Well it definitely uses battery. It requires electricity to light those pixels up. It's probably not a big deal over the course of 30 minutes but when your phone is in your pocket for like 6 hours per day, pretty huge waste . Do you just sit and stare at your dimmed wallpaper frequently? Haha. Very strange impractical feature. Static images are bad for screens and in general, screens and pixels also wear out. So trying to minimize unnecessary screen usage is smart. It could only result in screen burn in to happen sooner, and it doesn't seem worth getting a dim glimpse of wallpaper every now and then when checking the time...Once the phone gets a bit older and the battery starts to wear out, battery use will be more noticeable. Just from a device care perspective, it's a lot better to turn that feature off. Just sayin.

I actually love seeing my background in my AOD. I tend to change mine often and it’s visually pleasing. I haven’t noticed a decrease in battery at all
Well it definitely uses battery. Just sayin.
