  • After sweeping the Mets in arguably their most impressive series of the year, the notoriously inconsistent 2024 Mariners proceeded to get swept by a mediocre Tigers team. The constant up-and-down of the past four or so months has gone beyond the point of frustration and exhaustion for Ty and Colby, who share some of their thoughts on the state of the team as things currently stand.

    The problem I see with the offensive talent acquisitions is they take decent players and put the pressure on them to carry the team. A good lineup has decent players top to bottom with a star or two sprinkled in. We added polanco and Garver who were good players and expected them to help carry this team. That’s why you need an ohtani or a judge or a trout because those players raw talent brings everyone up. Garver isn’t mentally strong enough to have that kind of responsibility. Neither was Wong or winker or Richie sexton or chone figgins. Also Julio isn’t that type of player either, he gets hot but then tries to play hero ball because no one else can do anything.

    "It really doesn't seem like this team has a shared goal, and it doesn't seem like this offense plays for one another." Who does that fall on?? I keep hearing from you guys and Mariner Mojo it's not Scott but it is. He brings no inspiration to this team and you can see it on his face and how he acts night in and night out. Only excuses every night on how great the other team pitched. If you guys wanna keep saying "it's not his fault" then tell me what he does that's good? Oh and his bullpen management and daily lineups are god awful too.

      I atleast saw Softy put out a tweet since he couldn't wait till the morning, and he's right, he basically said if they fired Servais now....what exactly are you losing? I'm with you attitude reflects leadership and Salk said it months ago and I rarely agree with him cause he is one the Mariners biggest water carriers. He said when the players voiced same concern of fans and then the whole public apology forcing Cal to do that, there is no way you can tell me the clubhouse was gonna rally behind Servais and Dipstick.

      Lineups do mean a lot...it's like back in the day Lou saying, "Hey Griff" uve struggled against Jose Lima, 2 for 14 with 7 K's so I'm gonna drop from third to eighth in the lineup. Amaral has owned him so I'm gonna bat him 3rd. This what a Servais lineup does...players have roles in a line up like football players do. Bathing Rojas 4th when he's a 7 to 9 hitter is a joke and I guarantee the opposing pitchers r like hell ya and I'm sure Julio loves as they pitch around him.... baseball has changed.

    There is no “opportunity” left for this team. The opportunity was there when they were 10 games up. That was the opportunity to bring the hammer down and show that this team IS a contender, and a force the rest of MLB needed to fear. Instead, they started playing like clowns, and the season is over.
    This is the fourth-straight year where, late in the season, the Mariners have been in a position where they really must win EVERY GAME, and also need another team/teams to simultaneously lose just to hope to sneak into the playoffs. And that is a strategy that doesn’t usually work.
    The “step back” didn’t work. Jerry and Scott have failed…Like I knew they would.

    • @zackbleecker7630
      @zackbleecker7630 26 дней назад +1

      9 years, one playoff appearance, Pete Carroll was fired for WAY LESS, beyond time Seattle Media holds these clowns accountable...Roster construction, lack of coaching, and Servais managing from a spreadsheet constantly the players just have to absolutely be sick of this shyt.

    • @rexpresto
      @rexpresto 25 дней назад

      @@zackbleecker7630 It’s really fascinating on a couple of levels. Have they developed strong, excellent starting pitching? Absolutely. They have brought up two solid “core” players in Julio and Cal…They both have their issues at the plate, but usually can come through when needed.
      But…
      Those young arms could explode at any time…Look at Matt Brash or Spencer Strickland. Out for a year, or more.
      DiBozo has made only two trades that have really had a positive impact, and those were for Castillo and JP. But, Castillo can get rattled, and runs his pitch count up (Lord know me that Scott gets a rash whenever any pitcher gets within 25 pitches of 100)…JP is never going to hit .300, but he can hit… .260, when he is “on”. Hopefully, Arozarena won’t suffer “Marineritis” at the plate over the long term.
      On the whole…I really don’t know if DiBozo & Co. are just bad at evaluating trade/FA talent…Or if it’s the team’s hitting philosophy that turns good/decent hitters into Kolton Wong and Mitch Garver…Man, I still hope Garver can get it back next year.
      In any case…This is the sixth season since DiBozo decided to “step back”, and there should be more to show for it than one damn playoff spot. The Phillies, Dodgers, Red Sox, etc. would can everyone by now if they had the Mariners track record of “success” over this period of time.

