ShadowLeggy's stuff was some of the funniest RE stuff I had ever seen! I found her, through Kai! Also, I was able to witness incredible TikToc RE stuff, I never knew even existed!
I'd spend hours rewatching Shadowleggy in like 2008-2010. I was probably one of the few people in middle school that thoroughly enjoyed Resident Evil. Funny how now a lot of people who I hear play Resident evil have only really touched the remakes along with 7 and 8. This unearthed some ancient memories, thanks for the nostalgia!
"You felt like you were the only one who liked Resident Evil" - 1000% agree with that statement...I so confused why there were so many RE games because I thought I was the only one buying them lol
us 30 somethings are a blessed lot, too old to be young but to young to be old. weve seen all the cool shit happen in the fandom and the net. makes me wonder how folks who were 20 plus in 1996-2000 feel out RE now. as always good stuff Kai!
Resi fan from Africa here. I played the shit out of resi on PS1 n PS2 in 90s w my big bro. 80s, 90s games irreplaceable like many 80s,90s stuff. Games nowadays basically rely on graphics Soo crazy u cant tell it's a game. Back in days games relied on creativity n using really simple graphics to capture ur mind, wildest imaginations n fantasies. Big difference
20 somethings re fan here. Not much different really. I grew up in a poor neighborhood so most people were using stuff from the y2k era as late as 2009. I remember my friends brought a physical copy of re4 on ps2 and talked about it like it just came out...in 2009
Yeah, same here as far as being an isolated fan of RE since 96. I wasn't online much in the 2000's but myspace really helped me connect to other RE fans in a big way back in the day.
It's crazy how many time flies until right now the communty of resident evil fanbase has grown. I remember in early 2000 not many people talking about this series Along with Dino Crisis. And yeah I remember too there also a resident evil parody flash game on the internet back then named "Resident Wiifle".
Omg I remember getting in trouble in school for browsing RE Fan's caption contest and stifling my laughs in the school computer lab. I also submitted some captions myself and I think a couple of them got pretty high on the rankings.
You're actually rocking a pretty early 2000's look in this vid 😂 Between the spikey hair and the long sleeve shirt under a short sleeve shirt I feel like I'm back in 2003 watching this 😍 great video as usual
As someone who wrote Ada x Leon fanfictions for writing assignments back in the late 2000s I can't stop smiling, this video brought back so many memories.
Yup, I feel you 100%. Made a Resident Evil Outbreak fanfiction for a middle school assignment, just a bunch of original characters during the J's Bar incident. Resident Evil was such a big part of my childhood.
ShadowLeggy and Yeti112 are my favorites. I hated that Numa Numa song back than but Leggy's parody changed my mind. And Yeti112's works have incredible voice talents.
I still watch shadowleggy's holiday special montage every Christmas Eve as a sort of personal tradition. Here's to more years of being an RE fan! (as we slowly march towards death lol)
I love the RE: Numa Numa videos so much, I've talked with with its creator ShadowLeggy (or DoubleLeggy as she's called on deviant art) a lot and even commissioned images from her a handful of times, shes a great person and is always passionate about the direction RE goes in :3 *update* I sent Leggy a message to let her know about this video, she hasn't posted on DA for a year but I still wanted to let her know people do care about what she made :3
Wow this really takes me back! I used to spend hours and hours going through all the different fan sites, forums, and DeviantArt trying to find all the Resident Evil content I could. It's sad that so many of them are dead and long gone now. I loved looking at all the different fan art and fanfiction. There were also some great parody videos on early RUclips and Newgrounds (including Leggy as you pointed out), some of which are now also long gone and lost to time. Those were definitely different times. I kind of miss that experience. I don't get to spend as much time in the fandom as I once did but new social media just isn't the same. You're also right about feeling alone as a fan back then. I never once met another Resident Evil fan in school that I could talk to. It's amazing how much has changed...and now I feel old! This was a nice trip down memory lane. It makes me want to dig up my own old fan art. :)
What a coincidence. I remembered about REFan this week and gave it a visit. I was sad that the caption this site was broken. So happy when I saw this video pop up. Good times lol.
