TMoonStone 789 Don't forget the treatment of Cyclops as he's a bad ass in the comics and leader of the X-Men. In the movies, he's relegated to sidekick and weakling.
I didn't like that she was killed off after first Class. Anyone who read Old Man Logan knows that she stayed young looking. It's a psychic allusion. She really looks old. I would have loved that being added to the movies.

Soo true . Thats correct. That is why famke jenssen said in an interview that Hollywood is really sexist. And our female characters are not considered as much as the male superhero. Wolwerine has been given soooo much screen time that we as viewers didnt get to see other important and more influential characters of X-Men. Too bad
@@diegorivera6870 that's hilarious, there are more powerful members then wolverine, the only reason he was a central focus in the films was because of Hugh jackman.
Cyclops in the movie franchise is depicted as a timid mutant rather than the leader he is in the comics. Most comic books stories were written around him and in the films he was neglected.
Cyclops has always been the heart and soul of the X Men. Each time something big happens to the team, we can notice him changing and growing in a way closer to the situation that the mutants are in. However, in the movies, it's almost Wolverine. Yes, I know that Wolverine and characters like Mystique and Deadpool have their own stories outside of their team, but when it comes to the X Men, it's always about the one eyed king and his character evolution through the stories. Even when he is removed from the X Men, he will come back and even if he does go on a journey outside of the X Men, he will be tied back to his team or his enemies in an instant.
Finally Free and Jean was destroying the world in the 3rd and unlocking the Phoenix force in the 2nd. Storm got 2 or 3 power scenes in the 2nd, but 0 character development and meant very little to the overall story. In the comics she's done so much more and had much more character development. And she leads, fights, and speaks way more. Count her lines in the films. There aren't many. It's not just about giving her more power usage. It's about giving her more to do that actually adds to the plot. It's about making her role more significant.
They ruined Rogue. She was an awesome comic book character. They need to start X-Men Movies from scratch again. Give Rogue her flight, strength and personality back!
Original rogue power was absorbing power of other mutant. She only gained her super strenght and flight ability when she permanently absorb the power of ms. Marvel
Technically, Rogue got her powers from Ms. Marvel. Maybe it's a licensing issue? Maybe when the Fox X-Men Universe merges with the MCU it might be different.
They needed stronger characters for Rogue, Storm, and Cyclops. They were poorly cast and poorly written. @@TheReal_Pim_Tool James Marsden and Halle Berry were pretty good for their roles Cyclops and Storm. Rogue, that dumb chick from True Blood was a horrible choice, god awful was her character in the movies. Nothing at all related to the 90s tv series and comics.

The Last Stand, WTF Days of Future Past (Rogue Cut), still noting? Seems my friends were right to be worried about Rogue. Maybe when they finally remake the franchise, like they already did with Spider-Man twice, they can get it right
The one I hate the most is from X3, in the scene where Charles and Magneto go into Jean's house. As Charles passes by Juggernaut, HIS STEP-BROTHER, there's literally no interaction.
X3 is the child no one talks about. Hell, even the "timeline reboot" that was Days of Future Past had to pretend it didn't happen. After all, if X3 had happened, we missed a hell of a story about how Prof X got reconstituted from being vaporized by the Phoenix.
anubis243 I believe that actually was explained during part of the movie and showed up later in a post-credits scene. Something about transferring his conscience from one body to another.
Rogue was always my favorite character in the comics and cartoons, and it destroys me that she'll probably never get justice in the movies. Here's hoping for a reboot of her story with with Gambit!!
Shit look what they did to CYCLOPS, he was always my favorite and he got reduced to shit in the the original 3 movies, it turned into the Hugh Jackman show, OK...I'll give you the 1st movie his character was pretty decent, the 2nd movie he gets his ass kicked and we don't see him again till the end of the movie and the 3rd flick they kill him off.
I am not sure how Rogue would turn out in the proposed Gambit film. Being a supposed origin story, I am not sure how Rogue would fit into the picture. But being a Rogue fan myself as well, Rogue is a formidable mutant. The fact that she was able to defeat Ms. Marvel is a statement on how strong a character she is. Not that Anna Pacquin is not a good actress either. I believe she is a very good one. But with very poor material, she can only do as much. Rogue as a person is also a character. She is a Southern Belle and you cannot help but notice that in the comics. Thing is I neither like her nor hate her in the film. She's just there. And if I am going to tell the story to a friend who has not seen the film, I can completely skip the parts whete she was included and the results would be the same.
Yes rogue was badass in comic does not listen anybody and she was like angry lady. And cyclops was leader of the xman and he is coolest character among all the comic characters.(for me) Gambit was crazy and always flirt with rogue. I like x man movies for there plot and action but when we watch overall franchises they showed nothing how were chracters and how much they important. Xman movie is only wolverine's movie..
mk6rfc1 Granted they actually put in work on Rogue in comics and didn't even tryin the films. Tragic runaway victim Rogue was portrayed perfectly in the films but they never tried to move her past that stage of her life.
+Greg Caldwell I dunno like in the original trilogy my biggest complaint is defo her like she is just such a shit undeveloped and unlikeable character to me, even in DOFP she was cut out and just got cameo and was sidelined to a directors cut
mk6rfc1 Rogue was a big problem with the series. I personally always liked when the comics and cartoon showed her vulnerable side and tragic backstory. She wasn't always the tough chick people know but she became such a powerful, witty, fun and sassy woman later and the films didn't even show any evolution. The sad part is I think Anna was sorta led to believe she would eventually get to play that version of Rogue later and it never happened.
