Thank you for explaining the process, I think you explained it even for people with zero skills in any kind of DYI project so there's no reason anyone should go wrong. I do think if it was me I would have explained that you wanted that light/dark look on the tiles and not evenly stained to give it one solid color, that way they don't think you sort of rushed through the demo just to show us how to apply the stain. Again, great job.
Thank you Darryl! 😃 This our FX Nano Semi-Transparent Water Based Stain. It’s our # 1 seller specifically because it mimics the two-tone finish of an acid stain! It’s meant to give that natural high/ lows and dark/light effect. For a solid stain finish, please check out our Traditional Stain color chart here: classiccoatingssystems.com/classic-wb-stain-colors/
Vibrancy can be achieved with water-based stains, and allow the applicator to decide how solid or opaque the color will become. With an acid stain, you really are at the mercy of the reaction that occurs. Water-based stains have additional functional benefits that are attractive to both the applicator and end-user. For instance, they do not discolor or fade over time, or radically change color due to UV rays. When applied to properly prepared concrete surfaces, water-based stains will not exhibit cracking, crazing, spalling, delamination or other deteriorating effects. Since acid stains chemically react with concrete, and because no two concretes are the same, an acid stain reaction yields a different look or color on different batches of concrete. Acid stains require the extra steps of cleaning and neutralizing after 24 hours, then additional time for the concrete to dry prior to sealing. Whereas, water-based stains don’t require neutralizing or cleaning after the stain has been applied, so sealers may be installed the following day. Water based stains are much easier to apply with no harsh chemicals or clean up. Hope this helps!
What does the cleaning, regular maintenance, consist of? I have never heard of water based concrete stains, I thought only acid etching was an option. With the water based concrete stain can I, say spray a detergent like dawn and water, to help remove any moss buildup from over the winter, and then pressure wash it off? Will pressure washing remove the sealer and stain?
I have an existing slope exposed aggregate grey tinted driveway from 2001. The city is putting a new new sidewalk. They will be replacing bottom concrete section which is about 10 ft by 20 ft. I would like to stain to get a similar grey to our existing driveway. I will have the city provide me with a test area of exposed aggregate so I can test to get a similar colour??. Also, do I need to seal. I think I prefer not to as I do not want the driveway to be slippery with ice & snow in winter. A comments, suggestions regarding matching for colour. Does the colour dry darker or lighter after a month or stay the same? I also need to be careful as the new city sidewalk is lower down the driveway from where I am staining! Duct tape along the expansion joint line or perhaps imbed a sheet of plastic along the expansion joint line which I can cut off later.
Hi! Great question. This is our Semi-Transparent Water Based Stain, which was created to give highs and lows. If you are looking for a solid uniform finish, I recommend our Traditional Water Based Solid Stain!
Also please explain the peeling and stain. I thought there was NO peeling when using any stain? I’m new at this and you’re the perfect person to ask. Thanks in advance.
I'm looking to stain my driveway. There are a few different sections of concrete, some older and some newer, with slightly different colored concrete. Would your water based stain look the same across all of the different types of concrete on my driveway? I'm trying to make all of it look the same. Thanks!
Does sealing make the surface slippery? I painted my basketball court and don’t want to slip. Also, will straining make it harder for tire marks to and oil stains to show up on the concrete?
Hi, I want to water stain the concrete floors in my house. I've already removed the carpets from all 4 bedrooms, I stripped all the carpet glue and cleaned the floors thoroughly. However the carpet glue left a shadow (darker discoloration) on the concrete floors!!! how do I treat this issue, specially since these shadows are right in the center of the floor from one end to the other!!??
Sir, I had to pull up my vinyl flooring in my home because a water pipe burst in a wall. I would like to stain the concrete. Could this product be applied indoors someway with out pressure washing. Is there an alternative way of cleaning, such as mopping very well. Maybe multiple mopping sessions? Or is this just not for me?
Thank you for the information, very helpful, but I would like to know if I use the Classic stripper to remover the sealer that was apply on top of stamped concrete color with release , the release color with remover as well ?
Hello, yes you always want to cover all surrounding areas with some plastic drop cloths. Properly covering and protecting surfaces before staining is a crucial step. Just like you would with any paint.

