  • Wow! What a long and diverse musical career Staten Island’s David Johansen has had. From the seminal Punk of the New York Dolls, a solo career, his alter-ego Buster Poindexter, and the roots music of the Harry Smiths.
One of my all-time favorite recording artists and live performers, watch me rank 15 studio LPs from my personal “least favorite” to “favorite” and tell some stories along the way. There are also three great live records I’m gonna show you as well.
As always, thanks for watching this longer-than-expected video and please show your support by hitting the “Like” and “Subscribe” buttons on my RUclips page. There are also other videos for you to watch at my “Ranking Records” and other playlists for “Great Forgotten Records” and “Looking for Records.” Also watch for my daily posting of a “TV Live” video.

Very much enjoyed this video. I absolutely agree with you about the greatness of David's first solo album and In Style. The first album is also my daughter's favorite album -- she's 19 months old!

Good job, I suspect you didn't see the Spanish Rocketship show, great band and you would've loved it live I'm sure... David Johansen Group from S.I. was one of the best rock bands I've ever seen... Also, Buster's "A-Team" lineup was very tight and put on GREAT shows at Tramps... Should also mention both the Uptown Horns and Blondie went on to tour with the Stones... Here's a NYD related quote, "We gave the homophobes a run for their money."😎
