Christopher, I have the same issue in sleeping. Not sure what's happening but I would always wake up and my shoulders or shoulder would be all jacked up. Meaning tendon and muscle pain. The only relieve I found is to sleep in a semi sitting position. This takes the pressure off the shoulders. It's a bitch to sleep like this but my shoulder pain is practically gone. Get one of those wedge pillows that allows you to sleep in your side and feed your arm through so that you aren't slouching. Made a huge difference for me
I sleep on my side and found my shoulders and upper back were always aching. I think my upper back and shoulders were rounding and collapsing into bad positions because they werent getting good support. I found positioning whatever arm was on the bottom into a front rack sort of position and laying on it like that kept my whole torso much more stable while sleeping. Shoulder felt less likely to round forward under weight which also kept my upper back from rounding.

@Chris Bumstead-lat engagement, the first rows you were doing; no need to depress your scapula/push down on your lats because your arms are so wide apart, it's going to be mostly upper back. If you depress downwards, you will take almost 100% tension off the trapezius which is almost the entire upper back.Therefore, simply retract and hold that weight with you rhomboids/upperback and pull with upper arms, thats all there is to it. You can do retraction and a quick pull with upper arms right after that, it may not look cool or smooth but it works. I listened to Iain talk a while ago how being too technical put him off bodybuilding and I agree. I saw Mike van Wick train him and that will put anyone off, it is so damn simple from a physiological perspective, retract+upper arm pull, works every time. the 45 degree angle you are landing on with your arms will target upper back and then a bit more= 100% upper back accomplished
When he mentions how he can get 10 reps at any weight, even if he goes lighter he still gets 10 reps. He mentions how he’s a sprinter not a marathoner. I think he’s onto something. He’s probably predominantly fast twitch fiber which is one reason he’s so successful. It would make sense being fast twitch dominant that he would have issues doing more reps as those fibers contract fast but run out of energy quickly. They also have the greatest potential for muscle growth than other fiber types.

Holding weight mid rep is least muscle gain pause during rep, holding during stretch is first, second is on squeeze, and this is least. Maybe Chris is doing this to change things up and see the difference but he is is experienced and need to change things sometimes. And remember maybe for you it is better this way wo just dont by afraid do try, just dont speed rep and dont ego lift if you are looking for healthy big gains

I am no very excited seeing the lag time and stress on your delts as they hold up the weight t the initial phase as well as getting it up; Reward in my opinion does not out weigh the risk at all. Also, wight loaded lat pull down machine will be great, Hany showed a converging one on his nutrition channel, you can work front lats as well as the back area which thickens up everything like a back double bicep pose.

I love using ISO holds for my athletes for tendon stiffness and tissue health, though I rarely see bodybuilders incorporate them for hypertrophy. Curious of the thought process here.
