- Set 1 year after the events of Night in the Woods, Center of Everything continues the story of Mae Borowski as she struggles with her inner demons. Working multiple jobs and missing many of her friends who have left, died or disappeared, Mae's encounters with the supernatural only seem to increase when unexpected visitors arrive, causing her to question everything she thought she knew about Possum Springs... and herself.
Night in the Woods 2 - Center of Everything is a project conceived back in 2019. I wanted to animate my vision of what a NITW sequel trailer would look like. When I started, I had very little experience in animation, learning from the ground up. The culmination of many hundreds of hours researching, testing, and eventually sharing this project is the video before you. This adventure has been challenging and rewarding in equal measure.

Hey everyone!
Thank you all for being interested in this project. Wanted to share a few details to set expectations and answer some questions for ya.
"What am I watching?"
This video is styled to appear as a video game trailer. That was the initial vision and that is what I stuck with. There is no game planned based upon this footage (I'd need an entire team for that!)
"Will there be more?"
It is probable there will be continuing episodes in the CoE timeline, but these can't be scheduled as I have other animations planned for the future on other topics and styles, as well as my ongoing music. My main goal in tackling this was to learn how to animate, and that will remain my highest priority, whatever direction that leads me.
"How can I help?"

Damn, that… Hurt me a bit actually. I want this to be real so much. I want this scene with Mae and Casey to exist, I want the church monster and the cat imposter and all these new mysteries. I want to experience Christmas in Possum Springs… I want this world to continue living. I can’t describe how much I want to go back to this town and stay here a bit longer, look a bit further. Such a beautiful work. Truly a tear in my heart.

My brain constantly rewatches this hoping for a day this gets approved by the devs to become some kind of fangame one day.
Gosh, I wish there would be an NITW 2 with this plot.
Anyways, this trailer is extremely awesome! I love how you incorporated advancements into the story (Possum Springs now having cellular reception, the cult returning, and Mae's home falling into a sinkhole for instance). You want to know how convincing the animation and visual effects are? Put it this way: If you showed a NITW fan this video and stated it was an actual trailer for a sequel, it would be convincing!
Of course, Zonie's music is no doubt on par with the game's OST. The usage of synth instruments hearkens back to the mystifying soundtrack.
For a fan animation, these little details are amazingly pulled off. I know this is unlikely, but if this series ever became a game, in the words of Fryboy,
"SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"
Alright, now to end with a Gregg quote.

Haha, you are fantastic! The details are a huge reason why this took so long to create. This is not just a series of disconnected clips. I somewhat unintentionally ended up creating an entire plot of where I believe the story is headed. Making that believable was a high priority so your praise means the world to me.

I have this bittersweet feeling because it's just amazing. Not only the visual quality itself, but the ideas in this animation are so good that it's painful to realize that it's only a fan trailer. It's beautiful, thank you! I can only imagine that in some parallel universe it's real :D

My heart is absolutely flying seeing content like this after so long. Its an amazing amount of work to see and to see bea even possibly being more open around mae and the more broad world aspect is phenomenal. I would hope Finji would adopt this idea but at the same time alot of the old story and music came from Alec. If there were a way to recapture the music he was capable of putting out and be able to match the emotion and storytelling he and Scott put in, this idea has an absurd amount of potential. An outstanding creation and trailer overall, bravo!
Funny thing, Bea was almost nonexistent in early drafts of this project. Once the cell towers were upgraded and everyone got faster internet, she spends her time outside work to take online classes for a business degree, so she really didn't figure into much of the story as it was developing. But once the trailer pieces started coming together, Bea managed to make it after all.
@@WolfGodwin well its absolutley wonderful to see her make it in. I always wanted to see her open up more and mae and bea's friendship blossom some more after the first game. Bea is possibly one of the more complex characters along side Angus and even lori. So seeing her make her appearance is wonderful. Hopefully future projects see her some more, if not though, they are all amazing just the same!
So pissed off when I realised this wasn't an actual upcoming game. Great job, mate, you really nailed the style.

As a long time nitw fan I am very curious for what the story for this hypothetical sequel would be, this fan trailer had me hooked. The implications of traveling between bright harbor and possum springs, mae’s jobs changing it just leaves me wanting more.
The original plan was just to create a bunch of clips, but the story was too integral to ignore. If you check my Twitter @BeastTriune you'll see pages from my notebooks of a lot of ideas that didn't make the cut but may still play into future episodes.

