Those girls don't have a very good father, but they have a darned good big brother. Their brother is a mature, insightful, responsible young man. He seems very willing to step up as a male figure in their lives. I'm sure they are all grown up, but God Bless these kids❤

Teenagers are difficult enough to deal with while they're figuring out themselves; sprinkle on it a nasty divorce, adjusting to new step parents and step siblings, inappropriate conversations about finances, and the stress of having to "choose sides" from toxic parents. I agree. He has stepped up as the man of the house and protector of his family, despite his young age. The way he comforted his sister and gently kissed her head spoke volumes about this young man.

@@andie3209 Mine left when I was 6, called me out of the blue when I was 24, hadn't seen or talked to him in between. About a misplaced check for $25, I assured him I wouldn't spend it if I came upon it, and said I had plans and had to go. (Called me "Darling", told him I wasn't, nicely, professionally).

He just gave up on playing the first wife's game.
Obvious an clear example of parental alienation. Theirs no reason he only has visitors rights. He isn't abusive he isn't a drug addict an he isn't a alcoholic. Chances are his case was judged by a female judge who are often sexist an give women all the power in divorces. That or the judge was high on crack or something. Honestly think about what he has truly done wrong by not playing into his ex wife's hand. He wouldn't have been able to father those kids under her guidelines regardless. This just stops the turmoil for the children who would have been constantly caught in their fights. He had no choice but to leave it you look at it from a child care perspective.

When we divorced, our divorce was presided over by a male judge and ge awarded me sole custody and only gave my ex-husband visitation, at my discretion. Why? Because he was abusive, he would throw things at me and the kids, he would demean us, he would play mind games, so on an so forth. Abuse is not just physical and I have news for you, this pathetic waste of testosterone is abusive. Judges don't just hand out sole custody with visitation for no reason, and the judges aren't all women and they aren't drugged up either. The fact that his new wife is only getting his version and doesn't know the entire dynamic and thinks she should be respected just because she's an adult shows that she truly knows nothing. My ex-husband told his current boo Thang that ge left me, he didn't, I kicked him out and u filed for divorce because I was done being abused and he was cheating on me with a 20 year old that he knocked up with triplets. My daughter told her the truth and then she found out he was a liar and a manipulating narcissist, just like this abusive, narcissistic liar is. If you think it's OK for a parent to verbally abuse their children I have pity on EVERYONE in your world. This isn't parental alienation, this is a narcissist getting mad and trying to blame everyone else for his own self made issues.

I thought the stephmom was very gentle and polite and came across as really wanting the best for her husband and his children.
The more I listened, the more I began to resent the respectless yelling, crying, talking loud at the same time of the children and their mom joined in cheerfully. I don't know who's lying or who is telling the truth.
But I find mom very agressive and I would not be at all surprised to hear that she DID block the phone, closed down Facebook and made it even more difficult then the situation already was.

Listening to this guy for two minutes and you know he’s the problem. His children deserve so much better. I hope they find the healing they need one day- let God be your Father, kids. I’m sorry this man is who you got.
He should be more humble. His kids believe he is rejecting them. Even if he believes that is a false narrative being enforced by his ex-wife, he should be seeking a way to show his love for the children in such a way that his ex-wife cannot “block” him. However, I don’t think their frustration and pain is actually because of their mother. I would be interested to know how things turned out, but doubt there has been much, if any, improvement.

@@LordBattleSmurf I agree she’s a big part of it I was referring to the dynamic between him and the kids. I don’t know that if go as far as to say half though - he’s a piece of work with every excuse in the book. I’d say she’s at least a third though. She said she hated him to his face in front of her kids- you don’t do that. She clearly has a lot of bitterness and resentment which I get but the only way to deal with someone like that is radical forgiveness for the sake of your children.

37:25 Never once has he taken any responsibility for his actions or behaviour, just a ton of excuses. I’m actually really disappointed that Dr Phil never called him out on it. He only corrected the kids whenever they asked him to take accountability. Very disappointing.

I’m really not impressed with Dr Phil on this episode. He did not need to tell them that either. They seem to be pretty good kids. I don’t think they needed to hear that.

there is a time in life that you need to let go of unhealthy relationships. It just isn't worth the fight. It is healthier to let it go. do not fight to be in some ones life that does not make the same effort.
That's quite true, but as a child it's very difficult to just let go : children forgive their parents a lot, sometimes even the harshest abuse. That's why they hardly give up trying to connect to immature parent.

@@INFJ-Advocate because they're children. Children are very adaptable and forgiving and tend to long for parental love.
Both of my parents were very distant emotionally, and each was abusive in different ways. I've mended my relationship with my father (in my thirties) and I still long for my mother's love, but she has none for me. It's a very difficult thing for children to accept. It's worse than the death of a family member, it's outright rejection from them. It's a different kind of wound that doesn't heal, and affects personal relationships for life. It's natural to want to resolve that.
Eventually their anger and self respect will help them separate from him, but it'll always hurt.

his new wife needs to know her place. she should support and be sympathetic to him but not interfere in his relationship with, or even speak to, his first wife and their children. he needs to stop making excuses, step up and fulfill his emotional and financial responsibilities.

