    I love the hand signals, they seem really positive, I'm sure people would like to know a little more about them, cheaper than headsets. You have a great lifestyle, Emma is a lucky girl, she will have wonderful life experience's to call on in later life. My own sailing experience was sailing the Nth East coast of New Zealand in a small 23ft keelboat we had a great time, but age is catching up on me, so I don't sail anymore, I suppose 70 years of sailing is OK. I've had my share LOL The best of luck guys, enjoy your sailing as much as I did. Love from down under

    I was stationed on a 95 foot coast guard cutter in Morro Bay. The harbor masters office has a photo of George c Scott's yacht being flipped by a huge wave at the entrance, - that entrance can be very dangerous. But a beautiful place.

    Nice video. I sailed up solo to Morro Bay in June from San Diego. It was my first time around Pt Conception. Anchored at Cojo until about 1am to let winds and sea state mellow. I had a whale breach just off Morro Rock as I was approaching. Morro Bay Yacht Club is full of great folks. They let me tie up at the dock for the night I spent there and invited me in for the Tuesday hamburger night. The sail back down to San Miguel Island was boisterous and memorable. I love the way you guys use hand signals when mooring, anchoring.

    I think its Emma's sneakers that are attracting the flies..they are attracted to yellow.Ive worked in full-time motorsport most of my time
    and the Dunlop boys who changed our tyres always had a huge yellow awning in their truck and had to wear yellow shirts and they suffered.
    Im sure one time at Mugello in Italy they had a white awning shipped in it was that bad...I love your channel it makes me all happy every week, easily the best sailing channel on the internet, take care all of you. #compassrocks

    We brought our 75 foot boat from Monterey to Morro Bay. In some of the restaurants there they have photos of the swell crossing the jetties, absolutely incredible. That harbor can be one of the hardest ports to get into. They lose the south channel marker every year. Underneath the piers the eel grass can be so thick, you could basically walk on it. Your videos are great and look forward to seeing your adventures.
    Safe travels and watch the weather conditions around Pt. conception real closely. Best time to go around it is a couple hours before daylight.

    Yup. That's a rock alright. ;) Interesting the mist seemed to be clinging to it when you pulled in. I can see why the put mooring balls everywhere. I wouldn't want to just rely on the anchor with that much current to deal with constantly. If CA is smart they will put that power plant back into operation.

    Whoa! I just found your channel, know San Simeon well and have visited Hearst Castle, too bad it was closed, it’s opulence beyond words, …I’m watching from Tahiti!
    I know Morro Bay well, spent the summers there with my grandmother during the late 50’s and 60’s and lived there a few years mid-eighties, I’ve fished off the pier where you ate, watched them doing a 24 hour continuous pour on the stacks, up until the early 60’s we could hike up Morro Rock, the trail started on the north side, …and much more, thanks for the memories.
    I took my Tahitian Vahine wife on vacation in ’98 and she fed the squirrels peanuts, first time she had seen them, behind where you were walking away from the Rock, …when you arrive in Avila there used to be a restaurant next to the boat yard named the Cat’s, …excellent fish and chips, …and if it’s still there, ….at the pier in Pismo there is a restaurant that was rated the best Pismo clam chowder in California, …most delicious, and just next door in Grover Beach during strawberry season they sell them on the street and they're the size of lemons, as you sail past Oceano Beach, …I moved a lot of sand there with my dune buggy and at the south end of the beach you’ll see a dune mountain named Devil’s slide, …looking forward to following you on your adventure.

      The vessel behind them where they ate on the T pier is the Windwalker. It was built several miles inland then sat for nearly a decade. You may have noticed it out along Hwy 41.
      I didn't mention that if they stopped in Morro they should visit the Natural History Museum and certainly go to the Hauf Brau which has it's own dingy dock.

    It's interesting to notice the safety precautions you use while sailing. More specifically, the crew wearing life vests, even when in the protection of the cockpit. Then I watch another sailing channel, with kids, and even though the said boat is crossing an ocean, the parents and kids are running around the deck (catamaran) wearing no life vest. I side with your precautions.

      @linhgobenyt 3 года назад +6

      We know this coast is not a coast to be taken lightly. It's easier to wear them than to regret it in an instant. As we head into safer and warmer waters, we may shed the constant wear of our life vest. Teal only takes calculated risks with the crew. 😊

    8:14 Ahhh, The signs of old age are starting.... I was thinking, with the clearance below the captain's chair, it seems to me that a flip down footrest/perch could be fashioned for those of you who are vertically challenged.

    Cool harbor. Do you ever use metal detectors on a beach ? Just a thought. I would love to see 4-6 more solar panels on your roof. Also, how much rainwater could you catch. Thank you for another episode

    Is the drone shot in the beginning of the intro from the one that mysteriously crashed onto the boat? Did you ever locate the owner?

      It is! And no we never found the owner. If we ever do, we still have it!

      @@tealgoben1781 FYI - When you first mentioned the drone strike I found a Reddit sub-reddit for the area where it occurred and posted a message saying you were looking for the owner to return it but got no response.

      We plan on it! Need to wait for hurricane season to be over then we are there. In the meantime, this is the best time to be sailing in SoCal. We have a few things to take care of as well as exploring the Channel Islands. 😊

      Eventually. We want her to progress naturally in her sailing and handling abilities. 😊

    • @linhgobenyt

      I believe the mooring balls are city run. The Morro Bay Yacht Club has a few for transient boats to use for a fee.

    I've never stepped foot on a sailboat so forgive my stupid question. Wouldn't it be easier to catch the mooring buoy from the dingy and then transfer the line to someone on the boat?
    That looked like some anxiety filled piloting action you guys were trying to pull off there???
    I noticed the very next scene after mooring was of you guys riding in the dingy. So I'm thinking you were going to put it in the water anyway.

    • @tomd.3082
      @tomd.3082 3 года назад +1

      Adding the dinghy to the mix just makes the chances of something going wrong greater, especially with that kind of current. I pick up moorings solo as I have no crew (family or friends onboard).
