I bought one of these on a whim and I love it. Did an open jam and asked the sound guy if he was cool with me using the pedal on one particular song and he seemed incredulous that I was asking. I kicked it on while also having my Big Muff fuzz on and every person half paying attention in that small bar looked up immediately. Shook the walls. And then afterwards the sound guy came up to me and said he didn't realize how low my sound was going to go. Also had 3 or 4 people come up and ask how I got my bass to sound like that. Love having this pedal in my signal chain.

People whinging about the talking on these videos, but it isn't like it's a 3 knob overdrive he's testing. These flew completely under the radar when new and tbh most still are unaware of the applications of it, so Juan's video & this one provide the history and show the controls in action. If everyone knew how to use the Boneshaker properly, in a similar fashion, you would never have seen them discounted. I had to dig through forums to find out the details of how it works. In a world of Tik Tok I like a deep dive every once in awhile.
I have the original and love it. I bought the reissue and love it. Distortion, meatbox and envvelope filter in that order is wonderful, grindy bass magic!

It 'can' - but you have to play with reall attention to dynamics, it can glitch out really easily. the best uses are when you're playing an octave higher.
Hmm......I have a different opinion on this thing When I use my Boss Sy1 in bass setting, I can pretty much do the same and more than this pedal. Plus, my tc electronic Sub n Up delivers an extra epic organ sound with the octavers up and down, something I don't see this pedal be able to do.
This might have been my first pedal, can’t remember what happened to it but I could never get it to work (bought used). Nice to know I don’t remember what I did with a pedal that now runs for like 6x what I paid for it {sob}
Same, I was like what is this stupid pedal...it sucks and does nothing. Time to look in the shed. I think I gave it away a long time ago, though! - John
+Nefarius696 ok sorry for my ignorance... you are right, effect on tip, dry signal on ring, ground on sleeve... but you can even use it in the usual way... i think...
I bought one of these so i can plonk out some basslines without having to buy & learn another entire instrument i dont have the time & money for. I figure yeah it’s not going to make my SG sound like a P-Bass, but I’m not looking for a P-Bass sound, I’m just going to put distortion on it anyway so synthy and glitchy & weird is okidoki. Beats playing a 6-step detuned low E string flopping around.
It won't track that low. This thing breaks up around an A#. Anything lower and you'll get glitchy octave jumps, which sounds cool, but it's not a very useful/musical sound.
LOL, I worked in a music shop in the late-90s. We had stacks of these DOD pedals laying around. Milk Box, Juice-something, Meat Box, even the Grunge pedal. They all sounded like shit and had stupid names on the controls. We couldn't GIVE them away. I don't even know what ended up happening to them all. Now they're being reissued and are considered "sought-after." *yawn*
DOD have some really good pedals, especially considering their price when sold used. I have an old Phaser from them, as well as a Stereo Bass Chorus, these are absolutely great. 30€ each.
Way, WAY too much blathering on before actual demo starts, at 3:08 Most folks (including myself) are not here to hear a sales pitch, we just want to hear the device being demoed.

heard this through a 300 watt all tube ampeg into a svt215e cab tonight. the very voice of god spoke to me.
kosmicwizard....lmao !!!
Mine has always scared me,I've heard tales of guys blowing up club P.As using these.
@bflo1000 that’s funny, I’m moving away from using a 15 because I got an 810 and like the feel better than 410+115.
Lemme guess...300w of matamps going, full concrete melter, in some guys concrete basement that makes it sound like 500w/Sonic Destruction?....lol

