Kohdok, just to clarify something, do you happen to recall Digimon Frontier by chance? That series was inspired by the Super Sentai series, hence the transformations into Digimon, the five man squad with the Sixth Ranger, etc. It has a lot of tropes from that series. Fusion/Xros Wars however, along with the samurai influences, has borrowed storyline tropes and ideas from series like Voltron, Gundam and etc. Combining mechs to make more powerful robots and things like that.
I do remember t, and I still think it's a pretty weak entry, especially once the combined forms that let only two people be part of the story anymore happened.
Actually frontiers has more of a kamen rider theme. Main heroes with multiple forms, and one or two heroes with a big final form. The armor adding on matches stuff like kabuto and deno
This is basically how beyblade went over the 'Metal Saga' Toys Metal fusion: A fresh toyline that was quite accurate to theJjapanese toy Metal Masters: A good sequel with interesting new beys and parts XTS: Hasbro's poor idea of making gimmicky tops that don't work very well. Metal Fury Oh God, what the heck did they do to the accuracy that the previous 2 series had and the destroyer dome was in a way a gigantic fish-bowl with no real competitive use whatsoever. It was the reason 4D Drives weren't produced at that stage since they wouldn't work with the wheels that came with the dome. Spark fX: Finally we see tops with the same parts as in the show but just a few. However the design of the tops was still very poor, eg. A yellow-red diablo nemesis that glows in the dark Beywheelz: As Kohdok says THEY DON'T WORK! Shogun Steel: Pretty good accuracy to both the Japanese and the show. A big improvement from Beywheelz Beywarriors: Are they action figures, beyblades or both? Beyraiderz: People who come in to a store to buy Beyblades expect beyblades not a messed-up one wheeled motorbike that is both expensive and not fit for purpose. Byeblade Legend: A cool idea but the community hasbro has left already have the beyblades and are only buying them again. Not only that but they left out the original beys that some people only have a few of. I myself have 550+ beyblades after two very heavy £1 buy one get one free offer at Toys R us in N.Ireland and thus need the 30 G-Revolution beys I am missing from my collection. Beys like Dranzer GT are near impossible to get mint and I paid £68 for Dragoon GT who is even harder to find. This was an opportunity to remake the original series that unfortunately hasbro didn't take. Thanks Kohdok and btw great video as always!
Hasbro's problem with the Beyblade is that they became lazy. at a certain point during the revival, they stopped including stickers with their beyblade releases, and because the revival ended in Japan with Zero G, they're too lazy to make their own original Beyblades, so they just continued on with these lame spin-offs
Random Guy111 does USA got a dub of Beyblade Zero G? and what about Beyblade Burst? gotta say, I hear more from japan that from USA ( that and the schedules are terrible....specially in Latin America, that was not the same as the original trilogy )
Chima had the problem that it was competing with a much better ninjago, and the large figures had to compete with hero factory. Themes that were already established and thriving. I was 11 years old when chima was released and I bought some of the toys, it was just inferior to Ninjago. The card game was confusing, the figures didn’t immerse well with everything else, and the tv show was corny compared to the well written Ninjago. It was doomed from the start.
I love that stuff you said about Mattel's sculpts. It counts for a lot. The stuff I loved was the original TMNT stuff from the 90s, they were filled with little details I enjoyed.
I am so glad you were able to make this full time. TCGs and the like are my thing and finding reviews for different and unknown collectible games and merchandise series is impossible. I’m a 33 year old with a family. I can really only focus on maybe one game. Which is Pokémon. So glad you were able to keep with it after all these years! Also, as a Pokémon player, thank you for being such a great representative of ALL these different communities. I love seeing the leftist shift in geek and nerd media.
Seems like Buddyfight has its own version of the strange Redakai Cube that came out. There are reports indicating it may come stateside but is it possible to get your opinion on this? buddyfight.wikia.com/wiki/Official_Buddyfight_Fighting_Stage
Which versions of the XROS wars toys are better depends on what you like. The Japanese toys are less articulated but more accurate and better engineered.
Yeah, good to see you back! Great review as always! Will you be getting Skylanders Trap Team? It has one of you wishes for giants, KAOS as a playable character!
Beyraiders could have worked. Instead of having them grab a load of cheap discs. Go nuts, have them break walls, towers, structures, targets, they are small cars, and hat is something small kids might do with a tiny car, SMASH THEM ON THE WALL. Seriously this would’ve also made for a better game
I actually have a ton of Beyblade Metal Fusion tops, and I played THOUSANDS of matches with my friends. Beyweelz and Beyraiders was a stupid clishe cashin
What if beywheelz and beyraiders and beywarriors were created to boost the sales of regular beyblades? So that they could make profit off of beyblades as they know these things would flop ridiculously.
That...doesn't make any sense. Why would anybody make a product with the intention of it being a flop, especially one with the investment of a TV show?
Kohdok I mean that's an excellent point. Honestly it'd be one of the dumbest marketing ploys ever if it were true. I also posted that "conspiracy theory" as somewhat of a joke lol. But yes, that would make no sense whatsoever to make a product with a tv show just to boost sales of another product. That's an extreme waste of money and highly and quite stupidly risky to attempt
The Fusion figures weren't as good as the Xros Wars figures. The Fusion figures are cheaply made, being hollow all over and stuff. Also, Japan got figures of Beelzemon, SkullKnightmon, Axemon, Cyberdramon, and Deckerdramon. I really wanna get a figure of DarkKnightmon, since it is pretty much the only villain figure in ALL of Digimon, seasons 1-5 included.
I've actually got an Infermon and MaloMyotismon figure lying around somewhere, speaking of villains. As for the Xros wars figures, weren't they more like combiner Transformers? Also, America has only gotten (and probably only will get) the first wave of toys. It's one of the reasons I'm begging for Beelzemon and Sparrowmon, as I can see where in the system they would go.
So... Max Steel is essentially a bad version of Kamen Rider?
More like a bad version of the idea of the partner ship Between Kamen rider Drive and his belt.
Jake Deerberg yeah, pretty much, I could've been cool to see max steel take on a Gaim or ryuki twist though and have multiple people with suits
Jake Deerberg no
max steel used to be a gi joe thing
I’m currently binging zero one on ep. 7
Bdaman Fireblast is planned to come out in the fall. Johnny young bosch is voicing kamon. Also its great to see you again

