Watching a breakdown from someone who knows a lot about demondice as an artist AND person is so much differrent than someone who just tries to breakdown lyrics. Loved the video!
You know what is freaky is that even though there is the common correlation to a certain reaper, I am honestly getting some mixed thoughts. While the themes and messages of their songs recently have been very simmilar, along with their voices, things arent the same. Im honestly questioning the correlation because the mic quality is a bit...different between the two. Not to mention Demon dice had toured somewhat recently and I am not sure if she would be able to tour and do the other channel at the same time. It is an odd thing to think about now.
@@dicequeenDi What is crazy is that while they seem like two different people, they resonate so well with each other in terms of what they write about. When I watched take the bait I immediately had vibes from GUH and the mountaintop. But what is funny is that I think there was a pretty small time between these so it doesnt seem like they are the same. But one of the crazier things is that they released stuff on the same day it is so weird how they can be so simmilar but not the same.
It honestly seems like a reocurring situation where DD’s focus helps her escape the inner demons, but when she gets anything done they come crashing down on her again. Honestly im just glad they have a place for a soul scream song like this .-.
Imposter Syndrome is such a good pull! At the risk of not being coy enough, it's gotta complicate things how much of her fame and success is under a face and name that someone else owns...
"What's a god to a devil putting up a facade?" Reads to me like impostor syndrome where she (a lowly 'devil') doesn't feel like she's earned her place at the top where she thinks other talents (gods) belong and didn't get that chance. Hence the focus on LUCK. She had expressed these emotions explicitly before. "You ready to rattle some bones? Thinking I'd dip to follow a script and never look back at the demons at home?" Comparing where she's been to following a script is interesting and poignant in that she can't talk freely about everything, and also maybe a reference to her theater background (maybe reaching), but she has also put theater references in her lyrics not too long ago. 4:13 The slashing sound is probably a reference to the rhyme that you'd expect her to weave in this scheme, but she subverts it. "Tell my friends that they'll do well Shout from the mountain I dwell But does this ring any bells?" a reference to a specific earlier song that got some amount of backlash. So the backlash caused her (either directly or indirectly) to "change topic". "I need an outlet now" again referencing how she feels restricted on what she can say, so she uses these songs as an outlet to vent.
The other thing about the mountain is the follow up "and change the topic from the hot tip that they probably won't sell?" which seems an acknowledgement that despite all her encouragement to climb, most of those who take the advice aren't going to make it to the mountaintop. Success is always dependent on some luck. You've got to do the work, but even doing the work only means you're rolling the dice. Critical success is just as likely as critical failure.
@@dcscruz2970 I'd love to say, but If you don't know then I'm not sure its proper etiquette to blurt it out publicly. Maybe what I can say is the song they are referring to was not published on the DD channel...
You pointed out that there is no Japanese in this entire album and how that is unusual for her. I can't help but think that is a conscious decision due to how she has talked about how she interviewed for the "Applebitches" job along with other people she was friends with in that music community at the time. And then when she got the job and they didn't and then got the newfound success, many of them turned cold to her. She's said she just wishes they would at least say they were proud of her, but instead they seem to have given her the cold shoulder and you can't help but think they are jealous of her success or think that she "sold out". So the lack of Japanese may be part of her snapping back on them in a roundabout way.
The Sydsnap video appearance to the Succu-bar now makes perfect sense. Whenever Karen unexpectedly appears on a depraved video, it's just her trying to have a good time, and the release of this entire EP is cementing that fact. She *_desperately_* needed a good time, even for just a bit.
Yeah. Knives. Definitely not farming equipment. Totally. Edit: Fine. If you won't say it, I will. She IS totally wrong. She applied herself and proved to be more talented than others who did. The tracks are fire. Especially since they're personal and open so often. She "could probably" get through the fast part of Em's Godzilla without making much of a mistake at 1.0 speed. She is a demonic GOAT. Lyricism, delivery, skill, style... She has it. In hearts, in clubs, in diamonds AND in spades. Edit 2: Why be a... king... When you can be a god?
Really nice analysis. Of course since this was released, we've heard her explain it herself and you were pretty on-point for the most part. The thing that caught me off-guard was her mentioning that a lot of this song was written towards the start of Dice's hiatus. Though that definitely makes sense what with the reference to Dante's Inferno.
Yall see the date right lol. I bum rushed doing all these reactions within hours of the Song release cause I fuckin knew she'd do a lyric dive and everyone and their mom would tell me what she "actually meant" like they're some 100000 IQ head if I did this after that point
I’m loving these breakdowns a whole lot. I’ve only been a fan of Dice since she started working as a waitress and this is the kind of close reading I’ve been looking for. My brain as an author starts going with this level of critical thinking. I spent some time thinking about the lack of Japanese in the EP and had a few thoughts. Sorry if this is a “reference you understand” situation, but I couldn’t help but throw my own thoughts in. I also don’t claim to know as much (or anything) about Dice, but I see it as a form of word painting. From the lack of Japanese, I feel she is trying to distance herself from her waitress job so she can reflect. It feels like she is quite literally putting herself in the place of an outsider as a means to vent. Kinda similar to her references of alienating herself. Or I could be totally off since I’m not an archdevil (I’m more of a Lemure). Either way, just something I thought about. I also love how this EP is set up almost like a soliloquy. She’s talking to herself and venting her internal thoughts. We simply see it because she’s on a “stage” so to speak. One final thing. I feel this is a call and response in some ways to a “song about beheadings with lawn equipment.” Eh, I’m probably off base and tired. Truly though, I’m loving this deep analysis. You’re awesome.
around 10:40 Luck plays a big part in everything, like a certain G-man has said before: "The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world." Which is part of the luck, being in the right "man" in a "wrong" place can either make or break your career.
'devil putting up a facade' could also be referring to DD being who she prefers to be, but putting up a 'facade' as another character. Which we all know, or should at this point, she does have that other character. She uses DD as an 'outlet' to vent and just be herself while she cant really do that on the other end.
These lyrics are so rich and interesting with so much room for interpretation. DD is really impressive. I just hope she isn't too burnt out and that this EP helps her to vent some of her frustrstions with her day job.
It's the problem with this EP. Everything on here is so tied up with her other project, that it's really hard to analyse the EP while avoiding mentioning the other project, especially when she throws in references and sound effects like that. She does the same the other way, with mentions of dice, or the sound of rolling dice in the background of works from the other project. Sometimes I think she might be deliberately pointing out the absurdity of the enforced separation when the link is so obvious to many people. I think we all know why the masquerade exists, but it does get difficult at times.
i was one of the "new demons" that joined on when applebitches blew up. it feels weird joining on exactly then because she's gotten even bigger and i see more people coming on and finding her when shes even more big and funny and goofy and being almost completely detached from DDK, but i can't say that i was truly there either, because i wasn't. so like theres the new kids that're too fresh and obsessed with the now, but there's also the old kids who were there back in the old days and resent the now. and then there's me/us