I remembered watching Shadowleggy so much when I was in middle school through high school from 2006-2012. Not a lot of people talked about Resident Evil back then and I didn't know a whole lot of people that are fans of the franchise. Other people would look at me weird when I was in middle school and high school not knowing what Resident Evil was so I was thankful that there was fan made content back then.
Oh my god you spoke from my heart 🤣 Leggy, Practical Al, Resident Evil STARS... the endless tributes... they made my teenage years!!! Nostalgia pure!!!
I kinda miss having to go to different sites for fandom stuff. I remember spending saturdays mornings surfing on web searching for resident evil stuff on the family computer. It really felt like "surfing the web"
The Shadow Leggy videos has been the sauce of my life motivation back than. It's just like you said Kay... I felt conected. I tried to show those videos to my friends. Back in the day, they didn't understood the jokes and I was like... "Yeah, me and my dad are the only 2 Resident Evil Fans on earth" This video gave me a hard throwback.
God, ShadowLeggy unlocked a core memory in my brain that I almost completely forgot about! I used to LOVE her Resident Evil Survivor series. Thank you for reintroducing this to me.
I love Shadowleggy too and I miss her videos. She also had some gags that somehow made it to the main series. Like when Billy restored Rebecca's hand..then years later Ethan Winters hand gets reattached twice. Or that airport girl from degeneration who has the same clothes as shadowleggy
Shadowleggy was one of the first people I subbed to on RUclips. Oh the nostalgia...Yeti112 was cool too, and darkmavid90. And I think Ben...something? I forget the name, but he did some good animations too. God, to try and find all these again...one day.
*Damn, seeing this once again makes me feel old! This was a time when we didn't have fast internet, RUclips back then. All we had was Resident Evil Fan: A New Blood site for the latest news, Newgrounds, Gaming Consoles to rely on.*
I was 13 years old when I saw all these videos and the content of residentevilfan. It's amazing seeing people back at that time from different countries, having fun with the same content as you. Great job Ink Ribbon for bringing back these memories and let us know that we were not the only ones who watched this content!
I definitely got nostalgic. I often used to browse sites, like Resident Evil Fan, ReHorror, Evil Unleashed, BioHaze, etc. back in early 2000's. I also used to watch plenty of RE Flash animations back in the day as well.
Before I found your channel recently I felt very alone as a resi freak. My friends would stare at me in awe when I shared my research findings of timelines of events in resi universe. My relationship w evi goes back to me n my big bro playing resi together on PS1 (he no longer w us) n him saying 'they'll never appreciate this game like we do mo'.
Those Newgrounds animations were AMAZING back in the day. There also a flash game where you'd snipe random people and Chris would repeat the phrase "ooohh, that was great."
I was definitely a ShadowLeggy fan then and still to this day. Shadowleggy back in the early days was definitely the bread and butter of RE content on RUclips and watching her progress to now is amazing. Honeslty Kai, I hope you plan to reach out to her and have a full on hour interview with them. I'm sure she'll give us insight of what it was like back in the old days of YT and being part of the RE community then. Can't say much about other websites back then. I was a user on DeviantArt and Photobucket (if anyone remembers that one), the RE community back then was small but definitely felt great to be apart of back then.
Thanks for this stroll down memory lane even though it is missing my first foray into Resident Evil fandom: fanfiction! I spent so much time in those early days searching and reading cheesy fanfiction and still remember a couple of stories.
I can't stop smiling throughout the whole video :') yes, Kai. It does feel validated as a fan back then when we see other people like Resident Evil as much as we do because there isn't a lot of RE fans. Not like today. RE wasn't mainstream back then. I frequently rewatch Shadowleggy's videos and I think she even replied to some of my comments on her videos. I'm glad she likes the RE2 remake after expressing her hate towards RE5. Also, I do want to mention there's a funny video dubbing over RE4 cutscenes where Leon is basically complaining all the time and all the zombies love the song Barbie Girl by Aqua and their grunts are always "Aqua". Go check that out. I hope it's still out there.
Was 12 when RE2 dropped and I was hooked! I also had no friends that were as into it as me. I remember going on residentevilfan and a newblood websites so I can get early screenshots and read all the files, timelines etc. Ah what a time
Kai: It's like the Canada of social media websites revolving around images! Me, a Canadian: Aw, shucks, how kind! ETA: omg I totally used to watch Joseph Blanchette's other parodies (namely the Final Fantasy and LOTR ones), and the Ark and Kerrigan videos!