Hi there! That's precisely the intention for this stain. Our FX Nano Semi-Transparent water-based stain, is designed as an alternative to acid stains. It delivers a two-tone aesthetic similar to an acid stain finish, with highs and lows. Yes we do! We manufacture many different kinds of sealers. Visit our website to see the kinds of sealers we offer. Www.classicCoatingsSystems.com or Contact us at 951-279-2600 for technical support.
You will need to use our Super Eco Etch Cleaner first to remove any efflorescence, calcium, oil, and grease, from the concrete. Then you can stain the next day. Please give us a call (714)788-9949 and we can guide you through the process.

It looks easy but I would rather get a pro to do it. I am in 92660. Can you recommend someone who can clean, stain and seal the concrete. We've had one company do this with New Look and it is peeling in a year.
Hi Steven! Our products are professional grade with unbeatable results. They meet commercial standards, are durable, attractive, and easy to clean. Combine our quality products with expert application, and your floors will be in the best shape for many years👍
Hi what if you are using this stain to do concrete floors inside the house and can’t use a pressure washer…what do you suggest to prep interior floors?
To prep/ clean interior floors with our organic Cleaner, you can use a walk behind auto scrubber, or a stiff nylon brush & scrub the floor with water. Then pick up with a shop-vacuum
Just had my patio stained today, and every place there was previously an item sitting on the concrete, the stain didn’t stick to those spots. Concrete guy says there is nothing he can do about it because we had an item laying on the concrete. Now I have these huge bald spots in my patio where the stain didn’t stick. What can I do😭
Hi J, I’m so sorry that happened. You can easily remove the stain with our Classic Stripper. Please send me an email and I can recommend further which of our products will be best for you. Natalie@ClassicCoatingsSystems.com
Hi Jonathan, this is a penetrating water based stain. There is no neutrilizng needed. Therefore, once the stain is completely dried, you can go ahead and seal.
I just had a stamped concrete patio poured with regular no color concrete along with a dark and light powder release. I'm not satisfied with the finished product so I'd like to add a stain before I seal it. I've just finished power washing the entire surface and scrubbed down the surface with a liquid soap and water. Can I add the stain to the surface as it is? I already purchased the stain and sealer from a local store here in Orange, CA.
tru blitz Neutralizing is required when using an acid stain. The stain used here is our FX2 Water Based stain, in the color Terracotta Clay. Very simple and easy product to use.
I want to stain my driveway grey, however I live in a area where it does snow a lot and have been told a water based stain would end up peeling up from weather. Now I am battling between an acid stain and water based stain. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or their experience with water based stain?
Acid stain is permanent. If you want to remove it, you have to grind down the concrete. My new condo has an ugly acid based, orange-y color stain, and I want to remove it. Unfortunately, it's more expensive and messy to remove because they have to grind it. If you get sick of the color, it would be more expensive to change. I suggest keeping that in mind.
@@Sundazs You could forego the grinding. Just use a stripper if any sealer remains, acid etch surface then go over it with a microtopping/overlayment and boom..brand new surface to stain as you please
I would use acid stains with good solvent based acrylic sealer outside. So even if u let the sealer wear off after X-number of yrs, acid stained color is essentially permanent.
my polebarn floor was just poured. my guy said to not apply anything for 28 days. He applied a cure and seal. I was thinking about using a urethane instead of an epoxy. Any ideas would be helpful, thanks!
hi Michael, first remove cure n seal with classic paint and sealer remover after clean with classic eco clean and pressure wash before applying sealer.
In the Southern Hemisphere start with the clockwise and end with counter clockwise to properly combat the corollas effect. I think the intent is not to develop strait overlapping spray lines.
You can wipe immediately with a damp towel. If it's already dried, you will need to use our eco-friendly Stripper to remove the stain. We always recommend properly covering all surrounding areas before staining!
Hi Karin, We recommend a Hudson sprayer /any backpack sprayer; anything with a continuous spray. Make sure it has a cone tip, not a fan tip- as they tend to leave streak marks. We have several solvent sealers, you can check them out on our website www.classiccoatingssystems.com although, I recommend our Armor 2K sealer.
There’s so many ways and techniques for applying, but we recommend the pump sprayer because it looks more natural and easier to control. You can certainly use a roller, it will go on much heavier though. It’s definitely up to user preference!
We offer multiple shades of red. Check out our color charts here: classiccoatingssystems.com/classic-wb-stain-colors/ classiccoatingssystems.com/classic-fx-stain-colors/
Hi! Of course! Please keep in mind that all of our color charts were done on standard gray concrete. Colors may vary if your foundation is a different color. Always do a sample first!
Mopping with solvent like xylol/xylene or,If you have a floor buffer (with pad driver &black stripper pads), wet/dry vac u can use a water rinsable stripper ..I used Jasco stripper from home depot. I'd just pour out stripper and spread in ONE direction!(back and forth causes solvent to evaporate too quick) Work a section at a time..After spreading, spray some water on it and hit it with buffer, keeping section wet then quickly vacuum & mop off residue.
Hi Maria, it depends what chemicals. Regular household cleaners when applied to sealed concrete, does not harm the sturdy material. Sealers are what protect the stain & surface from being damaged.
We highly recommend cleaning your surface (even if it's new concrete) in order to remove any and all foreign materials from the surface! Remember, new concrete needs 28 days to cure before any cleaners, stains, or sealers can be applied.
Hello, there is no need to mix with water. The stain comes readily prepared out of the gallon! The only mixing necessary is to mix the product very well so the pigments are not sitting on the bottom. This is in order to assure the color is cohesive through out the application process.
Yes, our Fx2 Armor Stain will work on polished concrete up to 400 polish. I would recommend one of our 2-part sealers for this. Send me an email if you have anymore questions, I’d love to help you out Natalie@ClassicCoatingsSystens.com
Hi Caleb! The cleaning process with a pressure washer should be done as the first step before starting the job. After properly prepping the surface, you can go ahead and stain + seal same day. As long as the surface is dry, you can go ahead and apply your next coat. Our products are formulated to work as a system!

