Don Cornelius was a man ahead of his time. Rest In Peace.
“Sooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuul Traaaaaaaaaaaaain” is when you knew Saturday morning cartoons were over. But, damn, as a young white boy in Ohio, I loved watching the Soul Train dancers.
sooo true. lol
💓💓💓💓💓
instablaster...
No family event was complete without The Soultrain Line. Ah the wonderful 70s.
Fun fact: That was the first LA taping...the Chicago episodes were first.
The actor playing Don is grear!👍👍👍
I'm a real 70's baby
Nothing like music dancing and family 💃 🎶 🎶
This is awesome I grew up on soul train wouldn't miss a Saturday and the guy who plays Don Cornelius does a wonderful job and all the others this shows get 10 star for me
Exactly especially in the 80s
“Love, Peace and Sooouuullllll!!!!” The Soul Train the best dance show of the 70’s and 80’s!!
,
I grew up watching Soul Train. 🚝 An iconic show that brought people together. 🌏👋
My childhood memories of the RIP Don Cornelius and the Soul Train Dancers in the 1970s. Wow,everyone everyone brought their A Game on the Legendary Soul Train. That guy favors Mr.Cornelius so much. I was in awe of the Beautiful Signature Afro's. I am still wearing my hair in a Fro. I wished that we had a Time Machine
I'm in favor of time travel 1977-91 is where I'll be.
Are you kidding? Soul Train is the time machine!!
He sounds just like Don Cornelius
Yes it does!
No he doesn’t.
He even looks him
Don Cornelius voice was deep.. And he was in command
not hardly!
The birth of The Soul Train Line
The Soul Train line began on the original Soul Train show in Chicago that aired every afternoon on channel 26 and featured real high school students from the inner-city. It was a great show.
The Soul Train show 📺 brought back so many wonderful memories of the show 📺 for me watching at home as a little girl
One Word,TRUE📺
I can't wait! This is when tv was fun and loving and enjoyable...
Loved it memories flowed good and bad lol
"Let it go, I like it." chills
I remember Soul Train first started back in Chicago it used to come on every day for a half an hour back in the days when we used to barbecue party and have a ball without no shooting.
RIP Don
I love the show but hate the fact that y'all are erasing the Chicago history of it. My aunt's used to dance on the show when it first started in the Chi!
Bullshit.com maybe in season two they will take us back to the Chi.
From the VH-1 Soul Train documentary, Don Cornelius said that he didn't have any archived footage of the show during its Chicago period. I'd love to see what the show was like before it went national in L.A.
@@lorenzoalsobrooks739 The TV station wciu in Chicago I think erased everything that had to do with it to reuse the film which is a shame because it would be great to know if someone has a least a little bit of it somewhere and yeah I think they should have started the episodes in Chicago instead of just LA plus the guy who supposedly it's playing Don Cornelius it's very difficult for me to buy him as that because he's not tall and he seems a little bit too young Don Cornelius was probably in his maybe mid-thirties when you started the show so I don't know how old this actor is but it's sort of difficult to put him in that roll and it doesn't really sound like him that much to me he had as all of you know, a richer, deeper voice.i don't have BET right now but I hope I can finally get the episodes so I can watch for myself instead of seeing bits and pieces but I do miss Soul Train..
I agree that the actor portraying Don looks too young for the role. It's a stretch that he could command the authority that Don actually had since Don was a more mature man even at that stage in his career.
Bullshit.com I thought they did in the opening
The guy introducing Don is Issac Hayes son
Oh Wow
Ike Dirty
Wow I didn't know that.
Hell I was saying to myself that he looks like him
Jr
well i'm glad don layed down the law
Love me some black brothas and sistas....especially back in tha dayz
This was a GREAT SHOW. I thought they were coming back for the 3rd yr. I was so Sad when they didn't return.
Don Cornelius' son is doing a Great job in re-enacting his father's legend. Outstanding !!!
