I cried when tareo ran away from garou, but I have to admit it's normal this happened, because after all, tareo is just a kid and seeing all those defeated heroes and garou's scary appearance must have been a trauma for him

Monsters are the dark reflection of a human. Warped beyond recognition. A villain can still be human but a monster is a human that lost it's humanity through a lot of pain and suffering. No monster became such without pain.
My favorite character in all of One Punch Man. Garou is “to me” what little is left of true humanity wanting to make its final stand against the corrupt, unfairness that fills the world. Probably why I don’t find this song sad, the story behind it is, “though heroic,” but the song itself is filled with inspiring themes and tones, fills me with hope every time I hear it.

Garou doesn't want to be pitied or inspire compassion but it can't helped for me. I was bullied in school because I was different and when I got angry, they always said it was my fault, exactly like garou . In the "one punch man" world, I would certainly have become like him
Maxence Gary Bullies that shroud their darkness and only expose the victim reactions are some of the worst. They never get in trouble especially if there is some existing bias against the victim. Everyone sees them as either a good guy or even a hero when deep down they’re monsters. After all who would believe the victim when the bully’s silver tongue paints them as violent, crazy...they smirk in the shadows as their victim suffers because nobody will ever believe in them.

Maxence Gary it’s certainly something that echoes well in Garou. Some write him off as having no real compelling motive but I disagree. Nux Taku has an interesting take on it himself but the man speaks in such a uncanny manner half the time I’m uncertain if he’s being sarcastic or not. I have to rely on the tone. Even he I got didn’t see him as inspirational in a different light.
Garou found that he wanted the monsters to win because of an unequal balance where the hero always prevails. He began rooting for the monsters near victory only to always see them be taken down. Then he himself began to experience it, noting the danger of a young boy getting hit pretty hard and he spoke up against it. Garou’s beliefs in the monsters getting a win as much as the heroes didn’t resonate with a single one of them. Blinded by the notion that heroes were always meant to win, never questioning it nor caring about the troubles of the monsters. Time and time again he referred to the resolve those monsters held - protecting their habits, even other members of their race or seeing what damage was already brought upon the earth by mankind. Of course people wouldn’t think about that, they’re destined to be terrified under every monster appearance hoping for the heroes to kill the monster and save them. Whatever the monster is saying wouldn’t matter in their eyes of course, as the monsters aren’t human in their personalities. As shown with the monster association, they care little for each other and certainly less about coexisting with humans. While some in the series have been shown to be motivated by something the humans have done many desire power. Different kings would appear wanting to claim territory over a fallen rulers domain. Especially with Sky King noting that, no different than humans in that regard. It’s why many darker humans work well as monsters, they already care less for those around them and the power gives them the freedom to kill.
I got sidetracked in that hmm...ah yes so Garou ends up taking the abuse of these kids who don’t understand a thing about him. When he spoke up, the teachers echoed criticism of the boy feeding off the lies by the other kids. “Garou started it! He got violent!” Or even calling him dangerous I’m sure. Anything to get him to take the fall for their own darker ways. Eventually enough was enough and Garou decided he needed to get strong. Strong enough calling himself the monster, one who would become more powerful than all the rest while proving that the ones fated to lose could win even against the toughest opponents. Maybe it was his youth or his time with Bang but he never gained the killing instinct to finish off anyone.
Despite everything he’s done he never kills a single hero, he naturally connects with a boy like Tareo who was picked on by his “friends”. His human side is strong, probably stronger than a lot of people. Heroes have been shown to carry immense character and put their lives on the line for innocents. I wouldn’t say more than them but he’s on similar footing with his humanity. He refuses to kill the heroes and I feel like his concern over Elder Centipede coming there was that he didn’t actually mean for them to die. He acted as if they were his prey to Phoenix Man but in reality they were his defeated foes, ones he wanted to live. That may just be my personal opinion on the matter.
Despite what he claims to be and his brutal way of beating up heroes, he’s certainly not evil. Aggressive and a bit crazed in the head (I mean even if he doesn’t intend to kill, he is putting his own life in danger against top tier heroes ready to die for his cause) but not evil. It plays itself out more going into Season 3 and beyond...his humanity vs what the monsters want to do. Sure...he’s the villain. Antagonist to our protagonists...but not in a traditional way. He’s fighting from the underdog’s position, someone beaten into the dirt all his life and coming back to fight the strongest of those that always win. Not to murder everyone but just to prove everyone can lose.
Except of course Saitama.

