    So well done guys; as good or better than the Guard. lot of rehearsal time here I can see. Very impressed, and such a full contingent. I think the Guard only had a 32 man squad at its fullest. let me know what you think R. Morton FHG 849.

    Excellent, did the British build that Citadel to keep the yanks out of Canada ??

      The version of the Citadel you see in this video was for defense against a possible American invasion. It was placed as part of the Halifax Defence Complex to defend the land approaches to the heavily defended harbour. The Citadel seen here is the 4th fortification to be located on this hill (first being in 1749 at the founding of the city). Construction on this version started in 1828 and was completed in 1856. Depending on the worlds events, potential invaders included the French, the Acadians, Mi'kmaq and periodically the Americans. Parks Canada restored the Citadel to what it would have looked like during the Victorian period with the 78th Highlanders Rosshire Buffs, and 3rd Brigade of the Royal Artillery manning the Citadel. Every summer, students are hired on to provide interpretation of the lives and daily happenings of the two Regiments during their time in Halifax.