When I was a kid back then I remember going to cyber cafes because I didn't have a pc at home, just so I could see as much as I could of Resident Evil stuff specially the remake, I didn´t have money to buy the game so I ejoyed looking at pics or any website possible, and oh my god the buffering / quicktime videos on the sites to watch small clips of the cutscenes or gameplay.
CanadianPride8 also made some funny parodies, notably the "run forest, run" one, I remember wheezing from laughter watching that, shadowleggy too back in the day *sighs in old person*
This made me so very happy, I spent days at school trawling all of these and weekends in an internet cafe watching shadowleggy and josephblanchette. Also that Claire scaring Steve caption sent me into hysterics 😂
Shadowleggy was one of those people I used to love but I kinda forgot about them over time, it's nice being reminded about them again! I remember one of the first resident evil vids I came across was a caramelldansen compilation back when that was popular, there's something weirdly nice going back to see it again after so long
TBF I have no idea because RE was still so big, yet I guess it was so scattered around the world. Finally glad we have a platform to show appreciation and engage with the other fans.
6:50 I remember my oldest brother showing me that clip when I was a kid. I was only like maybe 6 or 7 years old and was just getting into Resident Evil and he showed me that. I don't remember what I thought of it back then, but watching that clip again after all these years is so nostalgic. I also remember watching a lot of Resident Evil music videos over the years and there are so many that are good. One of my favorites of all time is the one done by KFN94 where that person had Carry On Wayward Son playing and he started it off with the Road So Far title from Supernatural. So much fun watching those music videos. As a Resident Evil fan, I would love it if someone made a Resident Evil tribute music video set to that song because to me at least, that just somehow fits.
Not a millenial, i'm gen z, and i had the same experience growing up on the early days of the internet. i was a young kid then, but i got into a lot of more "niche" (at the time, they were niche) games because of my older siblings and cousins. i also was very active on the internet because of their influence too. The only way i could fangirl over these games was online, as being a kid in the rural area in the 2000's, none of my friends were really into the series that i liked as much as i did. I used to play a lot of flash games, i adored the fan art-- basically i would go wild for anything i could get my hands on online. man, fan sites, newgrounds, and deviantart were seriously a godsend. this video was amazing! i think about the early internet days a lot, and this video was a really good look into exactly what internet and fan culture was about in those days. thanks for the nostalgia!
Oh yeah we lived the same memories and vibe kai This hits home so hard😢 Yeti, shadow leggy, Bently Bros parodies, alfred shut up and sleep with me song , deviant art, and i remember spending hours searching RE fan arts to save as my laptop wallpaper❤ i still watch all these OG resident evil works till day and you have no idea how much it effect my day,
I used to watch Shadowleggy so much back in the day, her work inspired me to get into self taught animation. I was also into Capcom Friends, and Days of Our Lives (a RE4 parody, which concluded in 2021 after running for 15 years). There was even another RE4 parody featuring HUNK, by a creator known as AdamWestSlapDog. Sadly due to RUclips copyright laws, many of these videos have been lost to the sands of time. I even had conversations with some of these creators through youtube before, back when you could physically message people through their inbox or channel page, which is no longer a thing. It was way easier back then to communicate with your favorite RUclipsrs.
I used to print out resident evil images from the internet and paste them to my junior high school agenda! I was obsessed with it back in the day ! Glad to know someone who is all about posting videos on it! Now let’s work on a movie script together !
I remembered those days. I spent hours looking for any Resident Evil content. I do remember a few of those sites and that windows music player skin lol..I'm pretty sure I downloaded. I think then I also thought I was one of the few people out there searching for this stuff. Thanks Kai for the nostalgic trip.
Man I remember the ol forum days. Umbrella Network, REFan, etc. Then the new grounds animations started taking off. ShadowLeggy was our communities big jump start. Everyone who Followed her was always chomping at the bit excited to see her next release. I’d love to find some of the old members from Umbrella Network.. Oh the memories!
