A band that shows that anything is possible, nomatter where you come from, young boys with a big dream, that some day they would perform at Oslo Spectrum. Growing up in one of the isolated Lofoten Islands in Norway, they mainly originate from a place called Sortland. So isolated, that if you were to make it in anything, you had to move across the country to get properly educated,or in this case....get closer to record labels, concert venues etc. I was working in a local radio station when these guys started out,we all were cheering them on,had them for interviews etc. A bunch of guys you would get along with instantly, polite, humble, positive and very likeable in general. This performance is from theyr dream coming through really, they sold out Oslo Spectrum wich is a common indicator for Norwegian artists and bands that: "We made it!" The Spectrum is the biggest and most prestige concert venue in Norway. Then the tragic happened sadly, the always happy on the outside, songwriting and guitar playing genius Robert Buraas on the lead guitar, passed due to suicide and it devastated the entire band. They felt like they couldnt move on without him, that they couldnt do the band justice without his songwriting and guitar playing skills. But after alot of years, they are now back as a band, and now even other countries has requested them to come playing,so theyr dream has been extended. They deserve everything that is coming theyr way, also without Robert (they carry him with them in memory and spirit) Madrugada is known for theyr "melancholic" sound,so they have alot of slower songs, but here is one where Robert joins them from the start and its abit more "lively" then Majesty: Madrugada - The Kids Are On High Street. This one might lift your spirits abit more,a wonderful collaboration: Madrugada (Duet with Ane Brun) - Lift me More recent Madrugada, filming videos from where they come from: Madrugada - The World Could Be Falling Down (Official Music Video)
Great reaction! 😊👍This is my favourit song from them. About 15-16 ish years ago I was at a bar with a friend, and Sivert (the lead singer) was there with a friend as well. After a while he waved us over to their table. When the bar closed, Sivert and his friend joined me and my friend for a coulpe of drinks at my friends apartment. She lived close to the bar. She had a guitar, and he started playing. I asked if he would play Majesty for us, and he did! 😊 It's a memory I will remember for ever. Just the four of us, the most intimate concert I've had the pleasure of seeing.😁
The last part of the song have something Pink -floydis drive that I really like. I have been listening to you couple for while now, and you are the real deal for me, when it comes to listening to my favorite group...Madrugada!
Woah, Madrugada! They're from my hometown, they're quite te hometown heroes. They showed us kids what's possible to achieve even when you live in a small town way up north in Norway. Got to see Madruaga seven or eight times, and Sivert solo a few times. Can suggest watching his concert from Athens, Greece.
I swear you two are the only ones reaction to my favourite bands. It's crazy, whenever I search for something thinking "no one will have reacted to this" the odds are you two have a reaction on it, if not always the song I was looking for, you at least have the band :) You're great.
They are pretty big in Greece. The amount of times they've come, even Sivert for a solo gig, is like they are locals! Their music was featured in a couple of greek crime drama series so that added up to their reputation. Personally not a big fan, but I love some songs a lot! When Editors came out on 2005 and heard Tom Smith's voice I felt like it reminded me a bit of Sivert Hoyem's voice!
Sivert Høyems voice is great. There's a deep melancholy there in the landscape between folk rock and country. My favourite song by Madrugada is "The kids are on high street." Høyem also sang a song supporting the UNCHR, that's quite moving. It's called "Prisoner of the road." Another song that's quite a bit more upbeat is the duet between Høyem and Ane Brun: "Lift me."
Everything about that was really good. There were so many contrasts in this. You listen to one thing and something else draws you in 💞💞💞🔥🎶🎵🔥 Can always rely on beautiful music from your channel, guys. You did not let me down
The song is from 2002 but the live footage is from 2005. Guitarist Robert Burås died suddenly and unexpectedly on July 12, 2007, the band had been in New York and made some recordings already in May 2007 and released the album in January 2008, "Madrugada" is the only Madrugada album where Robert Burås sings (Our Time Won't Live That Long). The band went on a farewell tour in 2008 with Cato Salsa and Alex Kloster-Jensen as guitarists. In 2018, original drummer Jon Lauvland Pettersen took the initiative to reunite the band to mark the 20th anniversary for the debut album "Industrial Silence" with Cato Salsa and Christer Knutsen as associated members, during the anniversary tour the band realized that they had missed each other and chose to continue and went to a studio in New York in February 2020 to record a new album. Last week they released the first single "Nobody Loves You Like I Do". Check out Robert Burås' band "My Midnight Creeps (2003-2007) which released two albums and Sivert Høyem's solo stuff
Madrugada & My Midnight Creeps with several guests paid tribute to Robert Burås with a concert in August 2007 where they performed four songs. Unfortunately, the whole concert is not on RUclips, it is on Facebook somewhere but the songs were as follow "Don't Let'em Bring You Down" "Running Out of Time" "The Kids Are on High Street" "I'll Let the Light Shine on You" ruclips.net/video/dvjwVF74euY/видео.html
The guitarist you liked, has passed since this concert. And so, the band had disbanded, years ago. But I'd really recommend their first album, one of the best albums I can recall.
What? Who is the woman dressed like that. Do they not know class when they see it. All in fun! Mikes a lucky man. IMHO Ginger is a real classy lady. Great song gave me a Tommy Bolin feel. His song Teaser is really good. 😎
LOve to see you reacting to Madrugada! I love his voice. Several recommend his solo 'Prisoner of the road', I prefer the video over the live Nobel concert for the voice, though the images are... heartbreaking, and sadly as actual today, as in 2005. ruclips.net/video/c-0jy3iCB8U/видео.html . And may I say Ginger, you look stunning there.
@@MikeandGinger You will love their duet too! I found at least 9 versions here on YT, the official video is best, in my ears: ruclips.net/video/rv74W6pKfL4/видео.html .
I might be first to ask, but it would be cool if you reacted to BigBang, a Norwegian band that was pretty popular back in the days. If you don’t react to them maybe others get music inspo ;) They are in the Rock/Indie/Country genre ? Im not sure which genre to place them, might be easiest with rock. (Theres also a k-pop band with the same name, but not them. ) Heres a few of their tunes that are great :) BigBang - Something special ruclips.net/video/vc09C6T4CGM/видео.html BigBang - Saturn Freeway ruclips.net/video/alVXjrcPjmI/видео.html Big Bang - Wild Birds BigBang - Girl in Oslo
I generally prefer studio recordings. huge fan of Sivert's voice and performance, although, that live 'jazzy' impro with the minor impurities is somewhat offsetting. Madrugada is top quality nonetheless.
That guitarist looks like an alchemist who knows he have cooked up one extraordinary potion of a riff, he looks like an absolute boss owning the stage

Very cool!
Their album, Industrial Silence, is amazing. One of the best albums to ever come from a Norwegian band.
Fav o' mine.
Industrial Silence is not one of the best albums from Norwegian band, but one of the best albums in rock music in general for the past 25 years
SALT!
Totally agree👍
And the Norwegian band Midnight Choir also has many good albums and songs which one should check out😃

Robert Burås, the lead-guitarist in Madrugada is a really guitar-legend in Norway 🖤🇧🇻
I can see why - G
Ooh, that’s awesome, excited to hear your reaction to this fabulous song💜