To be honest, Stain and Garou are really similar. Both see the hypocracy of heroes, and both want to make society right for different reasons. Stain to make heroes 'heroes again' and Garou to become the ultimate monster so that he can show that Heroes and Villains don't matter if there's a common enemy. I wanna see how a conversation between those two could go.
This is actually about to make me cry! Garou is genuinely the most human of all OPM characters! His determination is eternal and will never dwindle, even when all hope may seem lost! The people at the bottom can rise up and make a change!

Sad but true. Easier to just call him a “criminal” so they could do what they wanted to do, instead of recognizing the humanity in him.
This is the world he hates, and it’s a parallel to our own. Look at how politicians take a stand about being “tough of crime” and “punishing the killers.” Yes there are murderers in prison, but they’re not the majority. Most of them are innocent, and were sentenced as “criminals” to meet mandatory minimums of prison occupancy. The cruelty of “the just” is in their power, so Garou decided to just become stronger than them.

It shows that everybody has his bad sides and his good sides and it is sad that he is only judged by his bad sides, okay he attached many heroes, but only, because he jad his reasons, he wanted revenge, which i totaly understand, its the people who made his bad side grow, not he did it.
You can see it, that he is also just a human, that just needed more attention than others. When he met that kid on the street he was so nice, he cared for the kid, thats why he didn't attacked it, he was happy which made me happy, but then when the kid was scared of him he was sad and there was opened a little hole in his body.
Also he was hurt and poisoned, but no, no body is giving him rest in his life, he had to fight against 9 heroes, and that weakened, that is more than Unfair!
But i am actually so glad that he didn't die.
When he dies in the 3rd season im gonna cry for the rest of my life for sure.
You can see it because yesterday i finished season 2 and i just couldn't sleep because i don't know how his healthy is, I AM WORRIED!!!!

He may have labeled himself a monster, but I'm starting to believe he's really a hero. He just doesnt realize it yet. He's not fighting to destroy humanity. He's fighting for peace and justice, to set things straight. And despite his destructive and violent nature, he respects kids. No matter how bad they disrespected him, he was always kind towards them. You cant say the same about the REAL monsters. Just look at the Deep Sea King. He saw no age. Only weakness. Therefore, he tried to distract Genos by killing that little girl. What does that say exactly. I think anyone here knows.
DSK is the poster boy for monsters. Vicious, cruel, bloodthirsty, sadistic. Garou is none of those things, hes just angry, spiteful, somewhat honorable, good with children. If he was truly a bad guy and a monster, he would be like royal ripper, eager to torture kids for no reason

Garou is not totally villain. Even if he defeated lot of heroes, he didn't kill them, right? He even protect that kid when death gatling shot the entire building. He can just dodge all the bullets, but he chose to block all the bullets so it didn't hit that kid. He still has humanity in his heart 💖

@@platinumsperm2171 that was because of cosmic radiation. He didn't kill them on purpose, if he had seen Tareo was dead because of his radiation. He would had accepted his defeat way before the fight itself and eventually sacrificed himself without a thought just to save his only small friend.
Because he was doing this all for none other than Tareo, - to show him that heroes are nothing but clueless therefore he needs to become strong to survive in this society...

Garou is for sure my favorite, I as kid whoud always cheer for "bad side" and villians, but there is also more humanity in this villian then in some heroes. Im reading manga, and Im realy happy with Garou development.
Chaotic Neutral are strange creatures. They don't respect the law, and won't actively do good. But when presented with the opportunity, they would step in whenever necessary. But they are relatable to humanity at best, nobody wants to be the villain, but had to play the cards being dealt by life. Because even half-monsters have a honor to stand for.