Props to the great Don Cornelius, may he Rip.....Remember people every thing we do is Black History so be positive. PEACE 💖
"I mean look at that. It's just a sea of blackness. Don't you just love it" I love that line. Soul Train was an amazing show. Even though I was a year old when the show ended.
Great first two episodes. My only gripe is I wish they made the _Soul Train_ set much larger just like they did on the original show. Simone wanted _all_ the smoke. Can't wait for next Tuesday.
I felt the Soul Train sign in this scene was more late 1970s than the one used in 1971. But at least it's the official show logo.
Same. @@lorenzoalsobrooks739
This is the beginning of Soul Train the sets were small like that. I know I watch the show from the beginning yeah I'm old as dust haha
All the old dancers said the set was very small
RIP
3:41 The brotha in the left front was killin it tho😂😂🔥
5:08 Don Cornelius Walking In Like My Old School Teachers 🔥
I love this series I can’t wait for the other episodes
Is it me, or is the spirit of Don Cornelius possessing Sinqua Walls on this show? It's so uncanny.....
Soul Train nothing but great memories from my childhood on Saturday morning!RIP Don Cornelius we miss you so!😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
They need to bring that show back
FACTS!
You tell them don
Born same day, same year, same town as my mother. May they both Rest In Peace
He was arrogant, but had great voice and presence.
You could feel it all on the receiving side of the camera and signal.
*But the Artists and Dancers are what we were watching for.*
1972, I was 14 and a Sophmore, a Sly, Al Green, and Glady's fan... Chaka and Mavis too.
I can't believe how honed my tastes were and what absolute excellence in talent I was drawn to, I'm rather proud of my younger me for that level of taste.
I was a musician then too.
(i would be surprised if a Coca Cola Advertising Exec would have made such a remark, after all, Advertising and Public Relation both cone under the Journalism De0artment, and few if any, were ever 8n the firld of these areas and Journalism, that were prejudice, and certainly not ignorant enough to make a statement like that, if they were.
Back then, the Medias were on the Cutting edge, they were aware, educated, and the Media Owners absolutely were "Non Partisan and Non Prejudical" in their works, Projecting the image of Centered, Mature Minded, and Wise
Not like the now 24 hr Cable News, Tabloid Commentaries for Profits.
It was a different era, the shows were an hour and they didnt need to fill 21 hrs of air time, nor *"Produce Toxic Content to attract Viewers"*
If they had behaved like that, the Nation, and I mean 98% 9f the Public, would have Shut them Down but Turning off the TV.
The Public then had far more integrity, regardless of their personal position on Women, Race, Abortion, Vietnam, or the Space Program.
They, Adults, Adolescents, Children, all behaved with a given reflection of respect for self and others, for the Country, for their Elders, and for values.
Not to say there didnt exist disru6s, or people whom wete attention seeking, 9f thise with an absence in respect for others, that existed, but *"You did not see it in, on or around, the Content aired to the Public, neither in News, nor Pop Culture Events/Shows."*
It does not take long to condition the Public in any direction, back then it was not a daily dose of BS and prooaganda. It is today, and it will cease, when folks get "Conscious in Thought", realize how they are being manipulated by what an "Opinion News Actor/Host" promotes to bait the viewer and get the reaction.
Unconsciously reacting from the Lower Mind...
Thats what "We the Public" have to realize and Then, We can take Our Power Back, and enjoy Adulting again.
If one is concerned about prejudices, if one wants to be a part of the whole, treated with respect, and go in to live life focused on the Desires rather than the Undesired. ...
*"then know, it absolutely begins within each, we create our own reality.*
Focus on the desired, stop separating self, race, gender, religion, sexual preference, from the whole, stop accusing and spending time engaging in the subject, stop repeating the behaviors that are the energies of the undesired, and Begin living in the desir, feeling the feeling of the desired, being the True Self, Soul Self, reflecting the True Self, not the image of the vessel .
Be the essence of how you desire to be known, understood, because the Laws of the Universe, particularly the *"Universal Law of Attraction"* clearly define the fact that our: *"Thoughts+ Feelings X Beliefs"*
= *"Our Frequency"* = our Experienced Reality.