Anna Paquin said in Twiiter she would come back as Rogue if she get to be badass Rogue and not shy teen Rogue. Sad, because that's not going to happen now and Brian Synger will probably recast Rogue with another young and bad actress. :/
She didn't have super strength nor the ability to fly until after she absorbed captain marvels powers, so as a child, before she did this, she would have just had her absorption powers, that said, she was raised by mystique and was decidedly 'bad' until she DID suck out captain marvels powers and leave her in a coma. That event is what sent her to the x-men's side in the first place. Aside from super powers the personality of captain marvel, who is always on the side of right and good, got absorbed and made her the person she was best known as, a badass hero with spunk.
Well he originally wasn't going to have his own stand alone film, but people of the popularity of Hugh Jackman playing him, Fox decided to go with a Wolverine spinoffs.
Dionte Brown but she was cast in First Class in 2010 which was released in 2011... even in 2011, despite having 1 Oscar nomination, was not that well known, it was actually First Class that gave her more recognition then the Hunger Games and Oscar win made her a household name and that's why Fox wanted her to have more screen time and a more important role
Mystique was fucked the moment Jennifer Lawrence was cast for the role. Big name meant huge screen time, in her more human looking form more often than her true blue and being way too integral to the plot than other characters.
Back when she was cast as Mystique for First Class she was not even a big name, I think they choose her cause she looked like Rebeca Romjin, the 2000s Mystique. I agree that the fact that she became a big name after that hurted the movies though.
seededsoul it's because Fox has her (JLaw Mystique) being a hero instead of a villain and being more herself (JLaw) than being her blue Mystique self. I'm paying to see Mystique, not JLaw
I think the older mystique (rebecca) is the better mystique because she's a perfect villain beside magneto, focus on her target and body language, and no self doubt. But The younger mystique is not really bad because she's still young and had a lot of emotion and self doubt (But not as a villain)
How about portraying Quicksilver and NOT Scarlet Witch? They're supposed to be the twin children of Magneto, but only his son appears in the film franchise. I guess it also hurts that the MCU doesn't even have mutants.
AnimaMandala Mutants don't exist in the MCU because Marvel Studios and Disney don't own the film rights to the term "mutant" for comic book films and they made a deal stating each studio would develop one of the Maximoff twins with Disney/MCU getting Scarlet Witch and Fox getting Quicksilver
Where in my comment does it even suggest that I'm not aware of that? Literally all I'm stating is that it's also a difference. That's it. I also never said I had a problem with it.
AnimaMandala You're both right and wrong. Yes, we all know the MCU can't mention mutants. However, it's not true that they could only use SW. QS is in Age of Ultron. He was killed due to Whedonism. It's the result of being in a Joss Whedon film where he just has to kill off a beloved character. He wanted to kill Hawkeye but the studio wouldn't let him so Pietro got the axe instead. As for Fox's Marvel Universe we do see one of Pietro's sisters it's just not Wanda. Polaris is shown as a little girl in DOFP. Fox could have used SW if they wanted but chose not to probably because they knew AoU was going to feature the twins in a prominent role.
They wasted her in the following movies which was a shame. But I was glad they did not replicate her in the movies from the cornpone Rogue in the animated series. I hated her voice in the cartoon.
carldavis926 and LBF522 I don't know, I think Cyclops might top them all, what Fox did to his character should LITERALLY be considered a crime of some sort. I love Wolverine and all but come on, looking back the whole series just kind of seems like a bunch of writers trying to figure out how to get him back on the screen each chance they get lol!
Ignasi Martí Palet if Deadpool was made by Marvel Studios it would be way better though it was a good film for a fox film. When Marvel recreates Deadpool after they get the writes back I hope they recast Ryan Reynolds
Norman Lueck I haven't watched the 90's series. Do you believe that this series served the X-Men way more right than their live action movies, or is it a corny representation of the children of the Adam?
The reason they did that to Mystique wa because of Jennifer Lawrence...seriously. I am not saying I dont like that actress but because of her, at the end they gave us a smurf Catniss Everdeen...Hunger Games protagonist but in blue
she's JLaw I bet she has how much screen time she must have in her contract. also she can decide to not play her the exact same way she played Catniss, honestly for all that shite about her range as an actress i only see her doing the same thing over and over
what about the fact they ruined storm's character- a mutant with the potential of being an omega and a leader of the x men several times (even defeated cyclops). The movie gave us a watered down passive storm which flies in the face of the comics.
Jam gee Angela Bassett was supposed to play Storm in the 89 X Men movie that never got made. Ironically enough now she's playing Black Panthers mom instead of his wife.
That's what's disappointing about every X-Men films except the Origins Wolverine when they've fully lacked Gambit even with him and Rogue's love story. I guess they don't get the memo of "The name is Gambit! Remember it!"
Are you forgetting at the end of X-Men Origins, Logan was shot in the head by an adimantium bullet, causing him to forget his name was James, not Logan, as Remy thought it was? Not to mention, Sabertooth had become so animalistic that by the time X-Men rolled around, I would have been surprised if he recognized his own mother.
she's definitely good at mopey and sulky...the entire reimagining of mystique in the reboot was awful. even the child actor that played her was just awful. completely contrary to the whole idea of mystique as a powerful villainess.
