Im a Tigers fan but I LOVED watching Jason Smith playing for Canberra. He was such a throwback to the Winfield cup days, and I loved watching clubs struggle against his old school backline plays. He played it as he saw it which is something that really isnt done anymore. Its all wrestling and structured backline moves. There are some great athletes in the Comp these days but there are few traditional "Footy Players" left. Esp after Preston Campbell and Toddy Payten retired last year.
smithy is a footy legend! one of my favorites to play the game, up there with the best. one of the most underrated players in RL! i was spewin when he left parra to the uk in 01. how parra didn't win the comp in the late 90's i'll never know. i'm pretty sure in 01 when parra made the final smith was suspended in the semis, they had no chance without him & there wasn't much media about him not being there if i remember.

Always new he was a good player but lifted to another level at Canberra. He was fantastic was involved in almost everything 👍