Which means "We each create our own reality, and what we think/feel about ourselves we project in our image and energies, its what others see and feel.
We, have the power to be, change, experience, our desires in our Life Journey, and this is Absolute.
Go get your Dreams!
... and be Conscious + Noce

Don Cornelius in 1971: I'm going to start Soul TRAIN with a BANG
Dorian Gregory in 2006: I'm going to end Soul Train's WHOLE CAREER.
Love the guy who plays Don C. Well done.👏👏 He came from the tv show Power. Didn't realize it til afterwards. Love Kelly Rolland, but I'm not sold on her playing Gladys knight. Maybe I'll get use to that role as the episodes carry on. Otherwise, good show so far. It's about time a tv series pay homage to Soul Train and it's visionary. Would have been nice to see this on the big screen though. Soul Train and Don deserves that.
pansysgarden awww man he sure did. Didn’t he play 50 Cents son? Wow good observation.
Kelly has the look but not the voice. She tried to get it right but it's just not raspy enough.
@@auntiesister Yes, he did play his son. Thanks.👌
@@najeenixon1834 I agree with you. I saw an interview Kelly did where she said she trying to get her voice raspy like Gladys. She tried, but didn't succeed.
Yep he played Shawn....50 Cent son.
THIS IS A SHOW? AW HELL YEAH!!!
I could be wrong but the speech patterns don’t seem dated as I imagine they should be. Clothes, hair and set look toto notch it’s just the way they speak. Seem like they 4got that one piece of the puzzle
I agree
There was a interview of the Legendary Pat Davis from years ago. And she said that some of the girls were bullying her on the set, because of her Unique clothing and dancing styles. She was also a favorite one to see from the viewing audiences every Saturday.
Oh No.Tget were Jealous. Loved Pat Davis
I had the biggest crush on her ( Patricia Davis) my sister loved Damita Jo. Her favorite dancer.
Two of the best early dancers of the early Soul Train
I watched the premiere on Tues. night. It wasn't bad.I wasn't blown away but not bad. I do plan to watch the whole series. Don C. Had a smoldering mysterious quality about him that some how isn't being captured. The whole feel of the project is lacking an authentic 70s vibe. It feels like a play or something. I wanted to be transported back to that era . I don't think they worked hard enough to capture a true 70s feeling.
Yea man give it some time or rewatch the episodes
I thought it was great!! Especially the guy who played Don Cornelius!!
Most of us didn't know him personally, but I think he really nailed the
M.C. Don Cornelius.
Kevseb66.... I see what you are talking about. The mannerisms and body language of people today is so different from the 70's, and they need to be trained well to get it. Few people understand how to get rid of the tough and arrogant modern mannerisms when making shows of previous eras. Especially modern women. They have completely lost the femininity, softer tone of voice, and lack of aggressiveness that most women had still in the 70's.
Yes INDEED
I didnt even he played boyd in teen wolf , i was like boyd 😅
Damn Don! I didn't you could get down like that!
Soul Train was the coolest show on television i dont care what anybody says
I can't wait to see this.... This is when TV was Fun, Loving and Enjoyable!!!
I wish I could watch on Netflix!
They should put it on Netflix I wonder do they realize that already
Wow!! Don Cornelius And The Soul Train 🚆 Dance Line... The First Taping.
Aaaaah, now I remember. This is when people used to have fun!
Pay attention Don was about that life.
Shaheer Henderson real spit. straight alpha
For a black man to call 2 white man's a boy took major nuts back then salute to Don Cornelius s.i.p.
Musane Dollaz i noticed that too! Don was a straight alpha
Rip don cornelius 1936-2012
When is it coming back.
The look on them whiteboy faces at the end lol they couldn't comprehend The Juice Don was brewing up,they couldn't believe he knew who he was( GOD). I have to find time to watch this weekend.
Yes INDEED
He was the man but he was Not GOD!!!! There is only one and man best not forget it. BOOM!!!!