This is your list? Any fan knows the biggest and worst difference is that they made Cyclops a background character, almost a side kick instead of the leader of the Xmen. They created the movies around Wolverine when in reality it could arguably be said that in the comics he is there merely for comic relief and the only major development as a character comes from his constant defiance of Cyclops leadership. Imagine all the Xmen movies with Cyclops as the center figure, The real Cyclops, not the fragile, wheeping little boy they have forced on us!
Magneto has been back and forth with the X-Men for a long time in the comics. He's filled in for Prof X as Headmaster a few times, and not just in alternate realities.
steve stacy I’m curious to see where he stands in the new Dark Phoenix movie....with his name cleared at the end of Apocalypse, he chose to leave anyway....I wonder if he has gotten into trouble again
Lady Deathstrike's portrayal in the film sucked. She was turned from vengeful ex of Wolverine with cyborg body and adamantium claws to brainwashed bimbo who might have had claws but died way too easily and had zero point to her. Watch the 90s cartoon for a more realistic portrayal.
They basically made wolverine the leader and main focus in the movies which kills me because Cyclops is the leader and not at all the weak emotional guy they turned him into, and it never gives the other characters we love a chance to be properly developed! The movies messed up EVERYTHING from the comics! And how many movies does wolverine need!? They even gave him a useless cameo in first class... I'm sorry but they need to stop milking the wolverine fan base and move on. One more wolverine movie dedicated to him and I'm done with X-Men movies.
Persimmon Pepper I actually prefer the prequels over the originals....I honestly like the the Professor X/Magneto relationship and the fact that it was well written...to me lol. I may not know all there is to know about X-Men, but I feel like the prequels gave us the heart of the characters and developed them better than the originals
How can you ignore everything they did to Ororo? Comic: Determined, good fighter (agility above average), intelligent, complex powers (can do several things), not always passive, one of the leaders of the X-men. Movie: slow, clumsy, always depending on someone to save her, terrible in body struggles, always peaceful, no voice of command in the group, powers summed up to lightning and small tornadoes. An amoeba.
You forgot huge a character Storm is in he X-Men universe and how unrecognizable she is in the movies vs her comics counterpart. Also the fact that she's basically been replaced in "importance" by Jean Grey (a character popular for one story and dying over and over again) mainly because she's black. But I can't say I'm surprised, considering she barely even shows up in this video.
It may not be popular but we all know that race DOES have something to do with how they cast characters, even comic book and cartoon characters in Hollywood. They have to make black 'palletable' to their Caucasian consumers. You're either naive or in denial if you claim anything different. There has been plenty of controversy with Hollywood and their casting of African American characters. The only reason Black Panther was such a success was because black producers worked on that film and refused to settle for anything less than excellent. Storm\Ororo Monroe is supposed to be a dark skinned, powerful African goddess, based on the comics and cartoons.
Kid At Heart a producer is by definition: a person responsible for the financial and managerial aspects of making of a movie. The director and writer (black man Ryan Coogler) are the one who inject their vision. So STFU you simple b*tch
All the characters were changed, from mere importance to character.... How was Storm in any way portrayed as a stereotypical black women? Apocalypse had Jean been a little more important but they were equally represented in other movies with Wolverine been the only real character that 'stole the show' and the ONLY reason for that is, Wolverine puts arses in seats.
I love Rogue, and genuinely liked her part in the first X-Men movie. They made her a teenager, so it didn't bother me that she needed rescuing in that movie. It was her movie origin, she didn't have to be a badass right away. But then the sequels came out and they didn't know what to do with her. Unlike Ice Man and Shadow Cat, they never let her step up and use her powers in a legit fight.
I really don't like Jennifer Lawrence portrayal as Mystique. They gave her all the important screen time and made everything revolve around her being a good guy or a bad guy or betrayal or some shit, whatever the fuck is happening with her character
I. Th. Apocalypse I agree with you. I saw more of everyone else in that one but in days of future past and first class Mystique was definitely very pivotal in them. There's a lot of stuff about her in both those movies. Again about her being good or bad her moral dilemmas and her accepting what she is. She got a lot of screen time. I took it a little far she didn't get ALL the time and they didnt COMPLETELY revolve around her, you're right but they definitely made her much more important and im thinking it's cus of Jennifer Lawrence popularity. Just an opinion. Sorry I worded it the way i did originally that was just frustration lol
Jennifer wasn't even as famous when First Class came out. The first film was filmed before she won her first Oscar. It wasn't until following year in Hunger Games in which she became famous and it was obvious that she was no longer just and extra actress in the background, they had to bring up her prominence up quite a bit to fit her bill. Thus her importance came about from her multiple Oscar wins and fame granted by plenty of fans of her movies.
I. Th. Yea i think you just said my problem. I know she was pivotal in DOFP in the comics but my problem was that whole "anti-hero and moral dilemma" thing they gave her. My gripe is with how the movies didnt feel, to me, like they were an Xmen movie. It just seemed like they put more emphasis on her character and her struggles instead of the team as a whole. You said it's more about Xavier and Magneto but that's not the impression i got when i watched. That's personally what I felt watching DOFP and First Class
There's are so many changes from the comics that was not on the list: 1. Shaw did not designed Magneto's helmet 2. Trask is not midget 3. Stryker was not involved in the Weapon X project 4. Mystique was not Xavier's adopted sister 5. Future Sentinels does not have the ability to mimic other mutants' powers 6. Silverfox does not have healing ability in the film, and had new mutant ability: manipulation by touch 7. Agent Zero is not Asian, and has no healing factor. 8. Harada was supposed to be a mutant, and the Silver Samurai. 9. Old man, Yashida was not the Silver Samurai 10. Xavier and Cain Marko (Juggernaut) were supposed to be stepbrothers.