That, unfortunately, is just how the Mariners have always been. They win game they should not, they lose games they should not.

      They lost both games to the Pirates so far.

    Morning Guys … love your dialog!
    So I had a thought early this AM … could the Mariners sudden “collapse” after that encouraging weekend sweep of the Mets have anything to do with the Robles extension? Because his extension announcement happened on Monday the 12th on their day off prior to facing the Tigers again.
    And SINCE the announcement the Mariners have been a shell of themselves, punctuated by the 15-1 debacle on Tuesday - the day AFTER the Robles announcement.
    Could the management decision to extend Robles (although justifiable based on his performance over the past two months) have ruffled the feathers of long time Mariner vets who are also anticipating extensions as well … such as Cal and others? These guys have delicate egos and something as otherwise benign as an extension to a new player may upset their fragile chemistry.
    We’ll see how this all plays out in the upcoming series against Pittsburgh and the Dodgers - but if my “theory” holds true we may be limping home from this road trip in a deep hole that will likely eliminate us from playoff contention. I sure hope I’m wrong - but I’m certainly not optimistic the way this team has performed since our 10-game division lead had evaporated only a couple months prior.

    The one win the Tigers blew a 3 run lead in the 9th and beat our ass 15 to 1 so I wouldn't say they beat themselves

    Im 54 and have been a Mariner fan from day one and i can honestly say this is the absolute most disappointing team they have ever had. 4 absolute stud starting pitchers who have a combined salary at around 7 million, a stud catcher making less than a mill and yet they go cost cutting. This shouldve been theyre year. This starting staff is equivalent to paying Mahomes on his rookie contract. I know Dipoto was cash strapped but instead of getting 2 stud players, got 4 bandaids to patch holes and expected a 23 year old kid to carry the offense with nobody that even puts a little scare into an opposing pitcher. Makes no sense its s joke snd way to much pressure on this kid....Servais why dont u play more small ball BUNT, HIT AND RUN...why r u always waiting on the long ball? This analictic crap is playing to much into his decisions, players constantly moving up an down the lineup is a joke...i played from little League to high A ball and i knew who i was as a hitter and where i would be best in a lineup. Bsck in the day we knew the lineup every day. Analytics cant decifer certain things like adrenaline how a player felt that day etc. what happened to the great mansgers who managed baseball on feel, smarts, and wisdom? Why cant we get an owner whos a true diehard fan whi wants to win instead of making a million when hes a billionare. Us fans deserve more. Weve bucked up to get the stadium weve bucked up to fill it. Wow...on evey level the Mariners are the wirst franchise ever in North American history its a joke!!! DONE PAYING EXFINITY DONE PAYING THE OUTRAGEOUS FEES TO WATCH A GAME AT THE BALLPARK ...DONE OERIOD AND I HAVEN'T EVEN BEGUN TO SAY ALLI WANTED TO SAY...NDONE

    When I first became a fan and for the first idk 5 years, I would agree that nah maybe I dont care as much.
    Its been over a decade. I dont care about the playoffs at all anymore. I just wanna enjoy a baseball season. Who cares what it looks like for the last 5% when for 95% of the regular season in recent memory is just... WTF

    The thing that really just makes me sad. Is this starting rotation is good enough to win us the World Series if we could just make the fucking playoffs and at least have some sort of usable offense even the next team we’re playing Pittsburgh has been losing like crazy at least they are trying and fighting. Every game is close if they knew how to actually close games they would have a better record then the Mariners right now.

    How does every player that is decent elsewhere come here and poop the bed? It has to be something with this organization that takes decent players and turns them into dog shit. Cool, you can develop pitching, but if you can't even manage to get their bats to hit average, wtf does it matter? They think they can bring in Turner and get him to help teach the younger guys to hit gmafb

    Should Mariners blow up the team and start over ?? Not enough talent on offense and owner will not spend enough money to bring in Big free agent like Vlad Guerrero or someone like that
