This is beautiful! Wallis Giunta's ability to delightfully blend her chest and head voice in a way that sounds simple and stress-free is perfect for Send in the Clowns. The expression and care given to this song are what sets it apart. I don't know if it's the beautiful, almost haunting piano line or the sadness of the lyrics that get to me more, but I can't listen to this song without a melancholic feeling. That's what good music does though; you feel it in every corner of your body!
After watching Sondheim's 90th birthday celebration stream I went on a Send In The Clowns binge and of the 25 + I've watched yours stuck with me the most. The emotional beats, how you pace the phrases, it just fits so well. Amazing.
Just listening and loving it. It makes me think of Sir Thomas Allen. He's done same American songs on a wonderful CD ("September Songs") and by presenting it he explained he found it important not to sing these songs with an "operatic" approach, but as "naturally" as possible. In my mind I agreed, but thought "if only more singers would be able to that!" Sir Thomas is - and you're obviously too. And listening to you I've just become aware why I enjoy opera singers doing such songs. It isn't only their mostly beautiful voices (yours and Sir Tom's certainly belong to the most lovely in the world), but that you really can sing: perfect diction, flawless intonation, musicality, great dynamics... In short:very well done. (ps: I hope i"ve made sense. As you know: English isn't my mother tongue)
I think I am now in virtual love with you. I have not been able to listen to this song in over 4 decades... it was the song playing in the background when my parents told me that my abuela.. my grandmother died when I was 12- years old.. I only stumbled upon this after discovering you covering Gordon Lightfoot...one of my favorite songs. I steeled myself to hear this because I was captivated by your voice... and your beauty. And I figured if I could approach this song.. which I loved as a child again it would have to be someone like you. And you did it... I was able to sit through your amazing, stunning rendition... crying of course... You are amazing. I'm glad I discovered you. Thank you for my catharsis.. my healing of this lovely, magical song.
@@wallis.giunta There's nothing to be sorry, Wallis. It's very intelligent interpreted. Of course, this difficult song will get deeper and deeper with your age, but don't worry, it's really good even now. I'm pretty sure, our friend Sir T.A. will be very satisfied too!
Absolutely beautiful, Wallis. Everything about you and your performances inspires me more and more to keep writing for the voice. All the best, from (not so) sunny Manchester 😊
Wow! Wallis what a beautiful voice you have. I just read about you in the recent edition of Alere Flamam and remembered you from my (grade 10?) science class at LCI. You must be thrilled to be living a dream! Congratulations and I wish you continued success.
Hi Mr St Aubin! Yes, it was grade 10 or 11 science for sure! Thanks for checking out my video :) I never was much good at science, but thankfully I can sing 😂 I'll be singing in Ottawa next this July 6th, for the Music & Beyond festival. Would love to see you there!
Hallo! Thank you so much. You don't need to wait...I have lived in Europe for three years now, and I perform almost exclusively in Europe. You can always check my performance calendar at www.wallisgiunta.com/calendar
i'm not really a fan of the musical genre. though there are some songs that really touch me. in this case i don't like that clown imagery. even if he meant it like... 'when the show doesn't work, well, send in the jokes' ...the theme of the lyrics itself of course gets through to me... but i could never really connect to it as a whole, you know? the clowns spoil everything. 1st version of this song that i heard is the one by judy collins. i really like most of the stuff she does but... i always skip forward when this song begins to sound. but... who am i? probably it's a masterpiece and i'm just to ignorant to see and feel it. (...guess it's just that i don't really like clowns in all forms or metaphors. ;) )
Just beautiful!
Just coming across this now, somehow. Lovely and rich, as ever. Bryan's in fine form, too. Well done, both.
Good god almighty this is wonderful. Literally breathtaking.
Bravo!!! great interpretation.
My favourite rendition of this song! This is so beautiful ❤️ many blessings to you! ❤️
Thank you! That's an honour.
I like how relaxed your voice is.
Thank you! :)
Stunning! The rendition, your tone, your hair...timeless and classic.
Since Stephen Sondheim's passing I have listened to many versions of this song. This is one of my favorites. Beautifully done. Thank you.
I'm honoured, thank you. 🙏🏼

I love your voice ❤️❤️ from Korea
Thank you, I'm honoured :)
So beautiful💖
Perfect!
Wow! Exquisite.
Wow such a beautiful piece and beautiful voice. The phrasing and restraint are superb. Well done Bravo.
I expect it will get a little less polished as I grow in age and experience? Sorry about that.

Great job
Wow what a beautiful voice and woman. I envy you.
Wallis, when are you coming to live in Australia !!!
Aw, that's too far from my family...but otherwise I'd love to!
@@wallis.giunta OK, you can come and do some concerts then ! I love your performances.

a very difficult to sing, but you have done an admirable job. well done.
Wonderful! I'm an "old" fan of yours and actually waiting for you coming to Europe. ;)

I will do and I hope to see you soon. I'll be the grey haired rather "rotund" lady in the third road who smiles at you. ;)
Huuh ... Leipzig is a bit far away. Im in the South of Germany and not too healthy ...
But I'm sure you'll come to the South too, sooner or later.
BRILLIANT! Is it difficult to go between classical(loved ur Britten) and American Musical Theatre?
If you're used to it, it can be very freeing!
So cool!
Too square for my taste. Not sure she understand the lyrics! But she sings very well and … she is gorgeous.
Don’t worry, I understand the lyrics 😉
wonderful, your performance. it's just that i can't stand the song - the lyrics, to be correct.
You don't like the lyrics?

yea, of course. :D excuse my purple prose... ;)