Great video! I hadn't looked at the 'space' line that way before, but it makes a lot of sense. I think it might actually be broader than just 'Japan', but more 'dreams achieved' (and going to Japan was one of those, as was fame from her music and touring and whatnot). The chorus has this effect applied to it, which (to me) makes it sound like she is singing it in small room. Something like a stairwell, or a concrete cell. Makes me think of a slightly different interpretation to wanting an 'outlet', in wanting the ability to step out of this feeling of being boxed in. Also, gotta say, love the new model and being able to watch you bop to the song.

Your lyrical breakdowns are a lot deeper and contextual than others, and as someone a bit too deep in the rabbit hole, i appreciate that so much. Thank you for this. Also love the model!
I think when she uses the term outlet I think she's using it more in the literal since as an outlet to express herself more, and this kinda needs more background with knowing her other alter ego from her Holo Live work with being in HoloLive there is a great deal of things you can, and can't do so when I here her say I need an outlet I think she's literally referring to she wants to do more things but she can't because of how restricted she is because of HoloLive but that's just me totally speculating.

Your lyrical breakdowns are a lot deeper and contextual than others, and as someone a bit too deep in the rabbit hole, i appreciate that so much. Thank you for this. Also love the model!
Thank you! That means a lot to me! I can't comment all that much on music or specifically rhyming ability. But I do know a lot of C O N T E X T
😈
ey I dont really watch you, but I just want to say that I love your Model and may you have a good day today.

A outlet is a place were you can express your stress hatred whatever
No, an outlet is a point in an electrical circuit from which current may be drawn.
