I've bought every helo (including Hind in pre-order) every map, and it the fixed wing modules, so I feel I've earned the right to express my desires. AH-1W and a MH-60M/MH-60S release would be sick. They've already got my money for the Kiowa and Apache.
The Hind will certainly be interesting based on the multitude of roles that it can take on. Having an attack helicopter that can transport a full section of infantry, or that can transport four casualties at a time is a capability that will be unique on the battlefield.
tbh I was really happy with RAZBAM's Harrier. Purchased it in early access, it lacked a few features but was still an incredible addition. Fast forwarding to today the module is absolutely fantastic.
Love mi8, ka50, and huey... i’ll buy the Hind and the Apache... but what I really would love to fly in DCS is the CH-53... Maybe I’m getting old... but I want my cup of coffe and just enjoy the flight and transport.
ED needs to fix the ground game in general for these helos to thrive. Right now it's a joke, BMPs, T-55s, even the guy with the AK has laser accurate ground fire. Splash damage is non-existent. Enemy infantry laugh at the GAU-8 strafing runs. So while i'm excited for all of these helos, ED needs to step-up their sim game, or they will all be lame ducks on arrival.
Man it's going to be a cool year. Really nice that these are all quite distinct in character; closest of course between Bo-105 and OH-58, but there's going to be quite a notable slant of "civilian application" (search and rescue, airshow use) as well as European Cold War on the Bo, while the Kiowa is your definite "black ops" modern special helicopter - very very cool IMO. For me, the most exciting and versatile among them is actually the Hind - I'm already designing little missions for it in my head that none other than a platoon-carrying 180kt-going gunship with >5000lb sling carrying capacity could possibly deal with; but I can certainly see why people will flock to the AH-64D :)
I will be getting the Hind and Apache for sure at some point. May pick up the Bo or Kiowa, but will be waiting on release reviews. I can absolutely Guarantee that the Hind and Apache will be incomplete at release, just as the F18 and F16. Sucks, but that is the business model that the community has supported. If Bo or Kiowa are feature complete on release, I will grab one of those instead of waiting though.
I wish they would update the Ka-50 to the Ka-52 Alligator. For two reasons. One it is obviously a much more advanced and capable helicopter. And 2, then we would have alligators and crocodiles in DCS. Then we would have a true apache competitor. As it stands there is almost no direct competition between any helicopters in DCS. Gazelle has no equal. Shark has no equal, but Gazelle is close though one is made of armor the other is tissue paper. The Huey has no competitor, but maybe the gazelle is closer to that instead of the Shark. Hip has no competitor.
With respect to the Bo105- Miltech5 was created by a (or two) devs from Polychop who left- and now Razbam is heading up the development. From what I hear from people involved with assisting rotor-wing devs. In regards to the OH-58D- Polychop has included actual 58D pilots to assist with the development, and have vowed to do it justice with their representation in DCS. I think this has the capability of being the best rotor-wing module in DCS... when it's released of course.
Ahhh can't remember, back in the 90's they had the Hind D which was pretty good back then. Jane's came out with some really good stuff for back then too. The F15E was in depth for the time. You could use the radar to scan ahead and create a picture of your target area and pick your target. NV in the HUD for low level night flying, low level radar, it was awesome!
The engagement video at 13:44 was from my aircraft in 2008 in the Baghdad, Iraq area. Truck occupants were an enemy mortar crew that would attack U.S. forces and then flee. Hit the truck with 1xHellfire missile, and followed up with 2xFlechette rockets, and 20 rounds of 30mm. Never had any further issues from these guys lol.
the Gazelle flies like the toy in ARMA 3 little bird.. its like you rotate the helo on its self not the place its hanging the rotors.. just does not seems like its correct to me, but I have not flown one just and little Robinson 22.. so I can only go on that experience..
The BO-105 is vaporware. Miltech-5 is just one guy who's a great modeller but has no development skills. This is why you can find stuff as far back as 2013. He approached a couple of other developers last year to try and get the project moving, eventually Razbam agreed to help. Unfortunately the guy's split his time between this project and the Eurofighter and Razbam has other modules to work on. I wouldn't expect to see this in DCS this year, or even next.
I'm curious to see how well the developers capture the dynamics of crew coordination between the two crew stations in the AH-64, and how they'll map out the interface for using the sights (PHS/GHS, TADS, FCR) and weapons, especially for the front seat. There's loads of functions on the hand grips for the Co-Pilot/Gunner, which won't be easy to tie over to a keyboard or controller interface. It'll be quite a challenging mod to develop, let alone fly effectively as a crew.
just remember, it was nearly 8 months of development after the F-18 went live that you could release a guided air-to-ground munition... i sincerely hope the apache doesn't follow in the footsteps of the F-18 and f-16 in terms of development after public EA begins.
