2. Dark,Silent & Complete -Unprocessed 3. Quitter Talk -Half Me 4. Nerv- Thornhill 5. In Place Of Your Halo - Bleed From Within 6. My Blood On Your Hands - Paleface Swiss 7. Bleed Out - Vola 8. Dominant Predation - Get The Shot (ft. Paleface) 9. Turning Hate Into Rage - Boundaries 10. Villain Arc- Bury Tomorrow 11. Calm That Keeps You Awake - Knocked Loose 12. Phoenix V Invocation - Night Verses 13. House Of Sand - Nothing More 14. Supreme Ruler - Kublai Khan 15. No Lamb Was Lost - Counterparts
The whole list was “Meh” at best, but that’s not a knock on your list or the artists, but likely due to my own realization that MY period of metal has officially past and a new era is being ushered in. With that being said, I did enjoy the Top 5 though. Can’t wait until next year’s list!
I have to agree ngl. There were some that stood out to me personally and that I love like “Canvas” because of the saxophone, the Reliqa one, “A Work of Art” Ice Nine Kills, and of course, “Suffocate”, and there were several others, but a lot were okay and fine. Thinking I too am realizing that I’m phasing out of it a little bit. 😕
Breakdowns out of the context of their songs are never as good as they could be. Same goes for most guitar solos. Glad my era isn't ending yet. 30+ years of pretty much nothing but metal and it just keeps getting better.
@ True, the larger song does provide more context and could completely change my idea of some of these songs. But overall, I felt that too many were carbon copies of each other. The breakdown is likely my favorite part of any song, however, I felt that after the first couple, I heard the same breakdown basically 40 times.
@@Silvertonguetony That's fair. I say basically the same thing to my buddy who is a Hair Metal nut. "Wasn't this solo already done 16,000 times in the 80s?" 😂... but, it's just the sound of the genre, ya know?
Every year its one or two artists everybody in the world loves but not me.. I try but Knocked Loose and Linkin park doesnt work for me But alot of bands i havent liked before has some great songs this year
Are gonna pretend that The Browning didn't release anything this year? Even Nik snubbed them in his list. The Poison's breakdown lives rent free in my head.
Veeeery repetitive and predictable list, tbh. Just stupidly apeshit heavy stuff, very much noisy and very little musical. Few exceltions here and there and that's about it. Happy holidays, Birb! Didn't hit me this time, but you're still the absolute best! 2k25 is gonna be a banger and we'll all be here for it!
Nope. A breakdown is, by definition, meant to create space and get reactions. When the song is already heavy and the breakdown just makes it heavier... I mean, it's like putting more chocolate on a chocolate cake. That's why bands add musical elements such as instruments, rhythmic changes, melodic cadences, etc and Avralize making the list is a great example of that, among others.
What was your favourite breakdown of 2024?
Darko baby!!!
"Death Empress." Or "I, The Devourer," basically anything off the Poetic Edda. That album marked a high water point for deathcore. It's a benchmark that future artists should judge themselves by. Deathcore as a whole felt fairly stagnant prior to that.
Enterprise Earth - Spineless
2:30 Winter by Disembodied Tyrant and Synestia
Mouth for War - The Earth's Cold Embrace
Murder8 is my song of the year, breakdown of the year, and callout. The raw emotion of how personal the song is to the drummer is what put it on top for me
Half Me - Fatalist not even Top 50 was very surprising. That's probably my #1!
Death Empress #1 for me
Same. The emotions i went through hearing that song for the first time are unexplainable lol
Absolutly !! That song put me on my ass after hearing it. Such amazing composition and the break-down is the cherry on top !!!
Fatalist by Half Me for sure, also ended up my most listened to song of the year...I'm a sucker for a good breakdown 😅
This!
Not a single Half Me or Bodysnatcher song is criminal😭
Bodysnatcher almost made it haha but Half Me isn't wowing me that much right now tbh
Half me - fatalist is so good
Half Me entire EP is fire. I dont know what you're on about lol
@@METALBIRB Thank you for saying this. I feel so alone in not seeing why everyone loves Half Me
Don’t forget Whitechapel was too low!
my top 10:
1. Malphasian- Disembodied Tyrant
2. Watch Me Bleed- Defocus
3. Guilt- Split Iris
4. Over The Garden Wall- Like Moths to Flames
5. Scars on a Soul- Boundaries
6. THE SHOWS ABOUT TO START- Wage War
7. A Work of Art- ICE NINE KILLS
8. Infection- Memphis May Fire
9. Hands of Sin- Bleed From Within
10. Don't Reach For Me- Knocked Loose
Oh alot of artists and songs i havent heard this year .. Fun 👊🏻😊
Great list
One of my favourites from this year is Father by Aviana. Really like the build up to it.
I love the crunchy and thick sound of the guitars and bass.
No Half Me Fatalist or Quitter Talk in the top 50 is surprising. Each to their own!
It’s criminal that murder8 didn’t make this list at all. That has one of the best call outs of this year. Right up there with turning hate into rage
Empty by Void of Vision was my favorite breakdown. I will miss them.
Worm Shepherd - The Anguished Throne …
Really missing in this list.
It's a pity that Inertia-too far gone and Cane hill - The midnight sun were not in this top, I really hoped that they would be at least in the top 20, but apparently the author simply hasn't seen these songs and hasn't heard them, although who knows)
criminal choice to add the sacrifice me one when dark silent and complete came out this year
Shadow of intent , boundaries, knocked just hits different ……great picks
YOOOO ANOTHER NOW
Great list!
Hey man! Great vid, consider linking a spotify playlist with the songs would be cool
Solid top 10 (with one exception). Suffocate is my top 1 breakdown too
I hardly ever see any Dealer representation which is so unfortunate cause their new album is riddled with amazing breakdowns
It’s because everyone in the band is a piece of shit so much to the point they’ve been completely blacklisted from performing in their own country by most venues
Cause of their drama unfortunately but separating the artist from the music, dealer fucking slaps
@ Damn right, I absolutely love their music but yeahhh Aiden and associates aren’t great people
Kinda wish this was a spotify playlist not gonna lie.
This is a fabulous list, not least because it will encourage me to branch out with my listening. Thanks!
OOOH MA GAAAA…
SMILEBOY keep your eyes on Brazil, AXTY released one of the most insane breakdowns of the genre, “dismay” not being mentioned here is a fucking crime.
We need more breakdowns with sax and brass instruments in them.
I have to go with the bagpipe breakdown. That shit hits so hard
I saw Get the Shot in Nantes in France, it was huge, if ever, they put videos and images of the concert on their Instagram
No imminace is, crazy, but the grayscale season amazing call out plz go listen to them! Top tire bandn ❤ 10/10 album this year
Top 15 Breakdowns

