Was at Wallingford Agility today. A pleasure to see this consummate professional at work. Wandered past his stand, purely as matter of interest. Yep; loads talk it, this one does it. Beautiful photographs. True dedication.

I have just picked up my Z 400mm 2.8 TC. Experimenting in my back yard with the Z9, I tried the 2.0TC with it set at 400mm f2.8 giving me 5.6. I was surprised to see that these 800mm 5.6 images of small birds were as good as, if not better than those from the 800mm6.3PF. As a result, my 800mm6.3PF is now for sale. Cheers from Australia.

Now you've got me jealous Bruce, I did love the Z400 f2.8, I just couldn't justify buying it. Was the teleconverter the Z version or the mk3 F version

The Z version, Sean. I lost my F version of the 400mm2.8 in the recent floods in Rochester, Australia.@@seancameronphotographic3740

Awesome video - I only got 50% of the teleconvertor vs non-teleconvertor images right, so I can't tell the difference. Compared to the other lenses, I think the Z400mm looked better. Looking forward to part II 😊

    Love your work and specialism.
It is very hard to see the difference in any images at the highest vid quality of 1080p available for your post -- which is a shame.
It would be interesting to he high res versions of the shots 1:1 tifs or jpgs.
Unless you were very lucky the TC17II was almost universally poor. Whereas the TC14III tended to be super and the TC20III not bad. I would drop the 17.
I recently had fixation "fix" my 300/2.8G VRII - they cleaned it and changed the AF-motor -- it now works perfik again - it was my first longer tele prime and like me is old, creaking and wonderful.
BTW. Can’t wait for my Z400/2.8TC to arrive. Then I can sell both my f-mount 400 and 600. It does the job of both better and lighter on a Z9. It is about 1" longer than the 400/2.8E-FL.

The 46mm size slip in filter is annoying - Now I need 3 different sets of slip ins.
The teleconverter is interesting in that it inserts itself amongst the elements instead of at the end of the lens like most others...

I agree, the movement class of the TC is really make me uncomfortable and annoying, They had to find the way to eliminate the noise of the glass hit, could find another way..
