Wow ! Mr Steel flying my tracks. Thank you sir ! Love your style of flying & you played a big part in getting me into this hobby. Hope you have tried all my new tracks cause i have some very unique tracks that i have put a lot of heart and soul into making for the Velocidrone community. Have a great day sir !
dude i am so thankful for this series, when i first started looking into getting into this hobby the first video that came up was a guy being very monotone and kind of shitty about getting into this, never mentioned a sim, blurted out the number $1300 within the first few minutes as if that would be the cheapest starting point, and just came across as gatekeeper ish. I appreciate this a lot because you show you don't need a professional drone immediately just to get a feel for the hobby
(I'm new to FPV, only 1 hour on my quad). You rock Mr Steele, previously I did 50 hours in a sim and my controller felt like jello. No control, quad floated all over the place. Using your rates on the sim just works, can't wait to set this up on my quad and fly it.
Man you are a legend... I've been flying from a few years and gone through a lot of videos but no one every explained it the way you do. Really appreciate your effort and time. I hope in near future I get a chance to fly with you...
I followed your rates, and holy moly, its x99999999 better than the default ESC settings my second hand drone had... I will be using this and fine tuning it further, thanks again!

This video was so helpful in helping me dive into rates. Now after about 6 weeks I have finally gotten comfortable with adjusting rates to meet different flying needs - freestyle vs. flying indoors etc. I was finally able to do flips and rolls with greater confidence and skill. Thank you!
I got into fpv when I saw the video of you flying line of sight. Then I picked my guitar back up when I saw a video of you covering Muse. Your videos inspire a lot of people and not only in this one hobby. I too love cars, 07 saturn sky with a ls3 swap. 86 olds cutlass with 632 ci nitrous big block. 2000 grandprix gtx with tons of mods. Keep being a total badass!!!!!!
Thank you so much I was trying to fly my drone and crashed multiple times and trying to tune it. Out of all the videos I’ve watched yours has help me the most.
19:30 More invaluable info that most people would never consider having an effect on their tricks success. Muscle Memory is a powerful skill in Many sports and other things in life, Makes perfect sense that it would come into play here once you think about it.
these are the type of tutorials that set your channel apart i have purchased from your company Ethix and am a very happy customer i wish you could post a 3 to 5 minute video on the camera and lens selection that you use in this video it is spot on keep up the great work
Very helpful! I’ve been needing some education on this subject. Thank you brother! Keeping the video on just rates made this a lot easier to understand.
It should be noted that rates aren't the same between betaflight, kiss and flight one. Velocidrone is using betaflight rates so if you fly a different platform on your real quad, you need to convert your rates.
I always see a lot of people saying this, and maybe in certain extremes it makes a difference, but from YEARS of PERSONAL experience flying BetaFlight and KISS, I notice NO difference between using Rates in the 2, and when entering the number IDENTICALLY into BetaFlight and KISS, I get exactly the same DPS. YMMV of course. I do KNOW for a fact that yes, there is a "translation" difference, where there are some faster areas, i.e., mid stick to first 1/4 of the stick movement, but depending on rates used, the difference can be bigger or not as noticeable. For me, using 1168 dps for pitch and aileron, and 1000 for YAW, I don't see any difference from my KISS quads to BetaFlight. All my muscle memory results in the exact same maneuvers every time.
Wow, I threw your rates on my quad (1st build) and holy shit I have a new quad that rocks now! It is a night and day difference from what it was. Thank you so much. This along with following your new gimbal vid and finally making those adjustments to my stock Q7 has made this hobby immensely more fun.
Steel, Thank you for doing everything you do for our hobby. Your a great ambassador for how to do things the right way. I got into flying quads using your previous series as a guide and it's severed me well to this day. I'm excited to see what the rest of this version has in store. A full on tuning section would be amazing.
Love the explanation! Feel like I understand so much more after watching this channel. Excited to move out of cinema style drones to something a little more exciting
Mr Steele always about the learning, deep diving into my first little build of an iflight dc3 and the stuff you’re refreshing will help me no end. Much appreciated
Absolutely learned something, (I know that's not YOUR slogan 8-) ), and thanks for giving so much of your time to the community. I'm following your beginner series videos. Just awesome. This lessens my fear of messing with rates.
lol i think you are confused. rates...are the maximum degree of acceleration the quad will take depending on your input. when MR steele was referring to the 666 degrees, what this meant was at full throttle, if the rate is set to 666 for roll, and you do a full throttle roll, the quad will try to match 666 degrees per second. And you can adjust these degrees per second setting for throttle, pitch, roll, and yaw. The "video game" as you called it, is a simulator, meaning its a program meant to simulate quad flying. Thus your explanation of rates are similar to settings in a video game is insanely incorrect and just a confused thought in general. The simulator attempts to mimic the same program that we use to configure the quad (betaflight), and thus to simulate the quad degree per second control on the videogame, its obvious its similar, thats the goal. but to say that as a short description for rates...its similar to a video game says absolutely nothing.
Great video. I am new to FPV and flying my 3 inch or 2.5 inch quad was not as smooth as I thought. This will definitely help me understand what to adjust to have more control and better performance. Also I like the way you explain it using the simulation.
Like the new series very informative. Normally fly around 1000 degrees but with dialing up the super rate not the RC rate and with no expo so more in touch with the quad, but having fun with your dialed up RC rates ( all indoor at the moment). Would really like to see you do a throttle control video and how to set up for best control ( non Kiss just regular Bestflight).
thanks, Steele just getting back into it after Canada killed off racing drones with our BS laws. I now have to stay under 250gram weight or get a 3000$ fine so looking to buy some stuff in the next couple of months ( after selling all my drone gear 2 years ago cause I couldn't fly them legally anymore in Canada ) Canada has basically tried to kill off drones period watched a guy get fined for flying a phantom without the proper license. so its indoors and micro 2' outside hopefully staying under 250grams. Thanks for all you have done for drones and the community Steele
Yo Steele, these videos you have been doing are really useful. I'm glad you have decided to make these. I'm looking forward to seeing more. Keep up the good work brotha.
Super awesome to hear that people are having success with my older videos I’m excited to put out this newer set up so that you can learn a little bit more especially with the changing times. I’ve also obviously learned a lot in the last couple years of how I can teach this stuff so it makes life a little easier and makes it better when I make videos about the situation