5. In Place Of Your Halo - Bleed From Within
6. My Blood On Your Hands - Paleface Swiss

12. Phoenix V Invocation - Night Verses
13. House Of Sand - Nothing More
14. Supreme Ruler - Kublai Khan
15. No Lamb Was Lost - Counterparts
Kinda shocked that you chose Sacrifice Me over Dark, Silent, and Complete for Unprocessed. The breakdown in DS&C is pure filth
Aviana - Father
A Visceral Wretch by far
Motherwort by Greylotus was my #1
Death empress deserve #1
Dude nothing gets through a run like slow sour bleed one of my favs of 2024

Интерсно почему в топ не попала Imminence - The Black 🤔🤔🤔
🧡🤘
Vctms shouldbe top 50
Every year its one or two artists everybody in the world loves but not me..
I try but Knocked Loose and Linkin park doesnt work for me
But alot of bands i havent liked before has some great songs this year
Cauchemar by mirar has literally the heaviest breakdowns of all time and even doesn't appears in the list, ridiculous.
I was thinking whole time if he doesn’t include get the shot…. 🤪Love the top 3
0:05 2019 you looks like a completely different person, what the hell?🤣
I don't even know who that person is bruh 😂
why play the clip and only show half or less of the breakdown? not allowed??
He doesn't want it to be an hour long video.
I guess its out of your hands, but the way the audio is cut makes this unlistenable 😭
Once again Aussies fucking dominating
Primitive by Not Enough Space is my favorite for the year
#moancore
Hahaha I actually had it as another bonus but took it out. Sorry. But yeah it’s definitely memorable lol
Are gonna pretend that The Browning didn't release anything this year?
Even Nik snubbed them in his list. The Poison's breakdown lives rent free in my head.
Song came out last year
@@AffAhaxor True, but the album came out this year. Plenty of other bangers like Soul Drift, and MISERY.exe
Isn't that the point of a breakdown though lmao..
Imagine crying about a breakdown being heavy. Go listen to One Direction or something instead little fella
@dravenripley9468 Yeah I don't think I've ever listened to a breakdown and thought, "Nah too heavy. I need more musicality."
I think you are a clown who doesn't understand what a breakdown is. So maybe don't listen to core.
Whitechapel only at 24 is insane
