Wow! Im floored by the quantity and quality of the merchandise in this store. So many mid-century pieces, especially the furniture. I could have filled a 24 foot truck.

3:41 I have been thrifting since the early 1980s : Let me tell you -- Danish modern was at every garage sale and thrift store for way under $20.00 - you pick it. And yeah, glass boomarang coffee tables would literally SIT all day long in the sun until someone came along and plunked down the $15.00 asking price..... Much of it was gettable into the late 1980s / very early 1990s as well.
09:32 That doll house on top of the sink - way cool MidMod 50s/60s house. For anyone wondering, apple juice bakelite started out clear, but oxidized to the yellow. Root beer started out brown and stayed that way. I liked the modernist pieces in there, but their prices...ouch.
Good evening, George! The old doorknobs, in the bowl, caught my eye. I like those. Not a lot there that was in my line of interest, but it looked a fun place to shop. Thanks for the take-along!!!
This was a random last-minute stop, I saw "flea market" and expected something very different! It had some very exciting things for the MCM collector, but I really expected antiques in that part of Iowa. You never know what you'll find! The doorknobs were another thing that seemed not to fit the vibe of the place and were probably worth getting
Oh how neat! This is our town. I hope you had a chance to stop by Antiques on 4th while you were here as well. 😂 I absolutely love the furniture that is in Heart and Soul!
Thank you once again George for your wonderful knowledge! I have 2 empoli decanters with stoppers similar to the ones shown that I picked up at a local Auction at different times paying only 10. for one and 7.50 for the other! Whooohooo
Imo, if someone can't do ten percent to make a sale, that's not good business sense. Glad you left it! I don't like plastic stoppers either. They look cheap. I do like the red Haeger. If you bought it, is jt for sale? Nice to see you!
The rounded end table (9:36) with the shelf underneath was a design from the 80s. I had the coffee table. I loved it, but it was a victim of my divorce. Taylor Smith Taylor is an elusive manufacturer. I remember researching one of the patterns before google lens was a thing. TST doesn't back mark some of their china. I've found TST Cathay a couple of times. That's a very popular pattern and resells well.
At 10:27 you show a green 70s wine jug. I still have mine. I believe it was for Sangria wine (that’s all I ever saw it used for); you poured the Sangria in the jug, thoroughly chilled it in the fridge, then brought it out and put the ice in the ice cubby. Sangria should be VERY chilled but not watered down with ice in the wine itself. You put crushed oranges slices in your glass and added the Sangria. Cold and delicious.
@@TheAntiqueNomad I wish I had known. My sister had a friend who owned the nicest store downtown. He worked the store and his wife took care of the 4 children they adopted. Big deal for a small town to have children with 2 days.
I love the Sharon green depression glass candy dish and so wanted you to buy it! That’s my pattern, also called Cabbage Rose, and I collect all colors but I especially like the green, the pattern shows up the best in the green, although the amber and pink are perfectly lovely. I’ve never seen anything in blue and I do have the cake plate in clear.
Those Empoli genie bottles are pretty hyped up in the retro market here in New Zealand. Some retailers are asking $300-500! I agree the quality isn't there. It is one of those crazes in the vintage world 🙂
I have missed a lot of your videos lately because I had to resubscribe to your channel. Plus I’ve been going through a family crisis. Hopefully it will be resolved on Monday March 27
@@TheAntiqueNomad well the situation didn’t turn out as well as we had hoped. It involves my grandson and a nasty custody situation. We now have to go to trail regarding the situation. So it all continues. Which means more stress and migraines for me.
Hi! I love watching your videos and I’m learning so much about many of the things in my grandparents house. The only thing is…. sometimes your audio quality leaves something to be desired. I sometimes miss out on what you’re saying. Have you tried a wired microphone or maybe a voiceover when you edit the video? right at 19:49 in the video, the darkest blue empoli bumby vase, I have 2 of them, never have found the stoppers. Should I keep looking or sell as is? Loved the shopping trip, thank you!
@@TheAntiqueNomad I have a couple royal haegar atomic orange pieces... 2 tall candleholders and a 2 tier candydish to go with it if you like! ;) In Detroit
Curious what you think a fair price is for the hanging shell lights? I have 2 in storage that my husband brought back from Thailand or Guam in the mid 70's. They have not been out of the box since he packed them up there and shipped them back to the States.
Can’t believe that wouldn’t give ten percent off!! Unless it was priced under twenty, and even some shops give me ten percent off my total order if Im paying cash! Bet the item will be there in a year.
I see a correlation between designers names and the price of their products. Adrian Pearsall, George Briard… Etc. Name your kid accordingly and their designs will command $$$$ Now,if you name your son Bill Bolthouse.. Don’t expect a lot. 😉
Lol that is so true! Of course, several (e.g. Georges Briard, Marc Belleaire and Sascha Brastoff) were pseudonyms, if your name isn't cool enough just make up something
I so enjoy all your post but it has gotten hard to hear all Your words since you updated your equipment. I feel Like I miss a lot of information you are giving us!
People too proud of their mcm. (That first booth and those Dux chairs.) Chest of drawers seemed fairly priced though. That Brasilia piece would be overpriced in my market. I sold a restored triple dresser with mirror for $1,800 and that small dresser doesn't even compare. I'm picking up a 1st gen Brasilia dining table and chairs tomorrow to restore and resale. Paid over a grand for it, but very desirable. I usually don't say what I pay for things (nor even hint at it) because for some reason I am a magnet for the envious type. Yep, I'll never join the Brasilia Facebook again, that's for sure. END OF RANT
That would be nice! I think people imagine RUclips to be more lucrative than it is. In truth, I should’ve said I couldn’t justify spending that on that piece
Do seller is supposed to take less than their worth so you can make money off then he's better off selling to a collector who actually wants them and will pat value ..flippers want everything for nothing
