    what about replacing the struts?

      @@djerickd1976 did that...didn't help. I actually came to the conclusion that the shockes themselves rattle even when fully closed. I never fully resolved this except when the shocks were removed completely. I traded in the car last year

      Yeah...this doesn't work great either but I think its a start. Somehow the gas shocks are unstable when the trunk is closed

      Pretty sure that's where the noise is coming from

      The gas shocks themselves rattle. Need to stabilize them somehow when the trunk is closed. Remove the gas shocks entirely and the rattle dissappears

    Another way to achieve the same thing without looking like total crap would be stick the foam in the trough where the shocks rest with a U cut into it. They stay put when you raise the hatch but still support the shock when it's closed. Black foam would also look a lot better. I have a GT2 so my shocks are way bigger in diameter but I may give this a try. It hardly ever rattles with the washers under the bump stops but still not 100% fixed.

      @matthewolson8875  2 года назад

      Its still not fixed...I used different foam but its still there. I'm convinced these shocks are the issue because when I remove the shocks completely the rattle is gone

      @@matthewolson8875 I was experimenting earlier with a foam pool noodle - the kind they sell at the dollar store for kids to swim with. They're rounded with a 1" hole already in the middle. With a little whittling with the knife I could shape it perfectly to fit in the trough, enlarged the hole a bit to fit the shock better - and mounted it with a short piece of two-sided foam tape. A touch of black spray paint and the piece of foam looks factory. Just need to testdrive and see if the thunk is solved. I also inserted the washers in the door brackets but didn't like the sound of the latch when I opened it - sounded noticeably louder like it was under stress...so I removed the washers.

    are you sure that the original shocks aren't sturdier? They may look the same ! By the way, i think you block the gutter with these plastic inserts, not that you get a lot of water in the trunk with heavy rain. Perhaps make a channel at the bottom. What about an insert in the gutter ( with a channel ) like a sort of cradle because that piece of plastic doesn't look pretty.

    • @matthewolson8875
