Anyone else find it weird that Chris went to the table and played in frame 2 after mark potted on break. It’s as if no-one clocked that a ball went in middle on break not even the ref???
Mark definitely saw the ball going in the middle. You can see him looking at the ball going in and then reacting accordingly. Then Chris sort of hesitates to stand up and looks at the ref like he wanted a sort of confirmation. Very strange. Maybe we are missing a rule?
@@iforwmsI see so he made a 3 point not 4 point break. I’m used to international rules and thought cus it was a 3 pointer it was fine. Thanks for clearing that up 😀
Good match!! Love both of these guys so much .. 👍 Strange foul incident tho! Never seen that before.. Chris handled it like the absolute CHAMPION he is tho - total CLASS & great sportsmanship ♥️ Hope Mark appreciated that too!
To keep the balls straight, without it, the balls could be tilted, and if you notice there is a line in the table the triangle i think is made from plastic .. the out the triangle on the line ( hope you understood my English isn't good 🫡😬)
Also class from Chris. He refused to take ball in hand and played from the position Williams left him. So the foul basically had no impact on the game. Obviously they both weren't aware of the rule.
in snooker its legal ....Mark as eccentric snooker player likes to do silly shots for entertainment even mid air shots ive seen him do ,! again perfectly legal in snooker.....as long as you hit the cue ball and object ball its fine !! for some reason its taboo in these rules !!
I agree it seems a strange rule, but I can understand why he shot it that way. Some of it comes from how Mark plays, he has done this often in snooker. However, on that particular shot, he is attempting a 2 rail kick shot, with the cue ball close to the rail. One handed is a good way to sight the line as well as stroke the shot without putting any unwanted side on the cue ball. This is a simple way to lay the cue on the rail and use one hand while focusing on making a very accurate stroke.
This is literally the hardest version of 8 ball in the entire world, just because it doesn’t play like American or English pool doesn’t make it strange
No. Because he hit a solid first means a solid have to be potted to be on that suit. So if only the stripe went in then it would have been loss of turn.
@@thomasheal6286 Oh OK thanks, I am in London, England where we tend to play English 8-ball with various rules and I know this is Chinese pool, but think in 9-ball you can still pocket or pot a higher number ball alone, just as long as you hit the lower number ball you are on first.
I do agree. When I went to China and played I had all them logos on me. And when I was cueing the logos were constantly getting in the way. The cue sticking to the logo and when I follow the cue through my hand hits the logos so having so many logos is crazy.
Mark seems to play reckless shots when he can't pot anything easily, it's as if he is playing someone crap down his local pub. I don't understand why he would go all the way to China for a tournament and play like that.

what a stupid game this is ? setting the balls up ? not getting balls up the top end of the table is a foul ? just who dreams up these silly ways of playing this game

4 balls have to cross the baulk line, or 1 potted and 3 balls cross the baulk line etc. So foul break and Chris' turn.
@@iforwms yeah, that’s it! Thnx

My god, those bloody stopwatches!!!
56:55 chris melling magic
And then the black after lol
then he miss the 8 lol.
Its a pretty straightforward shot
Melling is a genius. So satisfying to watch.
It’s like Mark is just having fun, so good that he is totally relaxed
Great match & upload.
I just wish they used red/yellow balls, instead of these.
Would make it much easier to follow.
Totally agree, would be much more watchable especially on TV
Thank you two for the good pool...
How big are the China tables is it 10 ft by 6 ft or something else
10:50 did the referee forget to take the triangle, or is this the correct rule if the breaker doesn't hit 3 balls past baulk?
Good match!! Love both of these guys so much .. 👍
Strange foul incident tho! Never seen that before.. Chris handled it like the absolute CHAMPION he is tho - total CLASS & great sportsmanship ♥️

What’s the triangle thing from the table they remove after the break?
It’s a magic rack to keep balls nice and tight for the break
it was originally an American 9-10 ball invention to try and eliminate break rigging iirc ?
To keep the balls straight, without it, the balls could be tilted, and if you notice there is a line in the table the triangle i think is made from plastic .. the out the triangle on the line ( hope you understood my English isn't good 🫡😬)
Mark wasn't even taking it serious 😁
Ok kid
anyone know what was happening at 1:19:20?
I'm so used to see Mark in a snooker table, that he looks like a giant near a pool table.
He really doesn't....the tables are the same height
1:20:00 what was all this about?
Break let Mark down there, if he hadn’t given up so many breaks to Melling he’d have won the match
Wat is the difference between 8 ball..and heyball???? Can anyone tel me please???
I think Heyball is just the Chinese name for 8 ball, but the pockets seems a bit tighter
The balls are bigger, American sized balls @@420PNE
What was going on at 1:36:50??
It is a foul to play a shot one handed except for disabled players.

@@thomasheal6286what is shooting a shot with a rest then?
@@justinmontemayor310I guess you need the opposite hand on the rest?
1:56:13 he should have added trace of left hand side so the cue ball would go under the 5 ball
Mark, do you have enough sponcers on your waistcoat ?
Every player has to wear this amount of logos in the event. The tournament sponsors.
All the players have got loads of logos on their shirts, not just Mark
Mark was obviously struggling on such a slow table. Poor chris seemed shocked at how small the pockets were.
The pockets should be tight. Being a Professional Pool Player shouldn't be easy.
1:36:40 I don't know why Mark played it one handed but seems like it was called a foul? Seems quite a strange rule

What a nervous tick of his middle finger from Mark
Not a tick a lot of players do it. It helps the time the ball better.
He’s done it his entire career, it’s not a tick.

Incredibly tight pockets
Wonder if the pool players could get as close playing snooker?
I know that Gareth Potts was decent enough to turn pro years ago but went for pool instead. Still pretty decent player
Mark Selby started out as a pool player (and has returned to it), Chris Melling has had a few 147s.
That first game was hard to watch
Because mellow was afraid of Mark
Why don't they use actual triangles?
wtf just happened with chris at 22mins
Tried to pot the ball by kissing blue but failed?
