Several traditions, beliefs, and tribal wisdom are facing the threat of extinction as most of them have been passed down through generations without ever being formally documented. The loss of these priceless assets poses a threat to the diversity and richness of tribal culture.
Keeping that in mind, Tata Steel Foundation has made consistent efforts in promoting and preserving tribal culture and knowledge through various round-the-year programmes.
These interventions enable tribal communities to create intellectual property around their tribal heritage such as language, songs, folklore, cuisine, handicrafts, healing practices, and more.
It is the documentation and preservation of such practices today that ensure the identity of a tribal community remains undiminished tomorrow.
