Trying something a bit new. I'd love to know what you think of this style of video and series. If it's not your cup of tea, that's totally okay! Such a series is a long-overdue creative outlet for me, and I thought it might be worthwhile sharing the journey as this build slowly comes together.
the frame looks really good, but have you tried putting tiles on their side connecting in between the black frame, I feel like it could close that tiny gap a bit
Well on the one hand it’s easier on you and I absolutely love your idea! But on the other hand there’s no bulk brick placing timelapses :/ so I don’t have input really. I guess just do what you want :)
I’m sorry to hear that the Minecraft display is kinda tedious to make as that is how I found your channel and I greatly enjoy those videos, but I appreciate any video that you put out and how much variety you have. Thanks for all the time you spend making awesome content for us and remember to do what you enjoy Cheesey!
That means a lot, Mr. Tiling (love that name lolol). I'm hoping that being able to build freely with this MOC will help me enjoy doing the Minecraft series again too. I know the series means a lot to a great deal of people, so I want to make sure my heart's in it too!
@@CheeseyStudiosRemember that you can’t force yourself to like something, if it’s not working, it’s better to make a change in your process . I’ve been fatigued too with projects I try to be very consistent with. Eventually that process of doing the same thing over and over stops being fun. I’m mostly talking about presentation, your displays always surprise me. 😄
As someone who also films my own builds, I understand not filming the process. The fans watch your videos for you, so as long as you enjoy making videos, we will watch.
This is really cool! I can’t wait to see where it goes. You should add a sea monster chasing the boat, that would be hilarious lol. I understand how time consuming filming those Minecraft videos can be, you can tell how much effort you put into them - I’m glad you’re making it easier on yourself.
Just from seeing the base/frame, I'm super excited to see how you progress throughout this sick new build! Love the idea of having a boat circle around the island, hopefully it won't be a problem later on! Also, sorry to hear about the long video process for the minecraft series, it sounds very tiresome. Take as much time as you need and keep up the amazing videos!
Once I get the water tiled off, getting that boat built and running will definitely be priority #1! I think I can get it to work one way or another. A backup plan might be to install a motor within the ship to to help it move along if the 9v motor isn't enough
I'm already excited to see the finished project! Also, everyone can wait for the next Minecraft World episodes as long as it means your health and joy comes first.
This is awesome! This is a really cool style of video, and I can’t wait to see your progress on this over time! That Boat idea is so creative, and definitely what I am looking forward to seeing! Keep up the awesome content Cheesey!
Appreciate it! I may start work on the boat for the third episode. That's gonna be a fun one as I honestly don't see a lot of ships these days from the MOCing community.
This series sounds amazing and I’m super excited to watch, one thing that I think would make this moc more interesting is if you made it appear that the water is spilling over the boarder. This would give off the effect that the build is more expansive, make it appear that the boat isn’t at the very edge of the water, and would also give you the chance that the boarder is mixed into this underwater/rocky cliff side. This would allow you add rocks, fish, plants, etc… to make for a more interesting viewing experience. Other than that love your channel and I am very excited to follow this series.
I think we can often get busy and distracted with other builds involving RUclips (such as the Minecraft world) and can tend to forget How special building projects like this can. be glad to see One of the Castle Brothers back at it! I'm truly excited to see the final result.
Hell yeah! I agree that sometimes the builds that people enjoy most of you just aren't the ones that oneself enjoys the most. These passion projects are always wonderful, and I hope you'll have a lot of fun with yours!
Building what you want when you want just feels more satisfying than being on a schedule that’s just another part of the grind. Anyways good luck and have a nice night :)
Ha! I know, right? It's quite delightful just slapping pieces around with no regard for color coordination. It's beautiful and charming in its own way!
You had me at "Island Castle". 😉 I am so excited to watch this series! I think it's really amazing to watch the progress of a build like this. I will be tuning in for more episodes, for sure!
Have you considered using multiple carts, say with a distance of 90 degrees, and building another circular plate layer of water on top for the boat to rest on? That way, you wouldn't have to worry about stressing the cart or the tracks' visibility. Great video as always, very much enjoyed the change of pace!
Already in love with this. Love dramatic castles on a tall cliff. Working on one myself actually! Good luck! Already looking forward to the next update in a couple months.