This is actually a very good point and I probably will get to that in more of an advanced video but for right now I’m his people are going to be OK with it set up the way it is from the factory. Setting up your radio to your specific liking is a very important thing but not everybody wants to open up a radio right when they get it and start tweaking on stuff
@@MrSteeleFPV Totally agree, I don't think anyone should open a radio on the first go! hahaha...I only mention it because I would like to see your perspective on doing it. (BTW you look so much happier these days bud! WTG!!)

Thanks for posting. As you said in the first vid of this series,it's a bit of an update. Most of the tutorials have good info,bu they are a couple of years old.
16:35 there no One way, because everyone is different and everyone is going to perceive and feel different about how its effecting the control of your quad/drone. This will change per person, and per drone. You may have some settings with one drone you swear you love and that are the end all beat all. Then you try them on a smaller/larger drone or one with different hardware, and then it feels Off or even uncontrollable. Having an understanding of what you are doing with the controls by adjusting these is invaluable info to new pilots.
Thanks for this amazing info. My eachine Novice 4 is easier to do acro than my flywoo nano baby and I couldn't figure out why till now. The Nano is really twitchy and sensitive so I will adjust the rates.
Your original how to FPV vids were what set me up right! Would love to see this series go from this to extremely advanced (i.e. that sharp motion when you change directions. it looks robotic and beautiful 😍)
Like I say in the video tuning the quad physically by getting a weight set up correctly and making sure your rates are set up with a way that you want them is going to ultimately make the quad a lot easier to tune when it comes to PIDs and I think a lot of people overlook this very important thing. But with that being said I am going to talk about the ideas and make a video specifically about tuning a quad
@@MrSteeleFPV I was thinking more about getting rid of some oscillations that are caused by PID-Values that are slightly off after physically tuning the quad.