It will be exactly like the F/A-18C and the F-16. There is no reason to think otherwise unless they have suddenly hired loads of people which they haven't. So it's going to take a very long time to complete. In fact it will probably be the longest project they have ever taken on. I really don't mind. I like learning these things in small steps. That's exactly what I did with the Hornet.
Used to fly DCS with a real Gazelle instructor. He wrote several times to polychop to tell them how wrong the flight model is and offered his help but they disregarded him and never tried to improve the flight model based on real pilot inputs, so I won't bother buying the Kiowa.
there is a possible saving grace, they said they are completely reworking the flight envelope coding, to feel more realistic, then they said they would export it and fine tune it for the gazelle. so maybe that will help

I'm pretty excited about the Apache but I'm really disappointed that the Comanche is not in development mostly because I don't have the time to work on it myself XD... Also I know that there is and interesting helicopter and development in the real world that uses sit forward thrust to generate high top speeds for a helicopter and I forget the model but I'll have to look it up as I would really like to see that in a simulator as well. That said with the Hind and the Red Bull acrobatic chopper in the lineup it's all looking pretty good. With all that said and despite the fact that I've worked on hundreds of f-18 and f14s and s3s and every other airframe in the US Navy particularly excited about helicopter operations as that's kind of the direction my life took or is taking after getting out of the military a long while ago... Anyway thank you for the content and Fair winds and following seas to you.
DCS Helicopters are all fun. I'm hyped over the Hind and Apache...but the Gazzelle is better than the DCS fan base suggest. Its twitchy and requires a bit of time to learn to fly. But Tweak the flight settings buy turning the actions of the aircraft down and enable trim Get this right and you'll be flying it, like a pro, in no time. Performing turns, full loops and barrel roles while firing the chain gun at targets...its a lot of fun.
Razbam has to focus on f15E and mig23 then maybe on the BO105, this year we will receive mi24 that alone will be a huge success but also many will buy only that one because it is ferly complicated to master and learn how it works
your last words "these wing-less birds", don't have normal type wing lay-out, but each rotor are aero-foils (wings), thanks for the video, I love the helicopter, a big fan, HA ! , the
That's why hell's are called rotary winged aircraft. They have wings, like sophisticated Maple keys, and not bird-style wings. Some flying vehicles are simply high lift bodies. You can make a brick fly with enough power. Power generation is the key, not the type of wing.😊
I'm really hyped for Kiowa, Apache and Hind. I doubt we will be able to fly Apache this year. TBH I really love Kiowa and the announcement it's gonna be in DCS made me happy. But I'm a little concerned about the flight model. Gazelle is fine and all, but the flight transitions feel very rough and sudden. I'm not a pilot, just my opinion. Comparing it to Belsimtek flight models is night and day. But I still believe it's gonna be great. I fly helicopters for the characteristics of the helicopter flight itself. I don't care what weapons it has or how fast it flies. Can't wait for any of these modules. I also heard the Apache is quiet a bitch to learn and since it's gonna be IMHO the top of ED's products, we can look forward some serious stuff here. Really curious about the way, they will implement AI gunner. Hope it's gonna be something like F-14 RIO and it's gonna be voice commands capable.
Who am I kidding? I'll buy all of these unless any turn out to be an absolute lemons at release. I'm hopeful all will be well, given the increased experience developers have under their belt now.
Thanks for the video X-Check. Personally, I would like them all but I will be interested how ED manage to authenticate the controls of the Apache as I have been told that the hotas for the actual aircraft far exceeds the limitation for even the most advanced marketed hotas around. I may be wrong on this but it will still be a bit of a handful to map every function onto throttle and stick. The Hind is going to be my most eagerly waited for helo.
AH64d all the time! Though it needs a capable AI on the second seat. Hope it will be as fun to fly as the old Microprose sim, if anybody still knows this.
Should bring a bit of balance to the the helicopter warfare side of the game ka50/mi24/mi8 - ah64/kiowa/huey/gazelle, possibly next we need some decent transport helo's chinhook, mi26 :)
Lol is there anything Razbam ISNT working on? haha After my recent purchase of the harrier, I will wait several years before buying anything they make ever again.
I have the Gazelle and i can say its pretty bare bones in places. the Biggest issue i have with it is the fact that multi crew is technicaly posible but do you decide to fly with someone else the systems are bricked. Co Pilot is in charge of INS however its not synced with the Pilot and in the M version the Co Pilot is in charge of the Missiles but the TV screen has incredible desync even when landed and will jump all over the place as if the stabilizer was turned off. Flying it is loads of fun it just seems very limited in its capabilitys at times and the fact that multi crew is not an option despite technicaly beeing able to play it that way.
