    • @heavypeki
      @heavypeki Год назад +14

      @@jmilne5751 Note that Nadal 3 losses at Roland Garos are constituted from 1 Soderling and 2 (TWO!) Djokovic, whilst Nadal never defeated Djokovic at Australian. If you look H2H at Roland Garos, Nadal leads Djokovic 8-2, while at Australian Open is 2-0 in Djok favor. Which only explains how consistent Djok was on Nadal's favorite GS and surface, he managed to go deep into the tournament quite often, while Nadal failed so many times to reach semis or finals at AO. Just shows how complete and all around player Djokovic is. Nadal's records at FO are ridiculous and will never be broken, but he is unarguably less complete player than Djok in every term. He always plays his game no matter the opponent and surface, he is one dimensional. He is beast, no question about it, but one dimensional beast. While Djokovic is much more complete and can adapt and change tactics, he is like a an AI that improves every time opponent improves, sometimes seems literally impossible to win against him, like a computer. Another proof is double career golden Masters, double career slam, non calendar slam, and 5 ATP finals, while nadal played 10 ATP finals, won 0, and also lacks 2 masters. Anyone who puts Nadal in front of Djokovic just because of his clay records is plain stupid, because tennis is not only clay. You have to play all three surfaces to be the best, you cannot just ignore 2 out of 3 and completely dominate 1 surface and call yourself a GOAT.

    • @jmilne5751
      @jmilne5751 Год назад +8

      @@heavypeki It amazes me how much detail you forget to mention....Nadal loss to soderling was due to injury. An injury that kept him from Wimbledon. Look at the records that showed injuries to Nadal during majors...there are lots of them. You also forgot to mention that Nadal has more US Open majors than Djokovic on Djokovic favourite surface & even has 2-1 H2H at US Open to him...You forgot No Olympic gold for Djokovic, Nadal youngest to win 1st major, youngest to win all 4 slams, so stop sprouting that Djokovic is the better all round player... His stats ONLY look good because 2 of 4 majors are on hard & most ATP tournaments are on hard as well. If Djokovic was such an all round player & the GOAT he would have ALL the records...but he doesn't & yeah he is BEHIND Nadal H2H in Slam matches & finals....

    Majority of these are held by the big 3 which speaks volumes of domination by them. However, the only record that seems ‘unbreakable’ to me is the 14 French Open one. Nobody has loved Nadal more than the court Philippe Chatrier. Federer’s 237 consecutive weeks is also the example of sheer dominance for straight 4-4 1/2 year. Djoko’s double career masters is also a specimen of its own. I mean to win all the masters twice speaks how many variety’s of gameplay that man has mastered. Simply Incredible!

      What makes the Nadal record so astounding is that the French Open is really the toughest tournament to dominate, historically. Because the rallies are so much longer, and defense is so important, it tends to be won by younger guys, and it's easy for an outsider to grind his way through the mix. Michael Chang and Mats Wilander each won it at 17, for instance. Borg was barely 18.

Slams are five sets. and if you have better fitness, you have a huge advantage...like all the Big Four had. But it's easy to lose a three setter, if you run into a player who is in the zone....an Isner or a Karlovic, for instance. But Djoker won them all...and he won them twice. Will be hard to do, but not impossible…it’s been a while since he was successful at MC tournament, so i’d imagine this would be hardest of the three to collect again as he pretty much “forgot how to win” there…but i can see another french and another Cinci somewhere down the road…

Borg shares 5-6 place with Federer - 41 match each. Also you did not mention the real reason the streaks are harder nowadays. The structure of the tour does not allow to play lesser tournaments in big successions, because on the week when masters are held, there is no other tournaments (just like with Slams). It was different in Borg's time and players had more choices in where to play.

      Winning 105 straight points without an UFE is impossible. If you won 48 points in a row, you won two sets. If you won 72 points in a row you won three sets. I think you must mean that he PLAYED 105 points in a row without an UFE. Which is relatively easy against Isner, since he takes the racquet out of your hand with his big serve and first-strike forehand....so it's hard to make an UFE if you can barely touch the ball. AT the same time, if you can hit some pretty good serves and forehands yourself, like Roger clearly can, John is not going to return many, since he has the lowest break of serve rate in the ATP. Winning 2+ titles for 18 consecutive years.

      Irrelevant records. That only shows that Roger and Novak had injuries for a longer period of time than Rafa.

      @@MoistyHydration Rafa clearly has been injured for way longer than Novak and Roger and because of this he has less Grand Slam appearances than the other two but despite that he has the highest GS count

      @@joshuathomas2012 Sure he has. He comes every season on clay to win Roland Garos, but as soon as the grass and Hardcourt season starts he's nowhere to be found or he is "injured" what a coincidence. Novak for the last 2 years Novak wasn't let to play on 4 grandslam tournaments (in which he was the favourite) and no-one points it out. Rafa lost every credibility of he's injury status. So many times he says "I'm not prepared, I'm still not felling that well" and procedes to play a insane level of tennis. Seriously who can believe that guy anymore?

    Nobody said that anyone would ever beat Gretzky's goal scoring record either. But Ovechkin will do that before he retires. Never say never.

    You just need one of big three to be reincarnated without the other two and you can have any of these records repeated or even beaten. I am almost certain I won't see this in my life of course. But never is a big word. I think we don't really understand how exceptional the last 20 years of tennis have been. Eisner-Mahut is however impossible by definition as I believe they put rules in place to avoid it.