Mr. Asshole By the way, Magneto's helmet doesn't provide protection from thought-reading in the comics. (I began to watch X-men animated series yesterday, so... :D)
No one cares? Then why didn't every X-men film series (Deadpool don't count) gross a lot of $ at the box office, compared to the MCU films? That means not a lot of fan didn't like the X-men series because of the changes, which they don't accept. Most of the series don't quite follow the source material. So that's means they care.
Tachnically she doesn't, she shapeshifts her outfits ^^ Or so I've read, but it makes sense if you think about it (she can only change her own body, so if she wore clothes they wouldn't change when she does).
@@Tesko91 Yes, this is correct, this is also why she is shown shape-shifting different clothes as she changes between looking like different people in the movies... But I think what the guy means, or would based on that same concept, is that in the comics she shape-shifts clothes onto her "natural form self" all the time because it makes sense she would still have a sense of modesty or decency or whatever you want to call it. Her standing there in her "natural form" without any shape-shifted "clothes" on would be exactly the same thing as a non-mutant standing there buck naked. That's not to say that she isn't beautiful in her natural state, but she still probably wouldn't want to walk around naked. This is probably exactly why it is done the way it is in the comics... If she wore regular clothes it would save effort on using her powers and she could just whip them off if need be. Although it seems it takes no effort for her to do certain practiced things (her "normal" Jennifer Lawrence form) so why wouldn't she just shape-shift the coolest clothes she likes onto her natural self...
ZombieWilfred yeah, I got that he meant that, I just felt the urge to point it out heh. I think the only reason she is nude (without shapeshifting clothes or what not) in the movies is 100% fanservice. I totally get your point though, it's a bit weird to just walk around butt naked - especially when the movies has really been adamant with the "Mystique is ashamed of her true self" narrative. I'm sorry if my english is shitty (english isn't my native language), but I like to discuss :)
I believe the reason for the change is due to Days of Future Past. Mystique didn't become the villain because of that alteration and that's why at the end all the mutants that were once dead like Jean cyclops they were alive so technically speaking when he went back to the future was altered timeline from that point
That's sadly people who doesn't read comics or didn't watched the 90's series. Cyclops should've been given the Captain America treatment, trained him with the other X-Men members and since being a kid face off against Magneto on their first day in the battlefield without any experience. That would've given Cyclops a better arc than what we got.
i agree with the list but wolverine cant recognise his bro because he got an adamantium bullet in the head thus making him forget and sabertooth was animalised by magneto making him not a person
Uthman Nasser there's a little tidbit that says Victor's dad is Logan's dad as well. I'll have to do more research but I'm sure that's what the deal is. so you're right my friend
The point of whether Sabertooth recognised him or not is irrelevant. He only shows up in two of the films iirc and in the one where he's fully Sabertooth and not just Victor Creed, he's fully at the 'I don't give a damn, I just want to tear you to pieces' point anyway and he fully recognises him all through Origins.
Cyclops. Completely ruined. X2 was ok with him, but in x men 1 he was a stuck up jerk, in x men 3 he was a whiny stuck up jerk, in x men apocalypse he was a rebel (WTF???).
I never see any difference between the Cyclopses. I think you're both making it up. He's always the exact same guy. Everyone knows, yes, Cyclops is a jerk. I'm very astute, and see absolutely no difference between different Cyclopses. The guy has children with other women in numerous universes, no children in the main universe, and drags his feet with Jean in the main universe. He's trash, and their relationship's an unattractve dead end. I hope people don't actually copy the reationships in Marvel, and DC, as they're always horrible relationships.
How would she transfer her consciousness to her 1970s younger body if she wasn't even born yet? Hell, her parents probably weren't even sexually active. lol
True but timeline in future could have simply introduced Rachel, who actually sent Kitty back, could have sent Wolverine...would have made more sense than giving Kitty an ability she never possessed.
Russ Leonard kitty phases through dimensions. She can phase people through a wall. It’s the same concept only it’s through the 4th dimension which is time.
Actually the original Dark Phoenix in the comic books was also Jean Gray herself. That is what X-Men: Last Stand was based on. This was later retconned in the comics to the more well known and popular story of the Phoenix force.
Melanie Dawn Exactly, since they love black leather so much. At this point I'm just praying for Logan to wear either yellow or orange in a flashback in Logan.
Well the original concept for the costume was to make all characters have their iconic costume, but it didn't translate well, not even the iconic wolverine mask
Wolverine isn't like in the comics. In the comics he's a master tactician and martial artist that was trained as Samurai. In movies he is very weak-minded and doesn't know any martial arts. Not to mention, in the comics he was forced to become Weapon X, while in X-Men Origins he agreed to do the experiment.
she was badass and liked her powers in the comics and even in the cartoon, but in the movie they made her hate her powers cause of some guy she liked that she killed... lame
Both her from the 90s cartoon and from X-Men Evolutions are better than the movie version. They seriously butchered her as a character in the movies. If they meshed the 90s cartoon with Goth Queen of Evolutions in the movie, things would've been better.
That's excatly like in cartoon and comics... She hate her powers... but she is using them to save their friends/family (X-men) because this is the right choice. In movies... she simply is not a super hero...