RON FROM BONGRIPPER!!!! YOU ARE A LEGEND DUDE, KEEP PLUCKIN THEM STRINGS!
Yeah please keep things seperate
Jebus! The Meatbox is a total beast! I've never considered adding a subsynth until now. I think it rattled a filling loose!
I'm afraid mine will blow my speakers in my smaller amps,i'm surprised he uses it with that vintage Ampeg.
The reissues are now going for even more than the originals haha 🤘🎸✌️
Audio starts at 3:00
Thx
aleluia !
The real mvp.
Thank you!
I can't understand how three f'ing minutes of talking went throught the editing room
The best thing Reverb ever did was hire Andy to do their demo videos.
Saw this pedal on JHS and had no idea what it was supposed to be doing. Great demo!
Oh wow, I want one of these!
I have the original and love it. I bought the reissue and love it. Distortion, meatbox and envvelope filter in that order is wonderful, grindy bass magic!
This is what I’ve been looking for all my life 😭
Awesome St Vincent riff!!!
read that as St Vitus and then was disappointed
St Vincent is trash
My ears are hurting BAD.
So good.
this is not safe. I love it
Many thanks for the video Ron. Purchased this solely based on your review. Fantastic bass sound !
It’s Ron from Bongripper. Why am I not surprised.
Huey Newton!
want this! O))
nice drums in the end, kinda 60s psych with those tambourine jingles on top of the snare
Well done 🙌🏽
" Wow, If ya talked just one more word game over " !!!
listening to this on my phone speaker on low volume so i dont wake up my roomate and thinking "yep thats a phhhhhatt tone"
Received mine today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow you must really like it to do that
What's that magnificent guitar tone at 5:46?
+Dimitris Tsironis - it's a Rainbow Machine by Earthquaker Devices. Pretty cool stuff!
Really?
Is it not the organizer?
Saibot Trah sounds like both in a row....
3:07 end of talky talky time (kinda)
Playing starts at 3:06
Wait a minute … what’s that guitar using at the end!?! The St Vincent song
cant wait to use this with my MXR envelope filter
St. Vincent!

I never thought I'd hear Ron from Bongripper play Beat It!
what effect pedal are u using on guitar?
its at 5:56
i want to see how that pedal would interact with a guitar
brown note!
What about E note? Does it follow the lower E note on the bass too? Some octaver can't do it well!
It 'can' - but you have to play with reall attention to dynamics, it can glitch out really easily. the best uses are when you're playing an octave higher.
Use it on the next Bongripper record, Ron, you coward
SO WHY ISNT HIS MEATBOX CLIPPING LIKE MINE IS??
This video messed up my cheep headphones. lol.
Y’all
Owe me new car speakers
Just checked this out on reverb because I considered getting a second one. The only one being sold is at around 400€. So much for affordable. XD
There's a clone called the Mantic Hulk which is €200 new
You can still get these brand new on the Harman site for 99$
Did you put the distortion before or after the DOD?
Omg!!! Play
Does it work without the 2 filters? Just the octave?
Hmm......I have a different opinion on this thing When I use my Boss Sy1 in bass setting, I can pretty much do the same and more than this pedal. Plus, my tc electronic Sub n Up delivers an extra epic organ sound with the octavers up and down, something I don't see this pedal be able to do.
I want one of those "Precise" basses.
been stuck in a shrine of zeroes and ones

You need a TRS cable for the output, don't you?
+Nefarius696 Why ?
it s like all other pedal in the world....
The Meatbox has a stereo out so you can split the signal into wet and dry and send the wet signal directly to the PA.
+Nefarius696 ok sorry for my ignorance... you are right, effect on tip, dry signal on ring, ground on sleeve... but you can even use it in the usual way... i think...
Aren't you afraid you'll blow that speaker?I have had the original since it's conception and will only use it with my huge rig.
Is this pedal vegan ?
is it polyphonic?
+Duke Ukulele Don't think so
Did you go Meat into Bone or vice versa?
+Nate Steckel Good question! Meat into Bone is right.
Usually, you put a bone into a box... but this gets it backwards! Only musicians can get a boxes into bones...
if you need "easy to read" controls, you shouldn't buy a "lamb series" pedal.
wheeeeeeeze
HE talks he talks he talks.....

I wanna hear this on a 5 string

Ths guy playing here is clearly not a bassist. No way you can sell us on an effect with one finger playing in 3:10 🤣🤣🤣 You ain't James Jamerson
sound of the jamming in the end is a complete disaster.
Miroslav Dimitrijevic agreed
Maybe they should tune their instruments ?
Drummer without beat, guitar player trying to be Fripp and bass player trying to be some kind of Lemmy.
Miroslav Dimitrijevic maybe they could get an actual bassist
Lol they sound like they're each playing in a different band
why not get players who can demo different styles of playing?
I have both but for some reason the original sounds better to me
Hahaha! Out if print and bow the reissues are almost as expensive as the originals!
Sacrifice...
A mi me daría vergüenza tocar ese bajo con ese impla de una manera tan ridícula.

Talks about 30-35Hz, uses SM7B which bottoms out around 50Hz. Hmmmmm...
Speak less and play more please...
less talky more play-yee
you talk to much bro just play
Dude can't help himself but to talk
this dude talked to much sayin nothin
Lotta talking
yikes
Sounds like a broken amp lol
the very first distortion intentionally recorded was via a torn speaker cone. 1951 Ike Turner and the Kings of Rhythm song "Rocket 88"