This was remarkable! I almost believed for a second that this was an actual trailer for NITWs 2! Your animation on keeping the games artstyle but making it newer and fresher was great.

I constantly come back to this just to give myself an idea of what a sequel would be like. Its insane that were getting a new game from the studio now. Hyped for Revenant Hill but I still would like this to be a real entry for the series. Lots of love to you for this!

I really love this concept behind the project, gotta say i always felt if Mae wasn't the protagonist on a second game it would def have to be Lori facing a similar problem with the "center of everything" or this supernatural problem
Bro I was so hyped that this was an actual sequel but it's still exciting to see the nitw community alive! This was super convincing and it's clear you put a lot of work and heart into it ♡
THIS MADE ME SO HAPPY!!! I remember being super hyperfixated on NITW when it first came out and again in February of this year after I finally got to buy the game and play it myself, and now I’m on my 4th almost 5th playthrough!!! I love this creation with all my heart, you really fed the fandom a great meal
I only found NITW in the middle of last month and it's stuck to me too closely. I love how active the community remains for such a real and perfect game. This trailer looks so official too I can't but appreciate all the effort put here, not only in the animation but the dialogue, gameplay antics, characters, music being so reminiscent of the original!

I remember buying this game on my switch and couldn't stop playing it. I loved it with all my heart. This game is something I cannot explain of how amazing and beautifully is made. Every second of it it always reminded me of my past family members that passed away and it made me feel a bit broken.. But it also made me remember and realize that their always here for me even of they're gone..this game especially Mae really described me and yet describes my own prolems in life..Mae's a weirdo and an energetic character yet feeling so lost inside,
I had a big experience playing as Mae because sometimes I was thinking im not the only one being a weirdo who's pretending to be ok all the time. This game was and is a way different game from the other ones. The choices, the characters are something that I never had more fun, chill, curiosity and yet fear of what is going to happen next

I really like the idea of Casey returning only to not being an entirely good character. Maybe he's excited to see everyone and means well, but only reveals himself to mae due to her connection with the black goat and all. Or like, maybe surviving the black goat changed him in a way he cant control. This has me jumping all around! Amazing work! 💜

Im kind of late but im so happt that nitw hasn't been forgotten completely. The game is by far my favorite game, only tying with gta 4 for personal reasons. This game will always have a place in my heart, and knowing it still matters to others make me so happy. You did a amazing job on this, keep it up.

i just wanted to say thank you for making this. the animation is so amazing i had no idea it was fan made, i’m currently crying bc i love this so much. even though i know it’s not real, nitw was the first game to make me feel like a human (despite them all being animals) and i’ll be watching this on loop for the next week

Absolutely incredible work, man. The music, the animation, the lighting…. It all comes together beautifully to create something truly special. I especially liked that early transition to Mae’s eye and the “math people” line! It’s been really cool watching you on this journey, and this is one hell of a finale. Bravo!!! :)

it was such a great fan project that I initially this was a legit teaser trailer for a second game haha
I literally played this game for the 1st time during the late summer this year & the game positively impacted me immensely to the point where I'll never forget the adventures of Mae/Bea/Gregg/Angus/Germ/etc... ever. I would honestly love both scenarios where there is a sequel & where there isn't to preserve the original but I'm glad the community is still so active & dedicated to where a sequel to it can be a possibility! Keep up the amazing work!

The amount of accuracy, detail, story, etc. All shown in this trailer, it genuinely feels like a real trailer for a sequel (aside from the spoilers it kinda has in it, like casey being alive) I love this. I don't think a sequel will come for the game, but thinking of what one could be like is fun and it's great to see this community still existing and loving the game years later. What a great game and what a talented piece of work you've made here.

Arrived teary eyed thinking it was a sequel. But realizing it wasn't, didn't change much. It just felt right. Like the story truly didn't just end back then. A sequel like this would have everything making sense. As a fan, really nothing I wouldn't enjoy being canon.
The animation just placing everything in my mind is enough to set a course for the imagination, to cause relief, to make me go "yes, this is what I'll believe happened next. Their lives did go on, their adventure didn't just end with a rough hit of reality."

The scene where Mae's house sinks literally gave me chills. This is crazy good! I've always wanted a sequel to NITW, but I know the chances of it really happening are extremely low. This satisfies some of that want, so thank you so much for making it!