As their father, it is Todd's responsibility to make himself available for his children. But, he is so resentful of the children's mother and the financial success that sge and her husband have achieved. Todd keeps saying that he loves his kids, but he does not put feet to the words. He gas a history of not being there financially or physically for his kids.

The father knew he had financial obligations to his children yet he remarried. Apparently he doesn't have a steady job. Those kids are old enough now to understand finances and why their mom can't afford certain things. It's his responsibility to work and pay his obligations. On the other hand, he should exercise his parental visitation without excuses. Step mom should step back on her opinions with the children.

My ex hasn’t seen his kids for years he isn’t interested. He divorced me with no agreements in place kids money etc. he divorced me on grounds of no marital contact for two years. He is a disgrace. His behaviour should be a huge red flag for his new wife who cheated on her first husband with my husband. I could never be with a man who treat his kids like that !!

At the end of the day, these poor children just wanted to hear, "I'm sorry " from their father. Something he didn't even say once. It's such a shame as a parent to keep continuing to make excuses, along with being in constant defense mode instead of just truly apologizing and then asking to move forward. I knew a woman who bad mouthed her kid’s father so much , it completely made the kid hate the father. Everytime he tried to reach out , the mother undermined him . That poor kid missed out on what a nice person he was & now he’s dead.
Well my daughter step mother used bad mouth me all the time. So it works both ways. In the end my daughter learned all the lies this woman said about and now can stand the step mother.

They don’t like the stepmother and display jealousy that he is happy with her. They don’t seem to worry about the step father. Been in the same situation with my own father and his wife.
I think these kids have heard a lot of one-sided information from their mom, over and over again. And if he was going to be 5 minutes late, wouldn't it be better for the kids, to let him pick them up, and work on fixing the timing issue with him moving forward. And she seems to enjoy her kids yelling and screaming at him. She has not taught them how to have a productive conversation. So her actions show, she just wants to make his life miserable, and she is willing to sacrifice the kids in the process.

Here's a tip to you men - Like women, you get one "set" of children. You emotionally, psychologically, and financially support your children. You don't get to run away, abandon them, and have children with another woman. And, your ex-wife is not your administrative assistant. Figure out when teacher-parent night is, when to pick up and drop off your children, etc., etc.
I think mother totally turned the kids against their father. Why women do this to their children is beyond my imagination.

Ouch does this episode hit home for me. I’ve not seen or spoken to my father in over 4 years. I pray they find comfort in his absence.
Nobody is blameless in this family. Everyone seems to want to be the biggest victim but no compromise at all from anyone. The kids need to get over that their father and mother are not together and too hate anyone he’s with helps nobody. Life is tough and I believe that the ex wife has poisoned the kids against their father. She should have never said anything about child support to their children. And she admitted that she has done everything to keep him from the kids.
Look at the so called mother.
Daughter in pink is a massive brat. Her mom raised her poorly. You don’t speak to someone that way. Control yourself.
As for the mother, in the end he tells her WE need to communicate better and immediately she flips and says no. She really truly IS THE PROBLEM. When these kids grow up, they’ll see through their mom.

Each parent is only concerned about their own perspective- these children know adult things that they shouldn't because their mother & father have involved them in. I do agree that it is ridiculous & selfish of him to remarry & be responsible for other children when your first set of children are clearly struggling emotionally. They do not have to accept any step-parent period. If these parents aren't careful their children won't be in either of their lives as soon as they're adults.
When I hear the kids...I picture their mom being in the ear, constantly put down their father and to make sure she looks good!!She has poisoned their kids minds!!
This mother not telling the kids the truth, she's hiding the money behind them , very sad.

“Dead beat dads”is a derogatory term that should not have been created. How do you feel when you are on verge of being homeless, with a mountain of debt, not seeing your kids! This impact can force some hard decisions!
This is just a pile on. The mom's toxicity has poisoned the kids. Even when he offers a solution, they all pile on. Dr. Phil has had shows about parental alienation & this is exactly how it affects everyone. 😢

Excuse after excuse after excuse. Nothing would stop me from seeing my son for a year. That is absurd. And his wife making excuses for him is the reason his kids don’t like her nor respect her.
Mom has definitely been in their ear growing up, painting a bad picture of their father. She knows he's broke and can barely afford anything. Why would she not put those kids in her car, take them to dad's house, and drop them off on a weekend. She doesn't have to do it all the time, but maybe once a month she could help a poor man spend time with his kids.
I’m surprised no one is picking up on how manipulative the mother is. She set up roadblocks and expected him to jump through hoops. This woman is evil.

Something doesn't add up. The father is being skewered and no one is hearing that the mother is alienating him.
The children all have their own phones and vehicles in which the mom provides. She can't alienate the Father. Wtf
Coming from both sides in my life, the mother made it really rough, the husband deserves to have a life he isnt married to their mom. And he made mistakes too. But it gets harder and harder the longer you go without. They expect him to be perfect.. snd only there for them.
My daughter is going through a similar situation and has gone 100% no contact with her father. That is his future.
The mom taught the kids to hate him. A 14 year old "knows" too much about the financial situation of her parents. Its wild to see kids pretend to know things they don't understand.