A colourful castle sounds great! Your gateway to the sea was how I found you as I was looking for inspiration on how to add colour to my own castle MOC. Excited to see how this next one turns out as your skills have clearly improved massively since then
Super excited about this series! I know you don't want to be stressed about recording things but I think even just a simple static shot that shows you building some stuff would be fun. No pressure of course
Really interested to see what you do when not constrained by a theme. I also like how you mentioned new techniques and builds to learn along the way, as the Minecraft series consistently surprised me with the techniques you utilize there, so now I'm double curious. I discovered you through your Minecraft builds, but I stay because I genuinely enjoy YOU and your content. Whatever you build, and however you build, I'm sure to enjoy! Have a great life, man!
This is such a unique thing to see from you! It's really nice to see a new style of building video than the others. As much as I love the Lego Minecraft sets, taking a break from them would probably do wonders for your mental health when it comes to your enjoyment of these builds. I will say the biggest piece of advice I could give with this new build log style of video is to get a hand held stabilizer for your camera. It'll make the process so much easier for the viewer to watch without the tiny little motions blurring and shaking the shot.
I can see why filming the Minecraft videos would become draining. I'm happy to see you building what you want, how you want. Good luck on your life-size bicycle moc!
This is unexpected but, honestly i'm very excited! A bit of a castle/western theme interest has rather kicked up as of late given stuff i've seen around oyutube and I have to say i'm quite excited to see your spin on this! I think you deserve to take as much time as you wish and it's good to have agency, compared to the limitations of the other series- you've given us plenty of insight already with your content!
Me too! I figure I'll go as tall as I can with the parts I have. It's always the tall builds that make a big impact at shows. Love being able to see something towering above a crowd!
This was such a great change of pace for me. As much as i love the Minecraft videos this just truly seems more interesting to me. I would love to see more of this series and the idea seems so wonderful to me. I know the Minecraft series is very popular and brings in a lot of fans but this video seems like a breath of fresh air for me. Sure the Minecraft videos are great and you do such a great job with them but this just seems so much more creative and really brings that lego message of creativity. As much as i love Rivendell its got so many great parts so i can see why it might be taken apart. Really great intro to this series and i am very excited to see where this is going.
Depending on where you are going with the style of castle build, a dragon flying in a similar circle could be cool. But it would mean building a motor into the base now and feeding Axel up thru the center
Your channel is so relaxing, i don’t mean this as an insult but I use your videos to help me sleep, they are so relaxing and really help calm me down before I try and sleep
Don’t have a ton of experience with the Lego trains, but if you’re worried about the weight of the boat being too much, you could try using gears. Maybe put a motor in the boat and then line the sides or bottom with threads so there is more than just friction that makes the boat move.
I had a similar experience at Brickworld this year where I brought very little of note and felt a bit disappointed. I've been non-stop building since I got back, even though I typically take the summer for non-lego projects.
This is a really cool concept! I came to your channel to watch your minecraft Lego set videos, but i stayed for everything else you have made. Keep it up!

I’m really looking forward to see how this comes together and I hope it’ll be a nice change of pace for you and the channel. I can imagine how filming the Minecraft videos could take some of the joy out of building the mocs due to all the pictures, videos, and setup that needs to be done while building. Stuff like that is the reason why I don’t really film my build process and instead usually just post the final moc.
I've recently been getting into building Lego mocs and I've definitely been in the position where I'm looking at a finished Lego set which happens to have the parts I need. No Lego sets are safe
Interesting premise with the circular base and the moving ship, I’m looking forward to seeing where you take this MOC. Are there any real life inspirations for the build? It kind of sounds a bit similar to places like St Michael’s Mount in the UK or Carcassonne’s medieval town in France.
your minecraft building videos are my favorite, but i dont watch them for the minecraft aspect; i just like watching people build cool mocs. so im glad youre trying something new :)
Thank you! This is going to be a fun little project. I have a pretty solid plan which is nice (built it out in Minecraft, go figure lol!) but there'll be some fun challenges along the way - especially that ship!
This is an amazing moc design! I was wondering, however, do you plan to have the water move with the boat? What I mean by that is to have the water on the path of the boat on hinges which can then be moved up and down as the boat cart rolls underneath, like those Lego wave machines. Can't wait to see what's next!
It might be too expensive if you've got only 1 camera but it might make the Minecraft setup less tedium if you set up all your shots before starting so you can just get into build flow and not need to worry about changing shots. Then you'll also have the freedom to pick angles as you edit
