gene simmons is a better bass player than most people give him credit for,,he doesn't care what people think,,as a bassplayer i can say that you should listen to early kiss like 100 000 years , love gun , room service , lover her all i can, black diamond,,on dynasty gene played only a few songs,,one of them was i was made for lovin you,,another great bass line,,he is good , i have seen kiss live many many times,,he plays well and kis gives a great show with all that armour and boots etc not easy
bass is all about taste in the end, as a bassist, I feel i dont need to give the rest of the band a 5 min break and have some light shine on me, talent doesnt boil down to that. i know im doing my job in the end. so i definitely support what your saying, at least some people understand.
My favorite Gene solo period. It was funky, had rhythm and was fun. I realize it’s still more of a show spot than a “solo” but I liked it much better than most so called shreddy base player solos
Who the said that Gene can't do a bass solo ? Now, you have the proof that he can do it ! Also , Gene with the God Of Thunder solo is entertaining the crowd , because "he was raised by the demons" , and he show us that at every Kiss show ! Long Live Gene , Long Live KISS !
@SatanicalEve in your opinion perhaps. I think kiss is an amazing band with great songs and one of the most spetacular sceneshow the world ever seen. but im not saying that kiss is my favourite band. There are many bands like rush f.eks that plays technically amazing. kiss is not one of them, but it is something with their songs that are so catchy. perhaps you can compare them with acdc. they are playing simple as hell, but it dosn't have to be advancend to sound awsome
@SatanicalEve Yeah, geddy is the best, but this is not a solo. its a show. and as i said earlier, just because he's not a solo man, dosn't mean that he is a bad bassplayer. Try searching for "KISS - I was made for loving you", instead of " Kiss bass solo" and listen to the bassline. Still boring? than why are you wasting your time here?
I have to have my say - Gene's 'Horror' solo's are fabulous, because it's NOT about virtuosity, but more about mood and spectacle. That works great! And within the realms of a song, Gene is a very creative bass player, and i just LOVE his playing!! But, this is just bad on so many levels... (:o)
He would have a different sound without pick. Fingers are not as punchy as pick. When I play I use Flatwound Strings and a 3mm Stone Triangle pick. Sounds PUNCHY CRISP AND CLEAN !!!
@hatsan91 I have and its nothing to write home about. Gene Simmons is an average bassist on his best days. The Kiss Army would like you to believe Kiss has some real amazing talent. Truth is the band as a whole isn't that great. I don't mind nor do I care. Kiss is a good band to listen to when you are at a party or with friends. Never seen them live but they seem to put on a hell of a show. What they lack in overall skill they more than make up in the theatrics department/
Gene barely plays on Dynasty. Ace plays bass on his 3 songs, Paul on his 3 that leaves Gene's 2 and Peter's horrible Dirty Livin'. Same with Unmasked, Ace plays bass on his 3 songs Gene's roadie plays on Shandi, Eric Carr plays on I Still Love You, Bruce on Forever. Gene barely shows up on Animalize and Asylum too. The guy sucks on bass.
You gotta love the brilliantly executed "running while playing" technique.

Paul played Bass on I Was Made, but your point still stands.
Screw technical proficiency, its all about the songs. Most bands can't write one classic, timeless song. KISS had albums full of them.
I need a tab for this solo
i actually think that animalize was one of the better tours kiss ever had. this was the one best tour they had unmasked. ps. gene is the man!
GENE SIMMONS GENIOOOOOOOOO
Demais!

I love how after gene is done playing he puts his hands out to his sides like ah yeah I did that. 🤘
My favourite non makeup bass solo!

that would make an awesome song in itself o.o

1:45 Does anyone know if there is a song for this solo?
I watched this on MTV Friday night Concerts
does anyone know where i can get the bass tabs for this
Is Gene covering the main riff for Billy Squire’s “Lonely Is The Night” for this bass solo?
Hi. What bass pedals did Gene used in this solo? Thanks a lot.
Definitely some bass overdrive, distortion, or fuzz.
I want the tabs!
Im new to youtube I have the tabs for this solo. Give me a few weeks and I will upload a lesson on how to play this.
Hell Yeah
@genesimmonshere 1. I never said i didn't like him. 2. Because I can.
@SatanicalEve

Really? It’s one of my favorite solos ever. Not pretentious in a hey look at me kind of way, It’s funky, it’s got rhythm, and it’s fun. Love it
He's still better then Bobby from Poison.
..... so when's the solo start?
@hatsan91 Well I do think Ace Frehley is a hell of a guitarist. If that counts for anything. :D
He's good. But I wish he did not use a pick
He would have a different sound without pick. Fingers are not as punchy as pick. When I play I use Flatwound Strings and a 3mm Stone Triangle pick. Sounds PUNCHY CRISP AND CLEAN !!!

soiunds like muscle of love by alice cooper a bit
I think I will go check out John Entwistle of the Who for a REAL bass solo!
@hatsan91 Are you kidding me. His bass playing is simplistic at best and boring. Geddy Lee runs circles around him
I can't stand his tone >_