@@sleepytimesoundsnightnight I would explain & enlighten you but I think you want even receive it or maybe not in the mind frame to handle the capacity-(the maximum amount that something can contain).May these weak tribes and their way of thinking parish so we can get back to being real Great which real Black were God calls home Inside Of You #GOD....
Damn now when I watch the Honeycombs performance I'm going to be thinking about what happened behind the scenes. WOW
It was really good.
I absolutely remember this episode of Soul Train.
Soul Train began National popular on WGN America (now Newsnation)
Let me say that this was not the first traping of the soul train. It started in the merchandise mart building in Chicago Illinois.
I was one of the original dancer's.
Please acknowledge this, please find the tapes of the show, that is being withheld.
Sincerely
The girl that got locked in the closet my cousin

That girl locked her in the back room when she get out of that she needs to smack her

I can't wait for season 2!
The most memorable experience I've ever had was appearing on Soul Train. First, I was peeing blood after finding out that flying and the lack of oxygen in my sickle 'trait' body. My pee looked like beets juice, but I was on Soul train with Jermaine Jackson. Rick James's music was the hottest in 1983?. Don Cornelius saw, and communicated with no one, he was gone, he walked about like a zombie. The makeup lady was the prettiest woman I had ever seen in my life, she even made me look handsome (Someone give her my number please).
I asked my girlfriend from Toledo (White) not to come for racial reasons, she understood.
Don Cornelius walked up to me after our song and I guess assumed I knew the drill and just stuck the mike in my face, and thank God I didn't drink then because I would have asked him "What the F___?" but I said my name and he went to the other guy. Like Dick Clark Don was a genius at what he did. RIP.
Saturday late mornings in the 70’s!
Holy crap this was really good! What is this from? Are there more clips that I can watch?
Don was a mastermind. I love it!! They should make a movie. The lead actor is a Denzel
People tend to forget who was the real star of the show 😂😂😂😂😂
Where can we watch the entire shows if we don't have cable?
Man I have heard the name Honey Cone mentioned in ages the only track I remember from them was If I can’t fly 🤷🏾♂️
I love soul train
I wanna watch this. It looks so accurate
soul train for ever
This guy coming a long way from Teen Wolf and the show Power! Keep doing your thing bro! Great casting
The best show out!
So happy you love it! We love it too!
Gods morning afternoon and or evening to everyone, I’m very proud Mr Don and his achievements. I wish I could made it on that show. Everyone should view that beautiful show of Our beautiful people having fun. I might try a show in its likeness some day. Charles Wham Metcalf
Hmmm, 🤔 I just might have to catch up on the episodes I missed....
Yeah!
Heavy.
Vivo en Perú, pero me gusta Soul Train

Skimpy this must be generational. My mom said thisnword to me about my clothes.
Skimpy was a nicer word than almost naked LOL
Only one of the PIPS had a large natural.
The Pips outfit didn’t even fit them well.
wait.... how did i miss this series? anybody know where i can binge watch it?

I DON’T CARE IF YOU HAVE TO PISS YOUR PANTS, YOU KEEP DANCING.
I wish there was a network only concerned about telling and showing the greatest ranking stories/events in human history, and not the damn viewer ratings! The Soul Train saga, is one of the most phenomenal happenings to occur in the last century and finally a network picked up the story and the cast were excellent!….showing the world 🌎 how the foundation was built and the events taking place behind the scenes, and just because of a viewer rating system, the series gets canceled, story left untold and fans utterly disappointed! The think tank behind this rating system needs to be revamped and reset strictly to the standard of getting the greatest stories ever to have happened, simply told, the viewership and money will come.
Terrible casting and choreography for the Honeycone "members" in this episode. The original choreography is well documented for this song. Additionally, the great Carolyn Willis was the beautiful, chocolate-complexioned sister who always stood in the middle of the lineup. Why dont casting directors and historians do their homework? We love you and youre a legend, Ms Willis! ❤
*What happened to the second season?*
What happened to the final episodes?