Shadowleggy videos were my childhood. I’d watch, rewatch and rewatch them over and over again, and at some point I even attempted at making videos like her’s on MS Paint and Movie Maker. I really wanted to share her videos with more people but nobody at school liked Resident Evil, in fact I was made fun of for liking it
I was going to say - where was Yeti112? Shadowleggy was also great! Loved the “Ada… Ada Wong 8D…. Did [she] really just use her real name?!” Or the Nemesis loves Jill videos hahaha such great content. I was one of those who would watch these RUclips videos. Or the RE4 System of a Down videos. I even made an Outbreak “music video” hahaha
Yes! Thank you so, so much for doing this! There were stuff in here that just were unlocked in my memory. As for my favorite videos, Yeti's and Leggy's videos were the best for me back then; apart from them, I remember the Jill Sandwich song/ytp (the one where Scatman John appears and a scene of Goku getting CBT at the end), and I also remember that one video with static images with RE1 dialogs being distorted and repeated over and over in a funny way (the one where there's a clip of Richard's "ouch" slowed down with a photo of a soccer player). All of this was when I was still in Elementary! And, as a native Spanish speaker, I'm so proud to say that the RE fandom made me better at English at a young age! Thank you so much y'all for being so awesome, wholesome, and the best community overall!
In the early days I actually would roleplay on MySpace with other re fans. Until RUclips popped up. Shadowleggy was one of the few I remember from the early days. Funny how you showed the Numa song with her. Totally remember that
I might of been too young for that. But I remember watching the resident evil 5 parody and resident evil days of our lives. ( which just had its final episode last year! After a 7 year break!!!) Those are the videos I remember for sure and miss. I wish they still made videos like that
Most of my time in middle school was spent watching Shadowleggy's videos. I also remember watching The Bentley Bros who had a couple of Resident Evil related skits.
I live in Poland. During these years, the Resident Evil series was popular with us. Lots of people played. When RE2 came out, I was in elementary school. Even then, half of the people in my class were playing RE2 on Playstation 1. It was the same with Dino Crisis
Ah Shadow Leggy,Yeti 112,and Days of our Lives Resident evil by Wars productions were my go to Resident evil humor content during these times. Had plenty of RE wallpapers and soundboards for my phone.
Yeti112 is also hilarious. That Wesker voice that they managed to pull off is legendary.
Ikr? Kinda sad that no one's talking about him
Wesker's mom, too
ShadowLeggy and Yeti112 parodies really takes me back.💫
Yeah, I remember Yeti112! He was hilarious AF! 🤣🤣🤣
I'm Nicholai! And I hate you! Classic.
Oh man shadowleggy’s animations were my childhood ❤
It’s honestly eerie to hear them talked about again.
ShadowLeggy's stuff was some of the funniest RE stuff I had ever seen! I found her, through Kai! Also, I was able to witness incredible TikToc RE stuff, I never knew even existed!
Same, I mean I was already an adult when this came out because... I did turn 30 eventually 😢
Still I hope she's doing well these days
Do anyone know the reason why shsdowleggy stop posting for awhile
I'd spend hours rewatching Shadowleggy in like 2008-2010. I was probably one of the few people in middle school that thoroughly enjoyed Resident Evil. Funny how now a lot of people who I hear play Resident evil have only really touched the remakes along with 7 and 8. This unearthed some ancient memories, thanks for the nostalgia!
same with ppl in my country, the resident evil stuff they only know are the remakes, 7, and 8
"You felt like you were the only one who liked Resident Evil" - 1000% agree with that statement...I so confused why there were so many RE games because I thought I was the only one buying them lol
us 30 somethings are a blessed lot, too old to be young but to young to be old. weve seen all the cool shit happen in the fandom and the net. makes me wonder how folks who were 20 plus in 1996-2000 feel out RE now. as always good stuff Kai!
I miss gaming in the late 90s, early 2000s, when gamers were just happy to meet fellow gamers and didn't screech at each other over trivial nonsense
It's crazy how many time flies until right now the communty of resident evil fanbase has grown. I remember in early 2000 not many people talking about this series Along with Dino Crisis. And yeah I remember too there also a resident evil parody flash game on the internet back then named "Resident Wiifle".
I remember the early 2000’s, everything was low res, And you could only see the world through fixed camera angles.
Those were the days.