The X-men movies are so disappointing... it actually makes me really sad when I think about it :( I loved the comics growing up and even the cartoon show back in the 90's
The Magneto change I actually get as he has spent a lot of time straddling that line. He led the New Mutants in the eighties and has spent a lot of time as an X-Man in the last few years (albeit as a more anti-hero character). Also, I get the Wolverine/Sabertooth brothers story because, at the time that movie had been made, the comic Wolverine Origins had strongly implied that this might be true, but that was later disproven.
In the comics, Juggernaut and Professor X are stepbrothers, the Phoenix never killed Cyclops and Xavier, there's no cure for mutants, Beast and Mystique were never a couple.
The mystique from the original movies was amazing. I know it wasn't particularly accurate but I honestly think her silence added to her... "mystique" and I loved the creepy vibe. It made a dark series actually seem dark
"in the graphic novels"? ^-^ "in the original"? "in the better form"? "in the media that makes the most sense"? (Seriously. Even something as simple as make-up. 'Oh we can't feature Nightcrawler because his make-up is too complicated.' When they made Nightcrawler a super catholic with sin marks all over his skin that he etched himself for every sin he made. Or how the Merc with the mouth ended up with no mouth? D: So much more....so much more)
poor gambit :( it’s sad he needs more screen time and justice. he also needs his costume heheheheh rouge though. anna can do the role, but the movie directors ruined it.

The one I hate the most is from X3, in the scene where Charles and Magneto go into Jean's house. As Charles passes by Juggernaut, HIS STEP-BROTHER, there's literally no interaction.
Crash Bandicoot I don't like it either. Mention these things would make the movies a whole lot better.
Something about transferring his conscience from one body to another.
anubis243 It was Brett Rattner who screw it up
juggernaut is not a mutant.
Jenika McCandless thank you for saying with gambit! Yes!
And cyclops was leader of the xman and he is coolest character among all the comic characters.(for me)
Gambit was crazy and always flirt with rogue.
I like x man movies for there plot and action but when we watch overall franchises they showed nothing how were chracters and how much they important. Xman movie is only wolverine's movie..
Can we talk about Storm? She is so useless in the movies when in the comic she's a boss!
Yeah! Fox fucked her character up.
Geoffrey Nkanza yess no ever says this storm could’ve been so good
I agree with you Storm is an omega level mutant and in the comics and 90's animated series was such a badass along with Rogue
Lucius Irving Fox F’d everything up! Just Look at the horrible casting
Don’t worry, the MCU will her justice, with her abilites, her flight, her costume design, and her big white hair
“ Everything about rogue!” Is an understatement. They made her so pathetic in the films! Ugh!
The more frustrating part about Rogue is that Anna Paquin can pull off the Rogue that we know but the writers just had to change her into a crybaby.
At least she did something in X2, then she stopped...
She actually proved to be useful in the Rogue Cut of Days of Future Past.
lol that thumbnail i see the two big differences
Ikr? The suit and the jacket.
Kris Radke That and the chick wasnt that hot at all
Comic books girls are always hot.
Lol someone is gonna read this and get triggered.
Fuck me sideways
Rogue
Comics: apparently she is meant to be a cool character
Movies: she is fucking awful
mk6rfc1 Granted they actually put in work on Rogue in comics and didn't even tryin the films.
mk6rfc1 she's cute though
The movie version of rogue is so bad that Fox should be sued for false advertisement
😂😂😂😂
She didn't have super strength nor the ability to fly until after she absorbed captain marvels powers, so as a child, before she did this, she would have just had her absorption powers, that said, she was raised by mystique and was decidedly 'bad' until she DID suck out captain marvels powers and leave her in a coma. That event is what sent her to the x-men's side in the first place. Aside from super powers the personality of captain marvel, who is always on the side of right and good, got absorbed and made her the person she was best known as, a badass hero with spunk.
Can we all admit that the 90's series gave way more justice to all of the characters?
Except for jean grey she was little bit weak comparing X men evolution
It was a show, of course it did
of course even they made the Dark Phoenix arc much better than in the movies.
No, because I only love comic and live action stuff
@@blancarosales3400 I have three words to say... I... AM... PHOENIX!!!
Forgot to say that Wolverine isn't the main focus on the comics
Exactly.
Well he originally wasn't going to have his own stand alone film, but people of the popularity of Hugh Jackman playing him, Fox decided to go with a Wolverine spinoffs.
They didn't need spinoffs, he was already the main character.
Papi F True the X-men needed a spinoff from Wolverine.
Yeah he and Hugh is popular and all, but it's called X-men. Not Wolverine and other side character superheroes.
I hate that mystique is good. I like her evil. I feel like they are doing that because Jennifer Lawrence is playing her.
0807Kitty Mystique is Neutral
I. Th. That's complete false she was very well known. She had already been nominated for 2 pacers by 2012. And she was cast in the hunger games.
or the fact mystique is like everyone favorite character.
She sucks,Wolverine and Jean are the best!
Rouge used to be badass. Remeber when she was a sassy tomboyish ass kicking machine? Her relationship with gambit also made the comics
There's one thing I like about "Apocalypse": They made Nightcrawler more adorable than other adaptions.
Night crawler sucks in X-Men apocalypse
I like Rebeca Romjin as Mystique quite a bit better.
Tristan Morpheus a lot better
Tristan Morpheus me too
I don't know why but Jennifer Lawrence's take is trash.
seededsoul it's because Fox has her (JLaw Mystique) being a hero instead of a villain and being more herself (JLaw) than being her blue Mystique self.