To be fair, at the beginning of Season 2, i really can't see the dude as a bad guy. For me, he's troubled with unfairness. Society always goes on biased opinions because majority wins like that's completely BS what if the minority has a point as well? Garou is a sick dude but he's still human. Sad to see a guy with goals being shattered with reality check.
Awakened Kaiji I saw Garou as a badass villain at the beginning, and I realized he was somehow an antivillain, and I ended up considering him somehow as a hero, fighting for his own reasons (after I read webcomic). But man for me, he definitely is my favorite character in all shonen I saw

Garou's relationship with Tareo is one of the most unexpected heartwarming relationships I've seen in anime and manga alike. I love how Garou is out to pursue his goal for his own benefit but the second he meets Tareo, Garou slowly begins to cling to that last bit of humanity he has left. After reading the latest chapter, this track slaps way too hard.
I love how garou's theme sounds like a warped version of saitama's theme.

man, not lying, I REALLY cried listening to this song, for me, it's like it punched my heart.
Garou is a character who, unlike most other characters with a sad past, has a VERY relative past. He was such a normal boy, that just because he had a different thought he was disliked and treated badly by others, by the same ones who LOVED the heroes who sometimes wanted only fame and money, being a bunch of selfish people.
I think most people identify with him, especially those who have been bullied, who are surrounded by stupid people every day, people who suck up to the "hero", the person who LOOKS good. idiots who pretend to be good to get something in return.
I live this daily, I've been bullied for being different and thinking differently, and I've lived (and live) surrounded by these hypocrites, I think that's why I feel it listening to this song. (I know it was a huge text, but really, this music and the character are incredible and creative. Garou shows this hypocritical side of the society we live, is really the best part of the character).
In that episode with the shack, I still hate Gatling for not even considering the possibility Garou was telling the truth that a kid was in the shack. But even from the start, Garou was one of my favorite OPM characters.
I can relate to Garou, i was the loser kid when i was unger. I was depresed and didn't have any freands, so i was by myself all the time. Garou was my inspirasjon to Just keep going in life, and that you you might not have freands to help you in hardship. Garou saved my life, i wanted to take my own life cuz i hadde noting good going on, but then i saw Garou never giving up No mater what!

Sure! I’m not sure if that track is released yet as there is still one more soundtrack set to release this month and it’s been awhile since I’ve listened through the first two OSTs. Whatever the case I’ll add it to my to do list!

Bang actually has compassion towards Garou but this old man was terribly upset when Garou used the technique he learnt to beat up everyone that are stereotyped as his fellow rivals. Some people really need a beatdown but not everyone though. That is why Bang beat Garou so hard but to the extent of not killing him, because Bang wanted the explanation from his own best disciple of why Garou was abusing his strength.
Garou never actually killed anyone. But Bang and his brother and Genos were all trying to murder him. All of the heroes aside from Saitama viciously attack like they enjoy inflicting pain on someone deemed a monster and use tactics which really are unfair for the enemy (like teaming up not fighting one on one, using bullets, support, etc.) And the worse thing is that they deal absolutes on someone before they even know the full story.

One detail I like is how the kids that bullied him weren't detailed at all and were more of distorted shadow creatures. This tells us that he only remembers how he feels and that his pure rage alone was enough to carry him through.

One of the more relatable shonen villains outside of the monster label. It's pretty clear many of us treat those who are neurodivergent similarly.
However it also applies to anybody else who happens to be in circumstances we deem worth dehumanizing and justifying apathy towards their struggles.
Looking at people through our egotism and projections. Creating caricatures of the things we don't understand or that challenge our viewpoints. Maybe someday we will be more conscientious in understanding each other.

it's honestly ironic how disgusting some heroes are, even in our real society. during garous's back story, those kids pretended to be heroes as they ganged up on a weaker child and beat him up. they used the name of heroes as an excuse for blatant bullying it's really disgusting. of course the adults are also cowards and just go with the flow without caring about the bullied child. this happens a lot in real life too with teachers in real schools and even higher authorities like the police and government. it disgusting how someone can go so far as to have a status ranking but be so evil. anyways if i was in any hero type of show i'd probably choose to be an anti-hero. every hero show and anime makes me realize how ungrateful and selfish humans are. welp thanks for listening to my ted talk :D

Garou is a weirdly literal take on a social justice warrior. He hates that labels determine how you treat people and tried to put the overly confident in their places, literally checking their privilege to live.
Still, violence is the only answer in video games and anime. Most of the time you can talk shit out.
Stain tried talking for idk 10 years or something only to realise his only choice to be noticed was violence, and it worked