Love the videos man . Im currently waiting for my gear in shipping. Going digital for my first fpv experience and a smaller 3 inch quad . But ive been messing with my rates in my sim to try to see what I like. I think I finally found something I like but my degrees are way lower than yours.. more like 500 I think lol but I like the feel of it and I've got it so my end stick is real snappy and the middle is smoother.
Great video! Thank you! But why wouldn't you want to change the rates in the TX? Is't it easier - for example - beeing out in the field and doing some little tweaks here and there by just dailing them into the radio? Thanks Steele.
Dude, great video and explained so well! I followed your Build video and my quad came out amazing!!! Thanks!! Are you flying in New England anytime soon?
Great vid as always. Having run steele quads and running a variant of your pids/rates with great success, but id love to learn more on how you tune the pids... tuned in for a next episode.
5inch really is the magic sweet spot for high performance ripping to cinematic flying. But I cannot leave well enough alone. I love building and experimenting nearly as much as I do flying. Trying to get 3inch long range cruisers versus a 3inch ripper. Lately it has been building really big stuff from 10inch to 13inch Xclass. I finally hit on a 10in that rips on LiPo and hits endurance on LithiumIon. What my next fixation will be after that I am not sure.
This is something that’s actually very difficult to convey because everyone’s flying style is going to be different but I actually have a bunch of videos on this channel and I can make newer ones specifically addressing certain Fpv freestyle maneuvers like rolls flips Rubiks cubes and others others
Oh there was a part 1 and 2? Damn dude! With your explanation and rates... ive been practicing in LiftOff, and some thing never felt right, like i couldn't do things. With the new rates I put in, where roll and pitch are sooo much faster for "my timing", it just felt more natural on how a full roll/pitch should feel. It's like i went from amateur to "advanced amateur" if thats a thing lol. I'm hitting turns and gates sooo much faster and easier and i can keep the quad a lot longer, straighter very low over the ground! Also my starts are a lot easier. So in short, before it was a lot more jumpier and slow in turns, now its "slow and steady" and quick when I want it to be. Perhaps still need some tweaking as the game has BetaFlight numbers, im "guessing" what yours are about, as the numbers are a but different. But the curve looks alike.
Your videos are just mindblowing! I practice with a TBS Vendetta in Velocidrone and have a new DJI FPV drone. Which rates do I have to setup in the DJI drone to get a similar feeling like in the sim?

Just to clarify, rates are similar to "Sensitivity" settings in video games. Settings on its own is a very broad term.

You're awesome Steele I didn't understand Expo until now you're the man I want to start buying some kids from you I want to build lots of drones
I meant to say kits
Thx a lot ! I'm waiting for PID's video ! ;)
Thank you.. just getting into fpv.. I was wondering how I should do this. Got the sim and jumper t16. But so confusing and overwhelming. Lol
Great video! Thank you! But why wouldn't you want to change the rates in the TX? Is't it easier - for example - beeing out in the field and doing some little tweaks here and there by just dailing them into the radio? Thanks Steele.
Braaahhh miss you man. Loving the beard
Afternoon Mr.S - from the UK
Dude, great video and explained so well! I followed your Build video and my quad came out amazing!!! Thanks!! Are you flying in New England anytime soon?
@19:06 Excellent advice and well said
Thank you so much for this man, helps so much. You explained it all very well
Great vid as always.
What about a video on how to complete Freestyle tricks?
Like most people we aspire to fly like you thanks for the tips
Love this little series :) ❤
