"Gino Vannelli" is a musical discovery for me, I had not had a chance to listen to this artist, now his songs can be included in my personal playlist. Regarding the song, I was amazed by the sounds of the synthesizer, they flowed with each other, there were wonderful transitions and arrangements, the song is long, and I like such long journeys. Wonderful!

Thank you for listening to this masterpiece. To me he is the most single best singer songwriter even more slight adventurous style. Outside the box for sure. Eventually he got more into pop music these days he is all into his type of jazz. To me his best albums is from 1975 which is this album you listen to. And up to 1981. These album is his golden years. However, he has done good stuff before and after of course. My two favorite albums are the gist of Gemini and hopper pauper in Paradise. from 1976 and 1977. And when he did brother brother in 1978 he got more yacht rock for sure but still many elements of progressive minded ideas. Fantastic singing, fantastic, musicianship, inspiring, and creative. Thank you.

I've loved this song ever since I bought the album when it came out. I got to see Gino at the Colosseum in Jacksonville Fl back in ahhhhhhh, 78 or 79. It was one of the best sounding concerts I've ever been to. It helped that I had a gorgeous looking date for the show, lol. She loved it too. Daryl Stuermer was playing guitar with them at that show, and he just killed it. He's toured with all kinds of great acts, Genesis being one of them. The whole band was on it, and tight. His brother, Joe, on keys was just smoking it all night. Such great tones on his synths.

That song blew me away back in 75 when I bought it. I’m a prog guy and Gino has a lot of prog in him. The great Graham Lear was the drummer. A great album!!

One of my good friends girl friend introduced me to Gino Vannelli and this "Storm at Sunup" album. This one has a smooth jazzy night club feeling music and some other songs on the album are slow and romantic. This was not my first album I heard by Gino V. "Brother to Brother" was my intro to Gino and that album is the best he's ever done. It's just plain Fantastic. This song is the best song on the Storm at Sunup album for me. I was fortunate to see him with my friend and his girl friend in Tulsa Oklahoma. It was an awesome concert.

Please Justin, go back to the beginning and do the whole Storm at Sunup album, making sure you listen to the first two tracks in a row (the title track "Storm at Sunup" and "Love Me Now").😉

@@Owlstretchingtime78 Yes, somehow imagining myself listening to Gino Vanneli may seem contradictory, especially when I really discovered all his albums from the 70s in the mid-80s (which a fellow radio presenter lent me), even though I was listening to more post-punk and new wave at the time! I probably got hooked straight away, perhaps because I'd already heard some of his songs on the radio in the late 70s and I'd already liked them. My radio colleague was also taken aback when I told him that I'd recorded all his records on cassette (especially as I used to tease him about his taste in Yacht Rock🤣).

With no 'egret's', 'heron' the winding road. It 'stork' me, "Where Am I Going"? 'Craning' my neck to see where I am, I tripped on a pelican. And beheld the be-gull-ing sea, while listening blissfully, to the brothers Vannelli.😎✌&❤.

Hi Justin. Dave from London (aka The Smoke). Would I want to Dance In The Smoke to Gino? Maybe, back in my college days in the 70s, when this album was played a lot by a local radio DJ. Some great instrumentalists here, especially guitarist Jay Graydon, who's played with just about everyone (from Steely Dan to Barbara Streisand to Alice Cooper). And the last time I saw Santana live, I think Graham Lear was in the band.
P.S. My song ref Dance In The Smoke is by Argent, and I'm recalling their later jazz fusion phase in this music.

Gino can be a bit much even for a fan like me so I understand the negative comments. It was a weird time, synths meets the sexual revolution, prog meets discofied fusion, all in various stages of inebriation. Open shirts were a thing for both sexes… especially on the dance floor. Albums I listened to more were A Pauper In Paradise, The Gist Of The Gemini and Brother To Brother. I may have heard this album but forgot it.
Anyway, I cringed a bit, liked a bit. That’s Gino.

I'm probably wrong about this, but that might even have been better than Fairy Mary Mag! He managed to put a lot of song into that song. I've been more impressed by him (by quite a long way) than I'd expected to be.

I’ve heard this song a few times through the years, but never heard the term Yacht Prog. I suppose there’s room for another prog subtype - cuz this is certainly not the same as Ambrosia or Alan Parsons Project and what I think of as Pop Prog.

I think this is his strongest album once you get past the Harlequin romance novel album cover. Might I recommend the tracks Powerful People, Fly Into This Night, Or his first hit single People Gotta Move (if you're feeling funky).

Slightly better than the last GV track I heard, but that's barely saying much, now is it?
I would strongly support any petition put forward that claimed the world would be a better place without this kind of stuff. I mean, if it were to be wiped from the face of the earth overnight, would many people actually be that much worse off? Chest-wig manufacturers, perhaps, but other than them... ?

He's pretty consistent, I'll give him that. I found this an almost laughable, bitty, bombastic, cheese-fest. I'm done with this guy. As for where's he going... Well, who knows, but if it's miles from any recording studio, I'll be a very happy chap :)