Also with Storm!! In the comics, she was born with white hair and crystal blue eyes!
Yeah like almost all of her bloodline which inclined to magic as well.
How about portraying Quicksilver and NOT Scarlet Witch? They're supposed to be the twin children of Magneto, but only his son appears in the film franchise. I guess it also hurts that the MCU doesn't even have mutants.
Amen to that!
AnimaMandala you can't be this stupid can you... you're entire comment has been explained multiple times by Fox and Disney
Of all these rogue was the most disappointing to watch on the big screen 🤦🏾♂️
They wasted her in the following movies which was a shame. But I was glad they did not replicate her in the movies from the cornpone Rogue in the animated series. I hated her voice in the cartoon.
carldavis926 and LBF522 I don't know, I think Cyclops might top them all, what Fox did to his character should LITERALLY be considered a crime of some sort. I love Wolverine and all but come on, looking back the whole series just kind of seems like a bunch of writers trying to figure out how to get him back on the screen each chance they get lol!
Thank you!
@@LBF522 I mean she has a Southern accent but how could anyone hate it
@@buildawall5803 I just did not like the sound of it.
THANK YOU!!! Rogue has ALWAYS been my favorite. They lost me about thirty minutes into the first film. Because of the Rogue thing.
Fox can never get these films right except for Deadpool and that's only because Rya. Reynolds fought tooth and nail for comic book accuracy.
Ryan
Deadpool is one of the worst films I've ever seen. His jockes where on the level of 15 year old bipolar teenagers.
@@epicishmaster3164 then it be bad
cyclops is a complete wimp in the films when really he's a legend!!
they made mystique a good guy simply because of jennifer Lawrences drawing power as a top actress. plain and simple. and it's quite annoying
Fernando Andrade Indeed
Oh come on! She was a totally badass! Why can't you love that?
"Everything About Rogue" should be Number #1 😅😂🙌🏻 It was too much!! Rogue Comics Fan 4 Ever! 😍❤️🙌🏻
@Mrq Yaskn definitely
It's a shame that Rogue relationship with Logan went ultimately nowhere after X2. Honestly, not even a name drop in the Wolverine movies
The reason they did that to Mystique wa because of Jennifer Lawrence...seriously. I am not saying I dont like that actress but because of her, at the end they gave us a smurf Catniss Everdeen...Hunger Games protagonist but in blue
It's true, I don't think is Jennifer fault at all. As an actress she doesn't decide the plot.
she's JLaw I bet she has how much screen time she must have in her contract. also she can decide to not play her the exact same way she played Catniss, honestly for all that shite about her range as an actress i only see her doing the same thing over and over
what about the fact they ruined storm's character- a mutant with the potential of being an omega and a leader of the x men several times (even defeated cyclops). The movie gave us a watered down passive storm which flies in the face of the comics.
Miranda Oakwood preach!
I was looking for this comment ...if I remember correctly, she defeated Cyclops when she had no mutant powers (comics).
ANGELA BASSETT SHOULD BE STORM
Jam gee Angela Bassett was supposed to play Storm in the 89 X Men movie that never got made. Ironically enough now she's playing Black Panthers mom instead of his wife.
jam gee I've always thought that. Given her vocal similarities to the 90s cartoon. I love Halle Berry tho
Everybody forgets about Gambit.. I thought maybe they would throw that in there
Quip-machine Gambit would do very well in the MCU
Jmetro713 Nobody forgot him, infact he has his own solo movie coming next year
That's what's disappointing about every X-Men films except the Origins Wolverine when they've fully lacked Gambit even with him and Rogue's love story.
I guess they don't get the memo of "The name is Gambit! Remember it!"
Magneto does go good and bad in the comics as well though.
kittenallie I thought so!!! Honestly I feel the prequels kept true to that part
I know right. He even took over Xavier's role as teacher for a time.
But shouldn't his scent have been familiar?
Russ Leonard not if weapon x was dfucking wit his mind plus he kinda did hence grabbing his dog tags made in origins
I believe Mystique would have become a villain if she wasn't played by Jennifer Lawrence.
Cassidy Leonards Definitely agree!!
Cassidy Leonards Absolutely!
Yeah i agree. I can't see her playing a convincing villain at all
she's definitely good at mopey and sulky...the entire reimagining of mystique in the reboot was awful. even the child actor that played her was just awful. completely contrary to the whole idea of mystique as a powerful villainess.
Rogue was basically just used as a JubiLee substitute. No flight, no super strength, no badassery.
Chiko was here no Ms marvel so it can't happen
Chiko was here You're right. She's discount Jubilee. Tragic.
Echo yes it can. just dont use captain marvel replace her with a mutant that was born with flight and strength. tada
Jubilee was cool though..Movie Rogue was just awfull in any way
Chiko was here jubilee was in the first movie. the class ceane when iceman mead Rouge. she is in background for a small clip.
Rogue also has a southern accent
She does in the first two films. The third and DOFP she doesn't have enough lines so they didn't even try.
she had a Tennessee twang
@@206beastman Mississippi
A twenty something, Holly Hunter.
She had in the first two I think.
And also in the comics professor and Juggernaut are half-brothers and in the movie there no relative of each other at all
5:56 It's kinda cute that Victor is letting a rat chill on his shoulder.
