for some reason the balls keep merging with the cubes and turning into cubes before it can go to the sorter, how do i prevent this??

There isn't a solution. The cube generator instead of 4 potential spawns, there'll be two potential spawns for shapes. These cube generators are designed in a way that the two front droppers will merge with the Base droppers.