Omg I remember getting in trouble in school for browsing RE Fan's caption contest and stifling my laughs in the school computer lab. I also submitted some captions myself and I think a couple of them got pretty high on the rankings.
I always remembered the Bentley Bros 40 minute RE4 skit. Shit was impressive for like... 16 years ago.
You're actually rocking a pretty early 2000's look in this vid 😂 Between the spikey hair and the long sleeve shirt under a short sleeve shirt I feel like I'm back in 2003 watching this 😍 great video as usual
Man, a trip down memory lane. I thought I was the only one that remembered these gems.
As someone who wrote Ada x Leon fanfictions for writing assignments back in the late 2000s I can't stop smiling, this video brought back so many memories.

Shadow leggy was the one to get me in resident evil in early 2000s i thank her for that
I constantly miss this Era of resident evil Fandom. I'm so happy other people remember this stuff
OMG... I remember going to a ciber caffe to watch S. Leggy videos and RE pages like residentevilsh... Thanks for bring back this memories Kay
I remember reading a web comic of Resident Evil around 2008. They used the story of the RE 1996, but it has the art style of 16 bit MegaMan games.
I love the RE: Numa Numa videos so much, I've talked with with its creator ShadowLeggy (or DoubleLeggy as she's called on deviant art) a lot and even commissioned images from her a handful of times, shes a great person and is always passionate about the direction RE goes in :3 *update* I sent Leggy a message to let her know about this video, she hasn't posted on DA for a year but I still wanted to let her know people do care about what she made :3
I must admit the Leon restraining order bit/joke, gave me a good chucke!
So many blasts from the past. Love this tribute. Resident Evil Fan was my go-to site back in the day, spent an insane number of hours in their forum.
Wow this really takes me back! I used to spend hours and hours going through all the different fan sites, forums, and DeviantArt trying to find all the Resident Evil content I could. It's sad that so many of them are dead and long gone now. I loved looking at all the different fan art and fanfiction. Damn i remember all this, im 37 and now i feel old but in a good way
Your not old ❤️
Ahhh the Shadowleggy musicals!! My whole childhood
ShadowLeggy and Yeti112 were the reason what got me fully in love with Resident Evil
Ooff.. that early 2000s look... The only thing missing to complete the look are those pants with the thick cuffs, many pockets and straps everywhere
Anyone else remember the Residential Evil files? That was the first time I saw a comedy fan film where I noticed how good some of those cosplays were.
Shadowleggy was one of the first people I subbed to on RUclips. Oh the nostalgia...Yeti112 was cool too, and darkmavid90. And I think Ben...something? I forget the name, but he did some good animations too. God, to try and find all these again...one day.
Oh man I still remember reading fanfics when I was younger...good times.
Dang shadowleggy, Blanchette and yeti I feel ancient. There was something else I enjoyed too Resident Evil Days of our lives and raccoon city stories.
*Damn, seeing this once again makes me feel old! This was a time when we didn't have fast internet, RUclips back then. All we had was Resident Evil Fan: A New Blood site for the latest news, Newgrounds, Gaming Consoles to rely on.*

Oh man, brings back some old Newgrounds nostalgia there. I loved Joseph Blanchette's (LegengaryFrog) work
Before I found your channel recently I felt very alone as a resi freak. My friends would stare at me in awe when I shared my research findings of timelines of events in resi universe.
My relationship w evi goes back to me n my big bro playing resi together on PS1 (he no longer w us) n him saying 'they'll never appreciate this game like we do mo'.
The T-shirt over Long sleeves outfit is the icing on the cake.
Those Newgrounds animations were AMAZING back in the day. There also a flash game where you'd snipe random people and Chris would repeat the phrase "ooohh, that was great."
I was definitely a ShadowLeggy fan then and still to this day. Shadowleggy is a legend
SHADOW LEGGY!!!!!!!!!
Shadowleggy made my childhood!! I loved Resident Evil so much as a kid, and Leggy made me love it even more! Still a fan to this day.
This is such an awesome video, thank you so much for doing it Kai! So many memories, such simpler times.
Thanks for this stroll down memory lane even though it is missing my first foray into Resident Evil fandom: fanfiction! I spent so much time in those early days searching and reading cheesy fanfiction and still remember a couple of stories.

Resident Evil Days of our lives!!