Diego a.m. yeah that is true, but I don’t think the biggest problem was cyclops
In X-Men movies Cyclops is just a bitch, whose leadership is overhshadowed because they had to rely on Hugh Jackman's star power
Watch the 90s cartoon for a better portrayal of all the characters.
He's most peoples favorite that's why, what you want a movie with jubilee as the main character
@@robgookin5083 Yes. I want a Jubilee movie. That is EXACTLY what I want
This is the entire reason I'm not a fan of X-men they give all the protagonism to Wolverine when there better and more characters to develop
Cyclops and rogue was my fvrt character and I did not even know more and care about wolverine but the movie ruined my fvrt character..
How can you ignore everything they did to Ororo?
Comic:
Determined, good fighter (agility above average), intelligent, complex
powers (can do several things), not always passive, one of the leaders
of the X-men.
Movie: slow, clumsy, always
depending on someone to save her, terrible in body struggles, always
peaceful, no voice of command in the group, powers summed up to
lightning and small tornadoes. An amoeba.
Evandro Cesar go to hell you're incorrect fucking idiot
I'm not a fan of the way they making Psylocke a bad guy and forgetting her English origins.
Exactly, Betsy deserves more
Also not putting captain Britain at all
And....Psylocke won second place award as Marvel's Hero Of The Year, two or three years ago and in the movies she's a villain...TWICE!
D Rock Black Panther was produced by the white male Kevin Feige. So STFU
Kid At Heart a producer is by definition:
a person responsible for the financial and managerial aspects of making of a movie.
They gave her all the important screen time and made everything revolve around her being a good guy or a bad guy or betrayal or some shit, whatever the fuck is happening with her character
jennifer also threw a fit and tried to kill the character too
Dregs Wait what? lol Didnt know that
There's are so many changes from the comics that was not on the list:
1. Shaw did not designed Magneto's helmet
2. Trask is not midget
3. Stryker was not involved in the Weapon X project
4. Mystique was not Xavier's adopted sister
5. Future Sentinels does not have the ability to mimic other mutants' powers
6. Silverfox does not have healing ability in the film, and had new mutant ability: manipulation by touch
7. Agent Zero is not Asian, and has no healing factor.
8. Harada was supposed to be a mutant, and the Silver Samurai.
9. Old man, Yashida was not the Silver Samurai
10. Xavier and Cain Marko (Juggernaut) were supposed to be stepbrothers.
Mr. Asshole By the way, Magneto's helmet doesn't provide protection from thought-reading in the comics. (I began to watch X-men animated series yesterday, so... :D)
I care
No one cares? Then why didn't every X-men film series (Deadpool don't count) gross a lot of $ at the box office, compared to the MCU films? That means not a lot of fan didn't like the X-men series because of the changes, which they don't accept. Most of the series don't quite follow the source material. So that's means they care.
I actually don't mind about Midget Trask
Fox is the asshole, ruining the beloved franchise, i wish ryan reynolds doesnt offer them the idea so that one by one Marvel can reclaim the rights
You forgot the fact in the comics MYSTIQUE WEARS CLOTHES!
Mega MovieZ well i mean. Her being naked ain’t bad either
Hey Mojo please make a video about how the Movies diminishes Storm's powers and leadership capacity, PLEASE.
I'm sorry, but Jennifer Lawrence was a bad choice for Mystique
she is a bad choice for everything. hated her in the hunger games.

She was a great Katniss!
but a horrible mystique and we all know it
Lunar Obsession
I don't see why she was hated.
She acted very well!

Rogue is definitely my number one of biggest difference between the movies and the comic books!
na what they did to mystique after jennifer lawrence took over was criminal
Joseph Harris ye. Her character is mad ugly. Rouge was fine as hell
I think the MCU has proved that 95% of what's on the page works on screen.
So where was the Mandarin on screen?
I think the director mistook Mystique(Jennifer Lawrence) to be a character from Avatar
I liked Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.
There's more than 10 but the fact that Scott Summers aka Cyclops is not the leader of the X-Men pisses me off. He's my favourite X-Man!!
Adam Nathaniel Bachert exactly I been telling people that for longest. They made him the worst character in movies.
Adam Nathaniel Bachert He's still the field leader in the first movie mainly, but they didn't want him out shining Wolverine unfortunately.
Andreus Dodson I ask someone who the team leader and they don't know it's him at all.
Frankymack1 Yeah, it's more implied if anything.
Rogue

That's what they meant by the thumbnail right?
NickToVa movies: she's ugly*

NickToVa I thought it was the size of her tits
what's that lol

Yeah like bayou southern which is funny because the actress played a girl from the Louisiana bayou in True Blood.
Comic x-men: shares the world with non-mutant superbeings
Movie x-men: mutants are the only superpowered beings that exist in the world
I perfer and wish is was Rogue in both Comic/TV Show verison unlike the movie who make her weak and boring.
i agree with the list but wolverine cant recognise his bro because he got an adamantium bullet in the head thus making him forget and sabertooth was animalised by magneto making him not a person
Uthman Nasser there's a little tidbit that says Victor's dad is Logan's dad as well. I'll have to do more research but I'm sure that's what the deal is. so you're right my friend
Stryker did.
Tony Garcia yh right
He's talking about Sabertooth.
No.1 should've been EVERYTHING ABOUT CYCLOPS
You Ain't Ordinary Bruh Morrison is kinda the reason Cyclops is like that
I hope people don't actually copy the reationships in Marvel, and DC, as they're always horrible relationships.
might be a jerk sometimes, but always a leader. Doesn't come accross as being in charge in the movies at all or someone people would want to follow.
