- Gravelrama 40 was held August 25-30 this year in Cleves, Ohio outside of Cincinnati. The East Coast 4 Wheel Drive Association event includes rock crawling, bracket sand drag racing, class sand drag racing, uphill drag racing, pea gravel hill climb, obstacle course, and even a parade through town. The hill climb is a fan favorite and didn't disappoint this year with well over two hundred runs.

Mustang killed it :) and I also enjoyed the green jeep who climbed it at low revs! low end torque baby! just like the Buick 350 in our Wagoneer.
cheers for getting back to me. i see the turbo,s the whinning sound sounds like a strangled cat. lol
They rework the starting line throughout the day. The pea gravel is really pretty soft most of the day. They also move the starting line back on flatter land as the rides get smaller. By the end they are taking a big run at it.

The fact that the mustang made it and some jeeps and trucks didn't, makes me proud to own a mustang

@MrSaunter if the tires up front have too much grip, they start to dig into the sand. those puffy/chunky tires kinda bounce away, and the skinny's dont really push into the sand much so there's no resistance.
Just like a sunday tour, nice and easy while the other just bogged down....
the trick is getting momentum early on and holding onto it for as long as you can, if you can do that you wont need as much traction. If you slow down you'll need traction to keep going, and the dirt is so soft you just sink in.OR like the green jeep, it's rear tires were so wide it didn't sink in and could get the traction to do the climb slow.

@TheFROSTER420 no the tires are the same diameter. But the rears ones are just wider. That wont make a difference. Its just if the front tires are smaller (in diameter) than the back

torque and traction! :) makes a tnt monster, but on quads plain old tire high speed rotation does alot

Never watched a lot of Hill Climb, but always wondered if a low RPM approach couldn't work just as well. Apparently yes xD
I think he was just not running open headers like the other rigs. You can see his tires spinning at a pretty fast rate. Spinning up the engine pretty good just not as loud.

things people dont realize is that with 4x4 you have to have the same diameter tires front and rear (or gearing changes in the smaller tire side to make it spin faster) or one axle is just pushing the other...

in the UAE we have the same type of this drag racing but we go on loose sand and we usually use Nissan patrols as the base body and chassis just search for AWAFI FESTIVAL and you are good to go