I´d buy the apache module the second i come across it in dcs world (steam) - no matter if it´s early access status is bad or good. Compare me clicking the "buy now" button to lucky luke drawing his gun...
Hind... Nothing else. EDIT : and about the gazelle, the devs themselves are aware that the FM is not good. They said they havn't made the same mistakes with the Kiowa and that after the release of the -58, they will come back to the Gaz' to rework the FM. Correct me if I'm wrong.
helicopters are hard to fly anyway. if you are used to the huey and step into the gazelle, you'll find it twitchy. but it's so much fun. defenitly try the improve your piloting skill. it's some of the most fun i've had in a chopper. also the campaign is fun. the night mission where you have to fly low and fast. AWESOME!! i'ven't had major dramas with it. i consider myself fairly causal player
As you apparently know: (quote "serious development year for rotorcraft for DCS..") the plural of rotorcraft is rotorcraft, so you should change the title .. :)
you're expecting "JF-17 release standards"? prepare for disappointment, ah-64 gonna be f16 type release, bo-105 probably still vaporware (its razbam after all), hind is a bit of an unknown, BUT the kiowa might actually be the high fidelity that you are expecting.
Youre going to be heavily dissapointed by the KW by polychop, gazelle is a horrible broken mess, the multi crew system doesnt even function properly so you cant have your gunner with you. Conversely the huey works fine with multicrew
Apache is the thing that finally did it for me. Im gonna get DCS......and apparently study like im taking college courses just to know how to fly it.

your last words "these wing-less birds", don't have normal type wing lay-out, but each rotor are aero-foils (wings),
thanks for the video, I love the helicopter, a big fan, HA ! , the
That's why hell's are called rotary winged aircraft.
I will go for Hind.
I do! Even then I had a copilot - my mate on the keyboard. This is going to be too complex for my brain alone I think.
Should bring a bit of balance to the the helicopter warfare side of the game ka50/mi24/mi8 - ah64/kiowa/huey/gazelle, possibly next we need some decent transport helo's chinhook, mi26 :)
I would love to see a little bird
helicopters are always welcome, but I still wait for the forgotten a6-intruder.
waiting for vulkan before going back
Lol is there anything Razbam ISNT working on? haha After my recent purchase of the harrier, I will wait several years before buying anything they make ever again.
enjoyed the video, , do you think the RAH--66 Comanche has hopes of being in future combat helo DCS ?
I was excited for the BO-105 but then I saw the RAZBAM logo.... rip
1:00 power loop ftw.
really nice video, thanks mate : )
I wish I can play novalogic Apache longbow2 again!!
Novalogic didn't make Longbow 2. Jane's Combat Simulations did.
@@SimDeck sorry I forgot that detail!!! I play for at least two hours every day for like 2 years!!!
@@mariofernandez7435 I think Novalogic made Comanche 2.
@@SimDeck I am not sure but i did play it too! just not as epic. I was enjoying making missions
@@mariofernandez7435 I have an old PC that I use to play old simulations. Longbow 2 is on there and I still fly it. Superb game.
I´d buy the apache module the second i come across it in dcs world (steam) - no matter if it´s early access status is bad or good. Compare me clicking the "buy now" button to lucky luke drawing his gun...
Hind... Nothing else.
EDIT : and about the gazelle, the devs themselves are aware that the FM
is not good. They said they havn't made the same mistakes with the Kiowa
and that after the release of the -58, they will come back to the Gaz'
to rework the FM.
YEZ... Cant w8 for them! thanks!
AH/MH-6. For me
As you apparently know: (quote "serious development year for rotorcraft for DCS..") the plural of rotorcraft is rotorcraft, so you should change the title .. :)
Thanks for the video nevertheless!!!
realtalk tho, is this worth playing over Janes AH-64 Longbow 2?
G I V E H I N D
I believe ED said the Apache will be going into Pre sale as early as next month!
Great 👍
All aboard the Hype Train!
you're expecting "JF-17 release standards"? prepare for disappointment, ah-64 gonna be f16 type release, bo-105 probably still vaporware (its razbam after all), hind is a bit of an unknown, BUT the kiowa might actually be the high fidelity that you are expecting.
What about the Cobra?
Youre going to be heavily dissapointed by the KW by polychop, gazelle is a horrible broken mess, the multi crew system doesnt even function properly so you cant have your gunner with you. Conversely the huey works fine with multicrew

What happened with the updated Black shark - not coming after all?
I'd like to see them update it into a Ka-52.
the hind I am going for IDC if it's a Russian made dam thing big and looks really fun to use.
Helicopters are cool and all but it'll be a lot cooler if we had the F-4E Phantom II
does the kiowa have troop transport?
I thought the AH-1 is also in development?
Thanks for vid, by the way does anybody know what about Black Shark 3 project?