What I hated was Day of Future Past was that Kitten Pride sent Wolverine back, those aren't her powers.
Kitty phases through dimensions. Time is the fourth dimension.
@@metalmurcielago But how would that explain her being able to send someone back or forward in time?
Russ Leonard kitty phases through dimensions. She can phase people through a wall. It’s the same concept only it’s through the 4th dimension which is time.
Wow! A watch Mojo video that got everything 100% correct, I’m impressed. Good job guys.
Actually the original Dark Phoenix in the comic books was also Jean Gray herself. That is what X-Men: Last Stand was based on. This was later retconned in the comics to the more well known and popular story of the Phoenix force.
Wolverines costume could've still worked if it was black, with a black mask.

If it were like his X-Force costume...black and grey.
Melanie Dawn Exactly, since they love black leather so much. At this point I'm just praying for Logan to wear either yellow or orange in a flashback in Logan.
Well the original concept for the costume was to make all characters have their iconic costume, but it didn't translate well, not even the iconic wolverine mask
i came here for the thumbnail
here's one, the characters are good in the comics, terribly portrayed in movies. aside from wolverine, magneto and Px
Fuck off!
Jacen Cage Cyclops for sure
Jacen Cage nightcrawler in apocalypse was pretty good
Memeo Supremeo I loved him but he was only in it for like ten minutes
Wolverine isn't like in the comics. In the comics he's a master tactician and martial artist that was trained as Samurai. In movies he is very weak-minded and doesn't know any martial arts. Not to mention, in the comics he was forced to become Weapon X, while in X-Men Origins he agreed to do the experiment.
Biggest difference: one has Chris Claremont one doesn't.
I like how magneto and mystique aren't always evil, I think it brings more depth to the characters
Rebecca Romijn's Mystique > Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique
Rogue was wimpy in the movie that ass was nice but that's about it. Didn't read the comics but in the cartoon she was strong and helpful
Vladimir crotchlickmeoff so true !! damn she was awesome in the 90's cartoon !
Really wanted that too.... Fox would have to use another character tho, I don't think they have the movie rights to Ms. Marvel.
she was badass and liked her powers in the comics and even in the cartoon, but in the movie they made her hate her powers cause of some guy she liked that she killed...
You should have a top 10 Huey freeman moments or boondocks moments 🖤
To be fair, Magneto has spent a lot of time being good. Still is to this day I think so it's not much different. Mystique's the unjustifiable one.
6:23 Logan lost his memory and Victor's brain has become an animal
like Ryan Reynolds once said: "These alternate timelines get so confusing "
is no one going to mention that Mystique doesn't run around naked in the comics.
Storm and cyclops having bigger roll in the comics
Rogue is supposed to have a southern accent and huge knockers, and fly.
In the movie, she didnt.
The X-men movies are so disappointing... it actually makes me really sad when I think about it :( I loved the comics growing up and even the cartoon show back in the 90's
I'll never forgive them for turning rouge into a whining crybaby mitch. Wolverine has zero fighting skills and gets his ass kicked. Cyclops is a waste
Jay Williams don't forget SJW Mystique. "You are X-MEN" "embrace what you are"
Rouge is make-up
Rogue is the name of a female x-men
thank you for saying that the only rouge character there is any where is a damn sonic character >.
lil toot they are referencing a dumb thing storm said to the movie series rogue who literally can kill someone with just a touch so ya >.>
No mention of how the Movies butchered Emma Frost,
Thomas Sokoloski straight up fumbled twice with the characters
The Magneto change I actually get as he has spent a lot of time straddling that line. He led the New Mutants in the eighties and has spent a lot of time as an X-Man in the last few years (albeit as a more anti-hero character). Also, I get the Wolverine/Sabertooth brothers story because, at the time that movie had been made, the comic Wolverine Origins had strongly implied that this might be true, but that was later disproven.
And, they could still not be brothers. It was implied, but there is no genetic test or whatevs.
ELbabotas Shinigami Yeah, well it was disproven when his half brother came back as the character Dog
It made a dark series actually seem dark
every time someone says "in the comics" I die a little inside.
Shadow Radish did a little what
"In the source material" sounds better to ya?
...no, it's like the tiniest little micro of a bit better
"in the graphic novels"? ^-^
"in the original"?
"in the better form"?
"in the media that makes the most sense"?
(Seriously. Even something as simple as make-up. 'Oh we can't feature Nightcrawler because his make-up is too complicated.' When they made Nightcrawler a super catholic with sin marks all over his skin that he etched himself for every sin he made.
Or how the Merc with the mouth ended up with no mouth? D: So much more....so much more)
#1 should have been "Everything about Cyclops". His character is so mishandled... although Apocalypse was a step in the right direction.
Magneto as a good guy is a good chance. Makes him deeper.
poor gambit :( it’s sad he needs more screen time and justice. he also needs his costume heheheheh
rouge though. anna can do the role, but the movie directors ruined it.
Thanks for talking about Rogue I’ve been wondering if anyone would ever address it.
I hope someone at fox pictures takes a look at this vid. Thumbs up on another great vid Watch mojo.
I dislike the way they made mystique in the movies first two X-Men movie she was great then that all changed when Jennifer Lawrence came in.
Another thing the movies leave out about Rogue is being Mystique's foster daughter!
very cool!
