Yeah, that lyric seems to slip past most people while there in shock over opening the bedroom door. I heard this on the radio several times before seeing the video and still was blown away by the music even without seeing the visuals.
"Life is short but this time it was bigger than the strength he had to get up off his knees" I have never heard a better sentence to explain severe depression. This song packs a punch Nothing like Country Music to hit you in the feels
As a wife, of a now retired soldier, I can stand before God knowing I was and am still a faithful wife. 30 + yrs in and still going strong. Till death do us part!
He won a country music award and when he went up to accept he said that he never thought an "alcoholic double suicide song" would become such a big hit. I love this song. My favorite line in any country song is the opening to this ... "She put him out, like the burning end of a midnight cigarette".
Oh yeah, Brad paisley is one heck of a guitar player! He is one of the best! Keith Urban and Vince Gill are the other two that I can think of right off hand.
You'd have to do a just "Brad Paisley" song to get the guitar shredding...like American Saturday Night, Ticks, Remind Me (which is a duet with Carrie Underwood, but has the guitar chops in it). Start a Band with Keith Urban, they both shred all through that video. So yeah, y'all started with the saddest Brad Paisley song on the planet! LOL. But it's a gorgeous song and Allison Krauss is amazing.
MY NEIGHBOR IS IN THE MILITARY AND HE WAS DEPLOYED OVER-SEAS. His wife tried several times to get me while he was away. Not a chance. I refused to ever step foot inside her house and made it always clear I would never be with her and would never do that to her husband. When he returned home she was honest with him, that she wanted me, and he thanked me for not giving in to her. I'm not meaning to boast, but it was not even an option in my mind. It's just not done, period.
The one thing you can count on, is that we'll provide genuine reactions. We do this for fun, not for the views. If we hate it, we'll hate it. If we love it, we'll love it. If we find it funny when we're supposed to be dropping tears, well, we're gonna laugh. - Keith
Oh, dear. I love this song, but it’s not going to help my “not all country is depressing” argument. Lol. Can I suggest Alan Jackson - Chattahoochee as a counter-argument?
Hey Keith and Dustin, this is the first time that I’m listening to you guys. Actually, I just listened to Alyssa lies and Martina McBride. I love you guys reactions. Drinking a bourbon is probably not a bad thing when you’re listening to some of this country music! This song, I sing at karaoke a lot with my duet partner. It’s another song is gonna get to you guys!
Howdy, I am from West Virginia also..I just subscribed. I absolutely love ya'lls reaction..Brad is indeed awesome. My uncle passed away in the Sago coal mine accident and Brad took family members to dinner with just him and my family members.. It was a very intimate setting and so awesome of him to do.
Sago was horrible. Condolences on your loss. I had no idea Brad did that, but, I'm glad he did. It had to have helped the families in some way. - Keith
Black - Pearl Jam ha unplugged performance is fire 🔥 Check out Chris Stapleton in Austin live performance is I Was Wrong his voice and guitar playing is fire 🔥
the moral to the story is forgiveness, as a military wife, I was incensed at her but I also understand its not as easy as it seems ,and it goes both ways, thankfully my husband and I were ment for this life, but not all are.
So Ricky Shroeder from TV show Silver Spoons was the actor and director of the video .. Lori White is the actress who was also a country singer .. she has died in real life .. she was also the woman at the very end of the movie Cast Away whenTom Hanks needed directions and left the last package he didn’t open on her porch .. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood Remind Me .. him and Keith Urban song Start a Band and they both are amazing guitar players!
Ha! I just found your channel. I haven't heard this song in a looong time. And Before you passed I said, " Damn it Jody!" I didn't know you were military. 🤘😆🤘 💕🙏🇺🇸
Interesting they got the actor Ricky Schroeder in this. And the bus driver was the old man in Brooks & Dunn’s “Believe” video. And some cadence calls include “Jody’s got your girl and gone.”
Some of my favorite songs by Brad Paisley include Waiting on a Woman, Online, Celebrity, and I’m Gonna Miss Her…the last three are more light hearted. He met his wife making the video for I’m Gonna Miss Her…story goes that he saw her in Father of the Bride while on a date and got his agent to contact her bout making the video. He’s married to Kimberly Williams Paisley, who played the lead in the movie with Steve Martin. Andy Griffith is in the video for Waiting on a Woman.
Brad paisley is pretty great for some fun songs too...alcohol, online, I'm gonna miss her, I'm still a guy, and waitin on a woman. Remind me with Carrie Underwood is a beautiful song too
A broken heart can make a man go on a drunk. But having one woman you gave your heart to and with whom you see your entire life then Wham! It's dashed to pieces. That's what can drive a man to drink himself to death!
ive watched this before but came back to review the Bourbon reaction. My brother buys this a ton, has 4 still in the container and gave this to me to have at a new years party. I, having drank with him for a while, loved it and still sip it all the time. My buddies, being that we are 22 -24, thought it was terrible. More for me!!
This breaks my heart because I have a daughter 30 years old who just died a year ago drinking herself to death. God bless those with the problems of drugs and alcohol.
The actor who played the soldier is Rick Schroeder, child actor from Silver Spoons, directed the video. I wasn't a fan of the direction of the video but I did like the song. I believe the young girl at the end is Rick's daughter
The thing about Country songs is that happy ending part that many other genres do not expect. Because many country writers tend to believe, the message is about the family being together in the afterlife. Why do you think that Will the Circle be Unbroken is so popular and tends to be the closing number in so many concerts?
I always kind of preemptively cringe with reaction videos to songs like this... a lot of the comments are obvious and everyone has a right to their opinion, of course. But I think ppl forget, the specific storyline may be what this VIDEO is about...but the song itself, not so much. Only that a relationship ended, and both involved lost their lives to the heartbreak and self destruction. Above all, the song is about being hurt, and losing (who you felt) was the love of your life, about being too prideful to reconcile or too lost to even know where to start. This song breaks my heart because it reminds me that even "true love" is human and imperfect and can end.
I notice videos with stories throw you guys a little. Remember the song by itself could be interpreted differently. This is an amazing song, and Allison Krauss has an amazing voice, definitely an underrated voice. I suggest listening to one of her songs.
Dear John's according to my father we're not always better, my dad got one in Vietnam and the girl told him that she just wanted them to be platonic, and unfortunately my dad did not know what that word meant and had to wander around the camp trying to find someone to give him the definition of the word which she said was incredibly embarrassing and he wished he just walked home with her and found her Jody.
was the song you were looking for Black by Pearl Jam? Just started listening to you today and am now subscribed. If I had a suggestion it would be Josh Turner for deep voice, Bentley Gilbert for a little country with gasoline on top and Dolly Parton for real down home.
That was the song he was trying to think of, he remembered it right after the video as expected :) Any particular songs from the artists you suggested? Thanks for the sub! -Dustin