Jazz Master Sadler!
"People have been attacking me verbally, physically and emotionally!!!"-Leon
ngl, shadowleggy and yeti(forgot the numbers) were my introduction to Resident Evil fandom.
resident evil parodies are used to be my favorite thing.
What a great topic you chose for this video
thank you ink ribbon felt so connected
My god, I was JUST thinking about ShadowLeggy yesterday, then this comes out. I'm so happy to see other people talking about her work still.
Was 12 when RE2 dropped and I was hooked! I also had no friends that were as into it as me. I remember going on residentevilfan and a newblood websites so I can get early screenshots and read all the files, timelines etc. Ah what a time
You should do a Let's Play of that CV parody. I'd watch it.

Ah, I remember talking to Shadowleggy back in the day. She was so incredibly sweet. Her work was paramount.
I hope to see a return of Shadowleggy! She was awesome and have ADDICTING content 😊😊
This made me so very happy, I spent days at school trawling all of these and weekends in an internet cafe watching shadowleggy and josephblanchette. Also that Claire scaring Steve caption sent me into hysterics 😂
Oh my God I remember Resident Evil Fan. I remember spending hours laughing at the caption section. I miss those days.

2:12 You got a bee on a you hat.
TBF I have no idea because RE was still so big, yet I guess it was so scattered around the world. Finally glad we have a platform to show appreciation and engage with the other fans.
The Resident Evil Parody, Yeti112 and the Numa Numa are all masterpieces. Even the Lego videos about RE are amazing!
I remember I was so proud of my Caption This! captions back in the day. Thanks for the walk down memory lane Kai!
ShadowLeggy's videos are absolutely iconic.
Kai got that early 2000s video showcase shows (?) with that hip host in front of the 3/4 body greenscreen
Oh yeah we lived the same memories and vibe kai This hits home so hard😢
Yeti, shadow leggy, Bently Bros parodies, alfred shut up and sleep with me song , deviant art, and i remember spending hours searching RE fan arts to save as my laptop wallpaper❤
i still watch all these OG resident evil works till day and you have no idea how much it effect my day,
Man, this takes me back to the good old days.
I watched so many Shadowleggy video! I remember waiting months for each of her survivor videos to come out.
The fact that the DeviantArt posts get more lewd the further he scrolls 💀
I used to print out resident evil images from the internet and paste them to my junior high school agenda! I was obsessed with it back in the day ! Glad to know someone who is all about posting videos on it! Now let’s work on a movie script together !
Thank you, I absolutely love that you shed some light on early 2000's era of Resident Evil fanbase
Leggy is a legend. Used to watch her videos all the time when I was kid. Now I'm in my 20's and I still watch her videos every now and then
I remembered those days.
Everyone who
Followed her was always chomping at the bit excited to see her next release.
I’d love to find some of the old members from Umbrella Network..
Oh the memories!
I am Resident Evil fan since 1998. Just here to drop a like on this video. Cheers!
Did [she] really just use her real name?!”
Or the Nemesis loves Jill videos hahaha such great content.
I use to bingewatch EVERY SINGLE shadowleggy's videos when I was a kid.
thank you for taking me back to these times ! ;)
I remember that 😂 the way he says Rebecca chambers super fast and she barely moves 😂
35. Gotta keep that outlook sunny and don't let it dull your sparkle. Legendary Frog, ResidentEvilfan, and Bioflames were my jam in middle/highschool.
I live in Poland. During these years, the Resident Evil series was popular with us. Lots of people played. When RE2 came out, I was in elementary school. Even then, half of the people in my class were playing RE2 on Playstation 1. It was the same with Dino Crisis
Never rushed to watch a video this fast in my life. Shadowleggy’s videos were my childhood!
This video activated memories from so long ago man, I remember watching some stuff like this on new grounds back in the day at a friend's house
Watching these very old flashes really brings me back. I remember I go to NewGrounds and play those Flash Games and watching flash animation.
Omg ❤️ Yeti112 and ShadowLeggy made the first RE parodies I've ever saw.
Ah Shadow Leggy,Yeti 112,and Days of our Lives Resident evil by Wars productions were my go to Resident evil humor content during these times. Had plenty of RE wallpapers and soundboards for my phone.
