Its not easy for me to comment on this oratorio. Although not a fan of Peter Sellars he outdid himself this time. Its non obtrusive and allows the voices to carry it. What a cast! I really have to say i can't listen to Lorraine without crying especially Angels ever bright and fair. For those of you who have not listened to the entire oratorio please do it is uplifting it frees you from the mundane and sad world we live in. Thank you to the entire cast and to you peter for showing your humanity.
Blessed are those who had the honour to share the stage in 1996 with LHL, how could they have known what a privilege it was to become in their musical careers.

It is about martyrdom and it is all about the killing of martyrs - the setting being modern America makes the point that these kind of martyrdoms are still happening even in countries that some call "Christian".
