I went there on a school trip for a fortnight in the spring of 1980. No electricity, no hot water, gas lit croft & a population in the mid-30s. I only appreciated it decades later & wanted to return but it’s very different now with tourism being big industry so I won’t spoil my memories & shall remain thankful for having been there when it was at it’s unpolished best. Thanks Mr Gannon, you were a great geography teacher.
We had the most amazing week on Eigg. We stayed at Glebe Barn which we highly recommend. We had an equally isolated experience at Laig Bay. Gorgeous. N&Nx

I’ve been watching “Designing the Hebrides” on BBC2: gives a lovely look into life on Hebridean islands that tourists rarely see.

Thank you Alex and Marta for taking me on your travels to places I will never be able to see in person. ❤❤
