My favorite character moment in this clip is how much is communicated between Kirk and Uhura in that exchange when her tells he to have Dr. McCoy and Scotty meet him. She wants to go also, but he lets her know it's too dangerous right now, and she accepts it. All with no words!
Goof: In the turbo lift, Chekhov is not wearing a gold sash. After Kirk gets smacked and Chekhov is leaving the turbo lift, he suddenly is wearing a gold sash.
@@faithcastillo9597 I don't think it was anything personal. Koenig is a nice natured professional actor. In that scene, he showed brilliant acting ability.
Sulu "Shall i correct orbit to new fireing position?" .Kirk......... beautiful ...no panic..just a calm..authorised. ... beat....then......" no!" love it!!
Chekhov was a great character, especially because Walter Koenig plays a Russian! At the time when Communism was the Boogie man behind every bush under every bed and lurking in the Pentagons Cafeteria!!! A Brilliant Actor in my book that was overlooked by the big wigs at the Television Studio's!!! Well Done Mr. Chekhov Well Done!!!
Brilliant episode that led to many more Mirror Universe scripts for DS9, and Enterprise. The fan produced ST Continues episode Fairest of Them all was a good continuation of this story of ISS Enterprise
Notice the look on Spock’s face at 2.28 He realized the Halkan was right, but was torn by logic and duty to Empire The camera made a point to do that shot there
It would be an interesting series to follow Spock after Kirk and landing party went back to their universe. The Mirror Universe is one of my favorite Star Trek subjects. We have seen the aftermath in DS9, but I would like to see how it happens. The fall of any empire starts small can take years, so to see the Mirror Universe Empire demise would make an interesting story
Mirror Kirk: I order you! Let me go! TRAITORS!! Spock! Get these men off me! Mirror McCoy: What do you think you're doing, Spock? Mirror Kirk: Spock! You traitorous pig! I'll hang you up by your Vulcan ears! I'll have you ALL EXECUTED!! Mr. Spock: I think not. Your authority on this ship is extremely limited, Captain. The four of you will remain here in the brig and in custody until I discover how to return you to wherever it is you belong. Mirror Kirk: Has the whole galaxy gone crazy? What kind of uniform is this? Where's your beard? What's going on? Where's my personal guard? Mr. Spock: I can answer none of your questions at this time. Mirror Kirk: All right, Spock. Whatever your game is, I'll play it. You want credits, I'll give them to you. You'll be a rich man. A command of your own? I can swing that, too. Mr. Spock: Apparently, some kind of transposition has taken place. I find it... extremely interesting. Mirror Kirk: Spock! What is it that will buy you? Power? Mr. Spock: Fascinating. Mirror Kirk: Power, Spock! I can get that for you!
I would like to have seen a bit more of the Mirror people while they were on "our" Enterprise. We saw Kirk screaming at Spock and got a sentence or two from McCoy but nothing from Scotty or Uhura. That would probably have required a two-part episode ... however, the downside of that is what ... 😁
Lt. Uhura. My goodness. A Queen. She was a talented actress, singer and represented African American women in an era that black women was trying to make a name for themselves. Cmon.. Martin Luther King told her not to quit. God bless her. My grand niece loves Star Trek. She is 7 years old. And talks about Lt Uhura..
"represented African American women"? Have you forgotten that in those days the ideal was integration, not representing special classes, but all being human beings where color was irrelevant. To be sure, it wasn't long before your POV came to be dominant, a sort of quasi return to segregation, multi-culturalism with the idea of diversity & racial ID to be exalted for blacks. IMHO
Star Trek: how actualy Nations, Empires and States act. Also Star Trek: how Nations, Empires and States should act. P.S. Behind the political correctness of a newsbroadcast lurks the hard reality of barbarity.
That surpise face smacking was done so well...good sound effect and music timing. BAM!

Nichelle was smokin back then. 😉
All members of the cast really got to shine in that episode. They were all brilliant

yes, cool.
YEAH,...MIGHTY STRANGE!!!
Haha, I hadn't noticed!
Good eye. He was wearing it when he got on the turbo lift.
That final grin went beyond the confines of the script. That was personal.
I never considered that, but, yes, I think you're right. Shattner was a jerk to his fellow cast members.
@@faithcastillo9597 The grin made reminded me of Vincent D’Onofrio bathroom scene in Full Metal Jacket.
Or, of course, Koenig is just a good actor who was having a riot with this particular part.
@@mnirwin5112I think so

Nichelle's uniform in the episode was the best in the enitre franchise history.

They made that episode for Nichelle Nichols…..
And we all appreciated that.

Mirror Mirror.
On the wall who is the most evil of them all?

Have you ever seen "Star Trek Continues" Mirror episode? It begins with the Evil Kirk returning to his ship..GREAT show! It is on youtube
There's a good novel about that... I can't think of the title, but Spock becomes Emperor and changes the whole political landscape.
Poor red shirts
The evil Spock looks badass with the beard!
Uhuru wearing regulation Federation uniformk
Walter Koenig (Chekhov) sure knows how to put on a scary act!!
Watch him on Babylon 5. He's legit scary there. He does an excellent job.
Chekhov batting his eyes at Kirk LOL!
I can't tell if that's underboob or ribs at 1:32 but it's scandalous for the 1960s.
A lot of red shirt guys got taken out in this episode.

Now 10 Star Ships have joined.
Now we understand the Threat !

star trek coninues did a follow up with the terrin epire point of view. hammy acting but fun .
Terran Empire ST is far more interesting than the boring Federation
