As someone lazy, I really appreciate that here in Glorious 2024, features like Auto-Z are pretty much a standard. When the V3 SE came out for sub-200 USD and had auto-z it kind of signalled to me that this was to be a standard feature going forward, if Creality put auto-z on a sub-200 printer, there isn't any possible excuse not to have it on something more expensive. Creality has really upped their game quite a bit with the V3-series and its forced the competition to keep up -- the new "Sovgrow" T300 being a good example.
Honestly it is really reassuming that creality can offer this product at the price. If creality does it, then all of the other manufacturers will be forced to follow in suite!
i want to get into 3d printing but which should be the one i purchase. I will probably only end up purchasing one ever but still want a good quality entry level printer. I just watched your video on the mingda magician x2 but now saw this. Unsure of what a good 200-350 printer would be. If you can steer me towards one that would be great! Looking forward to getting into 3d printing!
I would not get the mingda now because it is a little older and you can get more upgraded tech at the same price. I genuinely think the Ender 3 V3 SE/KE are both VERY good printers. I havent personally tested the SE but it's essentially the same as the KE just marlin based, so I am confident it is great. Personally if you'll only ever get 1 printer, I would get the KE because there is more room to grow into it due to Klipper. If you use the link in my description I will get a tiny commission at no additional cost to you :3 Good luck!!! You'll enjoy whichever one you get!!!
@@ThePrintHouse i clicked the link on amazon and saw that the ender v3 is on sale for only $170. Wondering if its worth it over the v3 ke for $300. Not even sure what a marlin base is. Just always thought 3d printing was cool and want to give it a shot. Is the v3 ke really that much better then the v3?
@@marz11004 Oh that is a significant price difference. Is it the V3 or the V3 SE? Creality is nuts with their naming scheme. The V3 is BRAND new, but the V3 SE and KE have been out for a few months. If you see the V3 (nothing else) for $170 I would order that one instead of the V3 KE. Sorry for the confusion, I really wish Creality would stop with the ridiculous naming scheme.
I actually do think it is a better deal, primarily because the CR 10-SE has the built in ADXL. BTW you can use the link in my description of this video for the CR-10 SE as well ;) :3
@@gary37b the adxl is the electronic component that allows the printer to perform resonance compensation. That will allow your parts to look MUCH better when printed at high speed :)
I think content providers should mentioned several things I didn't realize before I bought my printer. 3D printing isn't for everyone. They need to be placed in a well ventilated room, preferably one that isn't normally occupied. The process produces off gasses that can make some people nauseous and give them headaches are eye irritation. Some off gasses are toxic. They nees to be supervised, either in person or electronically. You need a way to catch a spaghetti disaster or thermal runaway. I recommend putting a smoke detector adove the printer and having a fire extinguisher in the room or just outside the door of the room the printer is in at a minimum. Please don't think I'm trying to discourage anyone for getting a 3D printer. I just don't want someone to get it to discover they don't have the time to use it safely and get discouraged and give up on printing.
These are good things to consider. Printers have become so cheap now though that most people can get into the hobby and if they dont like it, there isnt much sunk costs :D
@@ThePrintHouse And this is why I'd recommend buying a cheaper printer if your not sure you have the time or skills to supervise the printer. I knew 3D printing would be slow, but it takes three to four times long than I originally expected.
Hold on now, 3d printing did not require a bachelor degree worth of knowledge 5 or 6 years ago. I just bought an 8 year old printer and was up and printing within an hour. It hasn't been that difficult since you had to assemble kits completely from scratch. Everyone hates bed leveling and bed adhesion issues, but it just takes patience to get past those issues.
I mean yeah I agree to a point. It just took someone with a strong desire to print. Even the ender 3 v2 came fully disassembled, belts and all. Then to level the bed, do z offsetting, etc. was tricky. From the perspective of someone not typically interested in STEM it would not have been a brainless task.
I still think they need some supervision, either in person or via automation. I have a smoke detector above my printer and rarely print when someone is not in the house.
@@joshbracken5450 I want to setup a smoke detector power kill system before I print if someone is not in the house. Planning a 30 hour print when the house isn't going to be unoccupied can be challenging.
@The3DPrintingGrandad it can. Longest prints I have done so far have been around 8 to 9 hours so isn't too bad. But I don't know what to do if myself or my partner are not in the house. Maybe a metal enclosure with the automatic fire suppression system attached to the ceiling of the enclosure could be a good idea with a power kill system. Maybe even install those thermo fuses that blow at certain temps.
@@joshbracken5450 Thermal fuse are another thing I hope to setup. Either internal or external. I have set up OctoPrint so I can control and watch my printer remotely.
I definitely recommend supervision on all things that produce heat, but I will say that the thermal protection now versus 5 or 6 years ago is way better. There are little to no instances of printers causing fires now. I am honestly more concerned about my natural gas stove being mistakenly left on and my cat knocking the towel into the flame. But I do see where you're coming from and I always try to air in the side of caution myself
To make it even more confusing. they are coming out with the Ender 3 v3 without the SE or KE on the end. Personally I find that the Ender 3 v3 SE is cheaper then the KE and just as good. They are calling it a Core XZ machine. Which makes it confusing for new people that see that CoreXY is better then sling bed printers.
Yes so unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to play with the SE variant or just the Standalone v3. it is kind of weird that they called it the V3 when it's a completely different kinematic system. And that's a fair assessment that the SE is cheaper and just as good as the ke, although I am a Klipper fan. I think it's a fantastic wonderful firmware so if I can get a printer with Klipper I'm going to do it
Is it that much in EU!??! That is a lot. I think there are better options for the price, but I do still think compared to a few years ago $330 is a great deal.
@@ThePrintHouse I have no idea why we pay so much for the stuff, that both EU and USA have to import from China, where USA has much better prices. Even though Ender overall is the best priced 3D printer here anyway. It's cheap and easy to upgrade so you get relatively good printer for it's price.
@@LanGista02 I wonder if it is because of VAT?? Here in USA we pay sales tax so the $250 printer (depending on state) is actually about $275. That is still less than your $330 but it closes the gap a little bit