I'm pretty sure Beyblade ended it's run in America, also.
Random Guy111 does USA got a dub of Beyblade Zero G? and what about Beyblade Burst?
gotta say, I hear more from japan that from USA ( that and the schedules are terrible....specially in Latin America, that was not the same as the original trilogy )
Ever heard of beyblade burst
Geo Izumiya we got one and the voice of GAO from buddyfight is the main protagonist
Heh heh.... *spin*-offs...
In the show, max, is actually the outcast of the school and society, he really doesn't interact in everyday smartphones and social media

I don’t know why but I loved the English dub, and I still do.

Well also the Fireblast toys haven't really been in so many stores but the show is amazing so Ya you were right about that.
Hey Kohdok! :) Is Monsuno finished ??
i like fusion's dub
Which versions of the XROS wars toys are better depends on what you like. The Japanese toys are less articulated but more accurate and better engineered.
What are your thoughts on slugterra? I didn't really think it got off it's feet to begin with.
I have the same opinion as Max Steel pretty much.
They had terrible figures and was a remade version of nerf? seems like a solid reason
KOHDOK! YOU'RE BACK!!! YEA!
I heard Target has Beyraiderz on sale for $2 or under. I think zankye has a new hunting video about it to. But for $1.57

+Morgan Waugh "...and high-tech!" You're welcome for finishing that quote.
But Nexo Knights is better then Chima
And it could be the show that replaces ninjago
Chima sets were awesome beybade was awesome but Hasbro needed to up their game
Beyraiders could have worked. Instead of having them grab a load of cheap discs. Go nuts, have them break walls, towers, structures, targets, they are small cars, and hat is something small kids might do with a tiny car, SMASH THEM ON THE WALL. Seriously this would’ve also made for a better game