There’s so many ways and techniques for applying, but we recommend the pump sprayer because it looks more natural and easier to control. You can certainly use a roller, it will go on much heavier though. It’s definitely up to user preference!
Do you have in red colour?
We offer multiple shades of red. Check out our color charts here:

Will this stain work on colored concrete to change the color?
Hi! Of course! Please keep in mind that all of our color charts were done on standard gray concrete. Colors may vary if your foundation is a different color. Always do a sample first!
How can you remove the sealer inside your home without pressure washing it?
The company suggests using an auto scrubber!

How does this hold up to chemical cleaning products?
Hi Maria, it depends what chemicals. Regular household cleaners when applied to sealed concrete, does not harm the sturdy material. Sealers are what protect the stain & surface from being damaged.
Gracias señor

If I'm having new concrete poured, do I need to avoid wash before staining?
We highly recommend cleaning your surface (even if it's new concrete) in order to remove any and all foreign materials from the surface! Remember, new concrete needs 28 days to cure before any cleaners, stains, or sealers can be applied.
What if the concrete has paint ?
All existing material must be removed from the surface using our Stripper. You must have a properly clean surface before applying any new products.

Hi! The cleaning process is done first. Then come in and stain + seal. Call 714-788-9949 if you have any more question.

Hello, there is no need to mix with water. The stain comes readily prepared out of the gallon! The only mixing necessary is to mix the product very well so the pigments are not sitting on the bottom. This is in order to assure the color is cohesive through out the application process.

Classic Coatings Systems
I'm surprised you don't need to pressure wash it after the stain before the sealer
Hi Caleb! The cleaning process with a pressure washer should be done as the first step before starting the job. After properly prepping the surface, you can go ahead and stain + seal same day. As long as the surface is dry, you can go ahead and apply your next coat. Our products are formulated to work as a system!
This is a water based stain not an acid stain there is no need to neutralize.
Is that a permanent stain
These are permanent penetrating water based stains. They can be removed with our Stripper Paint & Sealer remover if you wish to remove the stain