Guys if you love some Allison Krauss then her cover ,with Jerry Douglas,of Carolina in my mind by James Taylor is a must.So close to perfection it damn near brought a tear to my eye.was performed in some kind of tribute to James Taylor who himself was in the audience,It won't disappoint I promise
It's been a long time since listening to this song. When it came out I couldn't because my cousin took his own life after discovering his wife was fooling around with his best friend. So listening to this song I just would lose it.
You are so right. Don't be a Susie. Or a Jody. I've known both and in the end they will tell you it's not even worth it. Allison is pitch perfect and has such a haunting quality if the song calls for it. I recommend a Dolly Parton and Brad Paisley duet. It is When I Get to Where I'm Going. Also Brad Paisley Waiting on a Woman. You should react to Allison Krause and Union Station's song Jacob's Dream. Her voice has the perfect amount of haunting emotion in it for the story which is a true story.
I've added the Dolly and Brad song, as well as the Allison tune to our list. A request tally has been added to Waiting on a Woman. Keep those suggestions coming - Dustin
I dont have Burboun to send for a couple song suggestions cause I dont drink. But I recommend David Balls Riding With Private Malone and I Love the Tobey Keith song Whiskey For My Men and Beer For My Horses
Just on the musically side - though the story could take up alot- a real shame that's so common -would like to think there's enough descent people for it to be rare - but musically Brad's and Allison's voices blend really really well!
You need to listen to When you say nothing at all by Allison Krause, the song was originally done by Keith Whitley you should listen to both and see which one you prefer. Maybe listen to some Hank Williams Jr (Country boy can survive), if you want guitar playing Keith Urban and Brad paisley did a fun video of a song called Start a band.
We were stationed at Ft. Stewart when Desert Shield started. They cleared out the troops there and sent them over because they were desert trained. We lived in a really large trailer park that was mostly military families. We were always going to each other's homes for cookouts etc and were pretty tight knit group until the spouses were shipped out. A week after a neighbor's husband left, there were various men staying over. She wasn't the only one. When I saw what was going on, I stopped going to cookouts or even visiting/talking to them on phone etc. I packed up our then toddlers and moved back home to NC. I could not "play nice" with these people. I was disgusted and could not hide it. This happens far more than some people realize.
This is a year old so you'll prob never see this but it was insinuated that she never got any letters from him while he was gone. From his perspective, she was cheating but from her perspective, he was dead.
Brad Paisley has some great songs. When you were talking about stories of people getting wrecked over another, I thought of the song She Thinks His Name Was John by Reba McEntire. What isn’t said in the song that’s important to know, is that this song was written about AIDS. It’s my understanding that this song was banned from the radio because of this. It’s an older song, and I’d hope we’ve come a long way since then. So, if you haven’t heard it, I recommend it. There’s not a music video, just a vid of Reba singing it live.
Brad is definitely very talented and is known for his guitar skills. If you just want to see his guitar skills, you could check out his version of Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top. Or also his song She's Her Own Woman has some good guitar. (Not one of his top hits, but really good guitar solo if you watch a live version London 2010. I'd watch a live version so you can see him play the guitar. But, Brad is also really known for his humor with his songs. Songs like Celebrity, Online, Ticks, I'm Gonna Miss Her... are all pretty funny. I think his most touching song is "He didn't Have to Be" That song is a tear jerker. Also "Letter to Me" is a good one for reminders about what is important.
We'll add those to our list. And we're definitely coming back to Brad. We'll count on you guys to tell us which of his tunes have the hot axe grinding.

Brad and Keith are great guitar players. I love Keith's song Stupid Boy
I've added Stupid Boy to our list.
This is a year old so you'll prob never see this but it was insinuated that she never got any letters from him while he was gone. From his perspective, she was cheating but from her perspective, he was dead.
haha I knew you were gonna mention Jody
lol, how could I not? - Keith

I've added it to the list, thanks!
We'll add that to our list. We're almost certain to return to Reba at some point.
