Dafoe 's Neptune monologue has to be one of the best scenes in cinema.
Everyone laughed at first... then it just kept going and going... by the end, the audience in my theatre didn't know whether to laugh or be terrified, which just shows the brilliant madness of the film.
"Let Neptune strike ye ded Winslow! Haaaaark!!!" I was blown away by how Dafoe can memorize that whole monologue. Someone who loves their craft. Great film.

I love how Willem Dafoe is the strangest, most terrifying person on screen and then every time I see an interview with him I'm reminded that he must be the coolest dude to hang out with. Clearly a very kind soul.

No question that Rob and Willem should both be nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. INCREDIBLE performances from both! Robert Eggers should also get an Oscar nod for Best Director.

Guys,we know Joaquin Phoenix in Joker is like...the only great performance the internet praise and because of that we heard "He is the only one who can win the oscar" ,but can we give a moment to appreciate Willem Dafoe ? Guy has been in the industry for 35 years or moree,and the guy has given his blood,guts and soul to every role. Dafoe is a legend.

I still don't understand why A24 didn't campaign The Lighthouse more, even if the movie is to weird for the award voters there's no reason why Robert and Willem aren't nominated for every acting award, both gave by far the best performances of the year, and the cinematography, production design, editing and score are phenomenal
Independents don't win unless it has viral viewership. A24 stays snubbed.

I find Pattinson's comments on Dafoe with rehearsal deeply relevant. To him, he had no idea. Dafoe was totally comfortable. That's exactly the characters, one is experienced and just doing his thing, the other is trying to find his way and is totally lost by the end.
Alex Cohen is quite an effective interviewer. Her questions were succinct yet open-ended, provocative, and well constructed. This film is a classic. Eggers is brilliant young director. Pattinson gave a career defining performance, but Willem Dafoe stole the show, had his cake, and ate it too. The cinematography by Jarin Blaschke was next-level. Outstanding job done by the entire cast and crew.
Willem Dafoe is such a pleasant person, I feel like you could talk to him all day about movies and art and people.

I just saw 'the Lighthouse' last night and I was enthralled. Dafoe and Pattinson BOTH deserve Academy Award nominations for best actor and best supporting actor. Amazing performances by both men, mesmerizing...
You could pass this off as a simple retelling of the story of Prometheus, but it is so much more. There are so many different angles you could view this movie from. I even have my own unique theory... that Thomas was an older version of Thomas (Winslow).
You need to see this movie if you haven't. It was amazing, a must see...
Wow that really blew my mind - the fact that Thomas is the younger version of Thomas! I mean all signs point to that.....
Interesting theory but I doubt it since Eggers said in this video that the original story he was inspired by had two lighthouse keepers named Thomas. That’s more likely the reason for the names.

The audible Willem gave when he was being buried alive was one of the greatest scenes I have witnessed in a long time. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolute amazing movie. The monologue of Dafoe cursing Pattinson was mesmerizing.
Willem Dafoe is such a class act. It's nice to see someone so talented with a passion for excellent filmmaking. Robert Pattinson as well! They were the perfect dynamic for this movie & it still remains one of my top favorites of all time.

So much talent. Willem has always been a great actor, and still today he is underrated which is really frustrating. He should have won the Oscar, no doubt about that.
Robert Eggers is a great talent too, so young and full of amazing ideas and creativity. He is a legend in the making.
And Rob Pattinson...This guy just had his Renaissance in a few movies. He is blowing my mind. I would have never thought he was such a good actor and he seems to be a genuinely good guy.
I know the lighthouse is getting somewhat the recognition it deserves but in my opinion not enough. I reckon in about 30 years time, this film will become one of them classics that everyone will know of

Dafoe deserves best actor and best supporting role
By FAR the best horror film of the decade. Uneasy laughter giving way to dead silence and people walking out of the theater I was in scratched every cinematic itch that I have. Still processing this film...
Always loved Wilem Dafoe and this is definitely some of his best work.
I was really impressed with the scene where Willem Dafoe gets buried alive. All that mud and dirt in his mouth. Took it like a champ

Big shout out for Dafoe, that man is fricking golden Oscar actor but screw the academy everyone already knows what he is worth.
Also great job from Pattinson's side, it's not easy doing a two man's acting job on a remote lighthouse while it storming like a bloody typhoon out there.
Overall great movie, amazing macabre and Lovecraftian atmosphere, sound effects and especially these two wild cards acting thier hearts out like it's the end of days.

Willem Dafoe is one of the best villians in film history.
I must admitt that Willem used to scare me as a kid through his Green Goblin's character, but now I find him one of the most charismatic actors. So, for the love of Neptune, give Willem Dafoe his desired Oscar, which he's waited for a long time. He deserves it as much as Robert Pattison, I wish they both could get back to work together again.

Dafoe saying that being buried alive was the most challenging really rings truth. You can see how hard it was for me especially when he got sand and dirt inside his mouth while doing his line.

I'm not an actor, I have no need to memorise lines at all, but I did it because now I have the perfect way to express annoyance with my brother. What's that? This Academy didn’t deserve this movie. This should have cleaned up. One nomination. Inexcusable. The score should have been nominated, both score, costume, etc. This is far and away the best movie I saw all year. It’s the only film that didn’t feel like a rehash that I saw all year.
