One of the best movies of my childhood. I don't understand why it's hated on.
The comedy is pretty bad. The story is nonsensical and acting isn't all that great or even good. Despite that, it has it's charm. It is the very definition of an 80s movie.
@MrAlcazar I'd say the effects are real great, tho. Especially the Dark overlord.
And me. It was a great film for kids. As an adult though can see how ridiculous it is

@@MrAlcazar I love Howard the duck and the duo are working together as a Team to rescue the girl from the Dark Overload! It's one of my favorite movies of my childhood!
I loved this movie growing up and for some dumb reason I'm always stomping down metal stairs slowly like Jennings did.
The way he powers up is still awesome.

For a movie from 1986 the special effects are actually better than I remember them as a kid!!....Oh and Lea Thompson is as sexy as I remember!!!...

I remember watching Howard the duck growing up and as a child watching this the dark overlord never scared me which am glad sometimes it probably scares children but it never scared me because I enjoyed this movie so much and great battle between Howard and the dark overlord!

Ed Rooney, Caroline in the City/Lorraine McFly, Andy Dufrene and a 🦆. What's not to like?
Well, I think we all could've done without the naked duck/playduck shots at the beginning, and the bed flirty stuff between Bev and Howard. Those scenes don't contribute anything to the film overall. They can be removed and it wouldn't really affect the movie. About the only thing they add is a weird/creepy factor to an already bizarre story. But aside from those issues I liked the movie... 80's humor and all.
@@brokenrhyme Agreed. The feathered, "airbrushed" ( O ) ( O ) weirded me out then in '86 and now in '22. But, I must admit Lea looked damn fine in the underwear. Disney+ and MCU would never let that happen with CGI Howard (Seth Green might try on "Robot Chicken"). Huyck & Lucas did their best with Steve Gerber's material. 🤷♂️
@@energicko They did not do justice to Steve Gerber's material at all. When Gerber was story editing the G.I. Joe cartoon, even there he came up with better one-liners for the action scenes than the limp-ducked ones here.
If this was made today the dark overlord would have just been an evil duck.
