    such a great video ! my question is why a doctor should use PET instead of SPECT ? Is it a matter of quality ?

    • @dr.paulinemoyaert
      @dr.paulinemoyaert  Год назад

      PET is mainly used for cancer diagnosis and staging. It's not only a matter of quality, the indications are often totally different.

      @@dr.paulinemoyaert Gij bedankt voor de goed uitleg, zonder deze filmpjes was nucleaire half onmogelijk. Ik ben als ambulancier begonnen aan geneeskunde en alhoewel er vele interessante specialisaties zijn zal het moeilijk zijn om het geel en groen aan de kant te leggen dus het zal waarschijnlijk urgentie worden voor mij. Maar als ik me bedenk zal ik u zeker opzoeken. :)

      @@dr.paulinemoyaert ik zit nu in de 3de bachelor en daar hebben we 1 studiepunt nucleaire gnk als deel van een ander vak. We zien dan de basisprincipes oncologie, inflammatie/infectie, dementie, parkinson, skelet en dan nog kort over hart, longen en (bij)schildklier. Het moeilijkste voor mij is vooral alle radioliganden uit elkaar houden. De focus ligt ook op indicaties en werkingsmechanismen, we moeten geen beelden kunnen interpreteren.

    But when is one of those used? I mean what is the main difference between those? Not just the physical basics

    • @dr.paulinemoyaert
      @dr.paulinemoyaert  2 года назад +2

      Simple answer: PET is mainly used to detect cancer. SPECT can be used to detect stress fractures, kidney problems, bone metastases (= bone scan), heart diseases, etc.
