What you call 'fake aggro'. i call playing center. (center, imho, is the area between the two towers, and forward a few spaces. It gives you a lot of room to adjust, and vacuums all on-side aggro to the middle.) That being said. This guide helped me a lot with my 'center' style.
Thanks for this! Looking forward to your video on defending aggro. I was doing well in my first few days of playing but have lost so much MMR to aggro plays
24:25 I tested this with crawler + balls or sledge, it's actually still very easy to missile the blue box. Seems like anything that is right on the line can be missiled, there is no way around it, or am I missing someting?
You are right! You will need a crawler next to the blue box as well, but it will remain hard to prevent missiles from hitting whatever unit is there. The main use of these blue boxes however is to prevent enemy units from getting an insta-lock, and the units placed there will often not care too much about missiles and/or have a shield (fortress, factory, typhoon, wraith).
@@RoosterRUclips Got ya! Thanks for the videos, I've been really enjoying hearing how high level players describe the meta. Looking forward to your next videos
Awesome video, clearly explained and top tier info. One thing I'd like to know is what makes you decide to go aggro? Does it depend on the matchups? Or is it just how you feel that game? I personally tend to go aggro with fast comps (balls + crawlers for example) but I have no idea if that's good or not. (1000mmr noob)
It is up to preference mostly! Many players have a playstyle they enjoy and commit to, which also applies to aggro. Objectively speaking, it is ideal to learn all playstyles so you can adjust based on starting matchups like you say. Playing aggro may help you get the most out of low-range starting units such as steelballs and tarantulas.
Just tried this, won in 5 rounds, never lost a round. Sledges, shielded typhoons, marksman and some round 4 worms. And some rhino's in the corner for distractions. Against a defensive ranged player with tarantula's,marksman, farseers and stormcallers.
Great and informative video! Question: should Worms also ideally be played behind the slow units? I thought they are often used for spear charging w chaff due to them going underground and thus negating the lock on.
Worms are a bit of an odd unit when it comes to positioning. They are currently not the best, as they cannot be photoned and thus have a hard time against acid effects. They are usually played when obtained from a free unit drop, and can either go on the frontline (for a gutshot round), or a bit further behind to avoid early damage and clean up fights once big threaths are out. They can be quite good in standard games when positioned near the backline to annoy stormcaller/marksmen/vulcan comps.
Do you always use the vertical crawlers behind the towers? I try to keep the first pack horizontal behind the towers because all it takes is one flank to pull the entirety of the chaff over to that side and will leave your centerline quite exposed.
I tend to use horizontal crawlers more for the same reason. Vertical is a bit more greedy, which can be fine if you have another crawler on the flank to take out anything while it spawns in (and can then get answered the turn after). With units like phoenix or wasps protecting flanks (partially) it becomes rather hard for opponents to pull flanks effectively without their flank unit instantly dying.
I have not been as consistent on RUclips with regards to content creation as I have been on Twitch, so it is only natural. That being said, we are nearing 1k followers which I think is amazing!

Thank you for this very well presented content. Very easy to understand for a newcomer. I'm looking forward to the third part!
Invaluable advice, thank you!
